I’m hoping maybe someone who’s done the gauntlet past this point can help me out. I didn’t have a ton of trouble on the fights leading up to this point but I’ve wasted probably close to 15-20 attempts ankitten o closer to beating it. I’ve tried all the weapon combinations, tried mixes of different gear, etc.

I know the trick here is to eat the meat hunks before the dog does, but how does one do that exactly? None of my cc’s seem to last long enough to slow the dog down for very long and most of the targetable ones have lengthy cooldowns. I have a pretty hard time just telling when and where strugar throws the meat in the first place. Maybe there’s a tell I’m missing but as far as I can see his wind up to throw the meat isn’t that different from his attacks.

Any advice?

Focus on getting the positioning right of the bat,
get him in a nice corner Fiery Rush and whirl.

i fully ignored the meat and focused on the guy.

Use a scepter, kite him to death using Air attunement blind and lightning strike. Can cast while running and dont need to be facing him. As for when he dies and the dog goes berserker, just kite him, constant blind and lightning while running / dodging… As for the challenge after them, the Dark thing, I’ve yet to see an Ele beat it.

I just went D/D and made sure to use water 3 (chill), Earth 2 and 3, and glyph of elemental power in earth or water to slow down the dog. I also have 20 in earth, so every swap there cripples around me as well. I did a good job of laying down AOEs on my way to the meat and they both died at the same time.

I did it with achiev with CoF lightning hammer spec. Used flash and arcane shield with mistfire for elite. The dog died before a 4th meat hit the floor, I pushed him away from meat with 3. After it dies just kite with scepter.

This is odd. Didn’t think this guy was a challenge at all, beat him with a crappy d/d 0/10/0/30/30 bunker spec because “reasons”. Focus the dog first, and updraft/earthquake if he’ll beat you to the meat. Make sure to keep up cripple with earth 2. Lightning Flash should help as well. I was able to kill the dog after the third meat i picked up, he already ate 1 because i failed to stop it.

The norn owner is super weak after his dog dies.

Tried with S/D, failed, went with D/D, 0/0/20/20/30 (or something similarly bunkerish, don’t quite remember). Use skills that CC, you don’t really have to beat the dog to every piece of meat unless you want the achievement. I even killed the owner first (accidentally) and then just permanently CCed/kited the souped-up dog until it died. Gear is a mix of celestial and berserker (with some PTV in there somewhere).

im having a horrible time with this fight, the closest ive gotten was with the fresh air D/D (i killed chomper once out of ~ 30 attempts, and immediatly died to that massive meat on a stick). got full berserker gear with ‘of strength’ runes, sigil of battle and blood lust (pre charged to 25 kills) as well as 3/6 ascended berserk ascended slots (i will not be able to get the rings in time and the backpiece is far too weak). tornado works suprisingly well to stun lock the mobs until there is ~ 3 meat on the ground but you cannot pick them up until it ends. in the mean time i am constantly being pulled, charged, or snared when im not using armor of earth or tornado so i have no idea what else to try. i have no other characters above level 20.

picked of strength over scholar because to be honest i am always well below 90% (on these gauntlets) but i always have might up, so to be oozing even more might seems like a win win.

ive tried fresh air D/D with heavy vigor and dodges (worked the best), sceptor, staff, and FGS builds i die at a laughable 90-95% health remaining on the boss’s

i dont have the money remaining to try to build yet another equipment set, so i am stuck with some combo of berserker and valkyrie. given we have only a few more days before the next content patch is due and the achievements/pets from this one are removed, i dont think i have a real shot.

i dont know what arena net had in mind when they decided to make temporary content that requires you to have a certain class/equipment set ready to go within 2 weeks or you miss out on a chunk of it. i do wish my earth elementals actually did theyre job and AGROED the mobs so i can do what eles are meant for and pew pew from a distance without needing to take damage.

