They just nerfed the Thief. The game hasn’t even been out for a month yet. Including the head start, the game has only been out for 3 weeks today. The other changes are mainly in the interest of bug fixes for certain skills and little tweaks to try and make some less viable abilities more viable.
I dunno about you, but the only classes I really have a problem against are warriors and guardians. Everyone else I do really well against. This is also playing somewhat glass cannon (20 fire, 30 air, 0 earth, 20 water, 0 arcane).

I took them 48-56 hours to drastically nerf us between BWE 2 – 3…
Is it unreasonable of us to ask for some acknowledgement that ArenaNet is aware of the perception and associated discrepancies of our class and are planning to address them?

That is not the case. I played 30 games of PvP today so far, and in 24 of them I was the ONLY elementalist.
Why would I go sPVP with my elementalist, where I can only kill 8 nubbins at a time, when can go WvWvW and kill 800?
I think this explains all of the scrubs saying that the elementalist is fine. They must be the wvw ones that just stand back and cast massive aoes with their staffs. This takes no skill. All of those claiming that the elementalist is fine for spvp or tpvp post a video of you “dominating”. I bet you get owned unless you are running against other pug scrubs. After level 52 I re-rolled a thief and it is so much better in every way. I love casters but this glass bb gun we currently have as the elementalist is pathetic.

soo you saw the ele, nerfed him to a state of ok, then nerfed him again and again, and now his stupidly up and have been so since release without changes… the fact you overnerfed so critically much is too far out for my understanding…..
i believe you are “responsive” once i actually see you get the butts moving and fixing it…
(and kittenmit hate your stupid downing system in ANY pvp form… so stupidly made, get that kitten out of pvp. it does not belong there.. for pve its really awesome)

It sounds to me that you’re just not playing it well. The elementalist, at worst, is BARELY under the other classes when played (and built) properly.
Also, how could you say that ANet is ignoring anything? Have you read these posts? :
Changing a game of this scale has tons of implications and requires testing and tons of group thought before anything can be done. Give it time, and try different builds. Everything has a counter.
I will not talk about the Elementalist is “OP” or “UP”… I am quite fine with the current state except bugs on elementalist.
I am sick of it… mostly Arc Lightning animation stuck and RtL strange behavior, I have been reporting these bugs since BWE1 and nothing have changed!
It is in development over 5 years, these things have been reported many times in betas and I am sure even alpha testers must have reported it… what are they doing?

A few of the things the elementalist is lacking at are more mathematical facts than opinions. I’m talking about traits. You can’t tell me that +20% recharges for 1 of your 4 attunements is better than +20% recharges and something else for 1 of your 2 weapon sets.

I hear what you’re saying but why would Anet give the players the freedom to build in the fashion they choose, and then there’s only a select few builds that allows the elementalist to be somewhat competitive?
At this current time, there isn’t a happy medium where the elementalist can have high survive rate and also put out good damage.
Why should it be “this build” when Anet stressed that the player can still compete with the build of their choice.

yea the traits are a big issue for sure.
I think that would be a pretty good start or even longterm solution if the traits were 75% – 80% redone.

This topic kinda got out of hand. I’m not going to explain it again because I’ve done so tons of times and the people who disagree with me and the general consensus of the forum aren’t going to change their mind simply based on logic and good reasoning. I’m pretty sure that they are all good players, but bad people and they don’t care that us lesser beings can’t play the class as well as other, similarly skilled, players can play the other classes. I’m glad that they are content with putting that much effort forth and only being as good as slightly above average players in other classes.

I am GREAT at it.
I am REDICULOUSLY hard to take down in PvP.Yet, I roll an engineer, guardian, or warrior with absolutely no knowledge of them and do better than my ele with less effort.

Ive done the same thing, I wouldnt say I mastered my class but I came up with the best build I could think of after many days…For me it offered the best balance of Damage and survivability. Still at times i struggled. A day or so later I figured I would try out a few other classes, Necro and Warrior. I tried out the necro, having never played with one…made some random build I made up that looked okay and went in spvp with no knowledge what I was doing. I Would say I did 2x better than what I could do on my ele without knowing what the hell I was doing.
On my warrior (not using 2H greatsword) I just roll over people with ease most the time…I would have to say elementalist has a far higher skill cap than these classes, necro being one of the easiest to play. The damage may be a bit below par, but the skill cap is far higher than many of the other classes.

Its actually really easy to test what most people mean, create an ele, go pvp, go full dps build, attack the dummies to test. Create a guardian, go balanced build toughness, vit.
What i noticed:
On Ele(built full dmg crit) i would deal 1.5k-3k hits. (using staff,daggers were even lower since not all attacks crit at the same time.)
On Guardian(10 10 20 20 10, balanced tanky)(i have one lvl 80 btw): 1.2k-5k hits
Do you see what is wrong with that?
ele has low hp,low armor, put all points into might, precision = deals less dmg than a guardian set to more hp,more def, less might, less precision.
the dmg is the max numbers i saw on the screen from single attacks on a single target
