80 Necromancer (IRNY), 80 Guardian (IRNY)
GW2: it’s like DAoC, but for the WoW crowd.
(edited by Taldren.7523)
Arcane V – Elemental Attunement. Moved to Master tier.
Arcane VI – Renewing Stamina. Moved to Master tier.
No more Renewing Stamina + Elemental Attunement + Evasive Arcana
Water I – Aquamancer’s Alacrity. Moved to Master tier.
Water V – Cleansing Wave. Moved to Master tier.
/facepalm. So I can’t have faster heals and the ability to clear conditions in our SUPPORT LINE?!?
Combined they nerfed our best survivability … the class with the least in the entire game.
All for -3 seconds base attunement swap … which doesn’t matter for anyone as Evasive Arcana is one of the best traits the ele has.

Cleansing wave was a grandmaster trait. The arcane one kind of peeves me. Actually makes me pretty anniyed and is a bad idea. Jon sharp if you are eeading this please no. Those two skills are far better than others and we have no other real ways of getting vigor without traiting for it and going all cantrips. Do you want us going all cantrips again?
The trusty old 0/x/x/15+/30 build is now completely removed from the game. So much for build diversity…
Cleansing wave was a grandmaster trait.
No it wasn’t.
Par for the course. I happily welcome all who choose to join ranks with me and the other beleaguered ones. There is some good news here, though. My hope for a survivable build outside of Arcana is nearer. I have suffered for years (it feels that long) in my contempt for Arcana after all the dastardly nerfs to it.
Another good thing is that warrior has a big damage nerf, and not to meaningless skills, but to a few that are popular. Truly, I almost skipped over the Ele portion to read only warrior notes. That is the bane of the GW2 community. Half way through I could feel the anger rising. It was all buffs. Then, snuck into the last notes were hefty nerfs for the warrior. I will sleep good tonight.
We can do this together. Stay vocal, and keep helping each other. We have a long road.
I was thinking of cleansing water. Well back to my old build. Minus vigor now…
The developers have no clue apparently about Elementalists. We said we don’t want elementalists to be forced to go arcane trait line…
What they heard is “hey let’s nerf arcane trait line so no one can go that or anything else too!”
lol
Have you seen them play on twitch? They have no idea how to play either class, but ele was laughable. Not a clue about there own game….
this destroys so many builds.
Mostly destroys the most fun builds in the game.
Thus destroys fun…
I heard “learn to adapt”….
Totally true…
I can adapt to another game……….i adpated to nerfs since release….
Is there a limit where the game becomes so bad its just boring?
this is it.
What makes me sad is how better was this game at release comparing to what is now.
P.S: they said they are not “written in stone” (answering exactly my complaints about this nerf) so if you care just let them hear your voice.
Don t know how but do it.
Will be hard to compensate for all conjured 1111111111 players and people who only care to win……unfortunately.

If this goes through I’ll tinker with it for my own piece of mind in saying I at least tried the setup but if classic 0/0/0/20/30 just doesn’t cut it. I’m going guardian it is the only other class that appeals to me because it’s support similarities to D/D ele.
I hear you oZii … but I have to say … a class that has lowest hitpoint, lowest armor, no stealth or clone gimmicks … it should hit like a freaking truck and it doesn’t. It hits just as hard as other classes … just with less survivability.
I am not putting support down … but seriously … someone missed a memo somewhere that this class has all the drawbacks it does with very few benefits.
To me, 15 points Water with Cleansing Wave is a staple for my builds…it’s just, you know, neccesary. With the change, I’ll just shift my gear around a bit and go 20 points into water instead. Not much will change for me overall, damage or otherwise, but I still feel it’ll be a rather poor decision.
Instead of being able to take our bare minimum defense and play an offensive build otherwise, we’ll now be forced a bunker build just to get our vital defense traits. I don’t see how that’s an improvement.
The new earth trait sounds nice, but with Eruption being the way it is now, going into the condition line isn’t really an option for staff eles.
It wouldn’t be a real patch if ele weren’t nerfed. Just roll a mesmer or engineer – they are at least viable in a lot of different ways.
Ele might be viable now (staff or the clunky s/f), but d/d will be even worse than it is. Nigh a main-hand dagger should be seen on a sane ele (which don’t exist, b/c they all re-rolled).
Just realized that they are making it impossible to have -20% Water cooldowns + remove a condition when attuning to water.