Glyph of elemental power’s perma cripple helped me get the achievement with a mostly cleric build. I was a bit lucky he didn’t throw too much meat at chomper’s feet.

got it! and youd be supperised how, 0/0/10/30/30 staff, earth III water V VI XI arcane V VIII XI (it obviously wasnt an ideal build i would have gone for the crit) combined with elite ice elemental for random heals+ice ground, signet of earth for the passive, signet restoration, mist form (for the 4th meat stun), and arcane shield. standard staff kite ae everything, used a static field to guard one meat from wolf. got to 5 before i fully unloaded. was knocked prone near end by a kitten ed off wolf but managed to spam 1 him before he got me down.

forgot to mention, mix of zerker and celecstial and clerics (~1500 toughness without buffs)

Therein lies the issue for me. Never had an attempt where at least 1 of the first 3 meats didn’t go straight to chomper. Coupled with my machine being outdated and the screwy camera angles I’m just stuck on this stupid boss. I can see how to beat it, on any number of characters and builds, but what I can’t see is where the stupid meat gets thrown half the time at 5fps. My framerate is better in WvW zergs than in that tiny reflective room in the sky over the boss zerg pits.

RNG + lag isn’t fun, so I stopped trying. Kudos to those with more patience and/or better computers.

I managed to get it using Staff, running 0/0/10/30/30. Signet of Earth for toughness boost, CF for emergency condition removal, and Arcane Shield for a stun break. Elite is Elementals.

The name of the game is CC. Target Chomper, but always keep an eye on Strugar. The throw animation is tough to see, but it’s a bit slower than his axe throw. And he’ll (usually) face away from you. That’s what you’re looking for.

Start in Water. Frozen Ground is probably your best skill for this fight. As soon as you see Strugar chuck the meat, run for it if you can easily get it, FG if you can’t. One FG should last long enough for the second meat. Of course, while you’re not meat running, drop Ice Spikes whenever you get the chance.

When FG expires, swap to Air. Static Field works very well on both, though remember that there’s a short delay before it goes up. (Also, remember whether or not you took Blasting Staff, you’ll feel silly if you trap Chomper with the meat accidentally!) Gust works in an emergency to knock Chomper away at the last second, but remember that it’s a projectile, so it can easily miss. Also, Windborne Speed removes cripple. Lotta folks forget that.

Next up is Earth. Shockwave is useless, but Unsteady Ground is very handy for a crippling effect. You can also reflect Strugar’s axes/pulls, but don’t rely on it.

After four meats, you’ll get stunned. SAVE YOUR STUN BREAK FOR THIS. The stun lasts long enough for them to kill you easily, and plenty of time for Chomper to ruin your achievement.

After about 5 or 6 meats, DPS the kitten out of Chomper. The might stacks will make quick work of him, but be ready to swap to a CC if you need to. You could also go to Fire after the second meat before quickly swapping to Air for a bit of extra damage. I played fairly defensively, though.

Other options would be GoEP (for perma cripple while in Earth) or Signet of Water (for an emergency chill). Condition removal is very handy in a pinch, but could be swapped out. SoE I’d prefer to keep, but again, I play defensively. GoEP can also replace Arcane Shield.

Also, a friendly tip: if you’re in a party, you can call target on Chomper with Ctrl+T. If you don’t have a party, invite someone you know is offline.

TL;DR: save your CC for when you can’t reach the meat in time, play defense until you get enough meat stacks to mop the floor with the pooch.

I put arcane power and wave on my bar and switched evasive arcana to elemental surge. Then I used food to extend conditions and specced into fire magic to get perma chill as my end result. You probably don’t have to spec into fire though tbh, that might have been a bad idea on my part.

That’s it. Just go for the achievement, dodge roll towards the food when he throws it, you don’t even need to CC chomper.

I did it, and after telling my friend to do it (an Ele) they instantly won also. Yes.. You may get bad luck with a meat throw or something but it’ll work.