Cleansing wave is water 5, cleansing water is water 11.
Yep… Dagger/dagger will be dead and done if that goes through. It honestly doesn’t effect any burst scepter/x builds this build literally just kitten s, destroys, breaks, kicks in the nuts, spit on the face of any D/D build.
It even further reiterated my point I brought up however long ago that, none of the dev main an ele. Did you see the builds he said he was “testing” he actually flat out contradicted the entire paragraph about trying to get eles out of arcana and water. It’s a joke really.
The only good thing I can see about this is the fact that we’ve been super vocal thus far!!
Seriously guys/gals, we need to be vigilant and speak up. Be constructive and concise with your feedback. No babble, no complaining. They want feedback we need to give them the best we have! Even if you’ve never played dagger/dagger and never even thought about going down the arcana line. These proposed changes just go to show that they don’t even play their own game, or atleast all of the classes. So your beloved build that you’re running now has the possibility of becoming useless. Stand up with your brothers and sisters!! If you see a post that has good feedback from one of us… Repost it, even if you don’t know what to add just say," qft, this is actually some really good input!" Or something of the likes. +1 the post too. We need to stick together folks!!
The arcana changes are most likely going to force more people down heavy arcana. Almost all generalist builds today runs at least arcana V and/or arcana VI.
Seems now even more will go heavily down arcana. Not to mention the attunement changes means all those points are giving much less of a return.
Big nerf…..
I don’t see it as a nerf (and coming from me…). These changes (especially watching the big picture and considering all the changes made to other classes) allow us some degree of specialization. Weren’t you bored to be the joke of all trades mediocre at everything but good at nothing?
Players who were using 0/0/10/30/30 with D/D will still play as always, just buy a Sigil of Energy or rely on food or some other stuff to get more vigor.
On the other hand, increment of damage to burning foes (that’s a 200% increment, from 5% to 10%….), stone flesh (boosted +50% and it is minor trait 5…), Tempest Defense boosted with 41.67% ICD reduction, passive condition removal (burning fire, diamond skin) ecc are – on paper – noticeable buffs.
I still want RTL and – generally speaking- mobility back, and many of the changes we have discussed here for the whole past year, but I do not feel the proposed changes as nerf.
If the update goes through every Ele basically gets free points into Arcana, and you’re calling it a nerf? Sure, the hit to Elemental Attunement and the Water line would bite a bit, but did you not see the buffs to the other attributes?

We’re taking another hit to our survivability and we’re the leats survivable of all professions already. They can implement the variety without the nerf to our basic survival needs.
Just think of it: Mesmers get clones, Necros get high health…we have to spend trait points to get our healing up just to match their survivability, and now that is taken from us as well.
If this goes through you can wave goodbye to the viability of D/D Ele’s and welcome all the bunker staff Ele builds because Anet forces you to!
And even staff ele users will rather say
“not nerfed too much”
“can still run old build without too many changes”
than
“useful addition to gameplay”
“new viable build options”
“staff now competitive in 1vs1”

They are a direct kick in the face of every supporter elementalist. All Anet does with this update is nerfing more and more of the supporter and indirectly strengthening damage as in the last updates too.
Instead of fixing the whole game with zerker < all, they only fix the classes so ever class can do maximum with zerker while the rest (like support etc.) is nerfed away.
are they kittening kidding me? the most usefull traits and they will nerf it? kitten you anet, kitten you!!!!!!!!!! NERF WARRIOR, NOT ELE!
Yeah, I’ve been experiementing with builds that significantly reduce the number of points in water (currently running a classic 0/10/0/30/30 “Ihateconditionsandlovecantrips” build), and this kills that, as most of my new build ideas were 10 in water for the condi removal. I’d be more excited over the earth traits if it wasn’t for that.
Sigh… back to the drawing board, I guess…

Cleansing WATER was (and still is) a grandmaster trait. Cleansing WAVE was an adept trait, they’re moving it up.
I was running a 0/30/0/10/30 fresh air build and this is going to totally kill it.
