Any use for Celestial gear now?
Link pl0x, friend.
- Celestial will stay as it is minus the MF bonus on it.
- MF food will work as it is working now.
- Utility Infusion will still work.

So, yeah…Celestial will not rot in the bank.
What made celestial gear special wasn’t MF.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
celestial is good because of the crit not mf :p
Celestial is garbage for Eles to begin with.

Past tense? And for eles, it was the MF.

No, numerically it was that eles (when theorycrafting doesn’t include other professions/the meta) gained so much from celestial stats that everything else seemed silly. However, in a competitive PvP/WvW context, they start to fall off because eles don’t take advantage of the condition damage well due to an inability to cover damaging conditions.

What’s a good min/max set for fresh air then that has good crit dmg?

Depends on where you are. (WvW/SPvP) I’d argue that because you get so much crit damage from investing 30 Air, you can afford to get a little survivability from your equipment via a small amount of soldier and/or cleric stats in PvE/WvW (probably just runes in SPvP)
Believe me, I understand that Celestial equipment costs a lot and is a time investment in PvE, but it’s going to keep falling off in WvW as eles continue to dwindle in a condi meta.

I was thinking WvW only. So something like half knight, half valk?

Knight’s gives substantial precision and decent toughness. With a burst build however your first line of defense is higher max health, so I wouldn’t split it half and half. A mix of soldier, valk and knight stats sounds like it might be good. In this scenario you have two sources of power, toughness, vitality and precision (second sources is trait) with a nice boost of crit damage.
Celestial is my favorite armor set as an elly so far.
Celestial is good regardless of MF. Depends on what you need to build. Celestial Armor has more critical damage so the price per 1% critical damage is less if you don’t use condition damage and healing power.

So you’re paying for unnecessary stats and justifying it by saying that the stats you want are numerically costing less per point? I don’t quite get it.
I wish they would take off the condition damage and mf and just boost all of the other stats by about 10%-20%. Then it would be perfect. Or just replace the mf with boon duration. lame that they’re removing a stat and not compensating it by boosting something else. Hey, kind of like what they do when balancing ele’s. Nerf something decent and give nothing else and return. Celestial gear is the armor equivalent of elementalists.

For D/D and scepter, your dps would be higher in Celestial Gear than PVT.
Depends ThiBash cause your survivability would be lower… against anything other than scripted AI, that makes a huge difference.
Celestial sucks unless you want to be absolutely mediocre at any and every role. If that small gain in perceived versatility is more important to you than effectiveness, then by all means run celestial gear.
Keep in mind you wont hit as hard as someone focusing on damage, you wont survive as long (or be able to sustain dps as long) as someone who is focusing on being tanky, and you won’t provide group support as well as someone focusing on that either (though lol about that, just group a guardian).

Lower than PVT? I’d love to see the math on that (seriously, haven’t done the calculations myself, only on the damage part).

True, but that can be reversed too. You won’t die as often as someone who’s focusing on damage, you won’t deal as little damage as a tank. As for the support, Elemental Attunement and boon duration runes are all you need for perma might, swiftness, regeneration, Soothing Mist and and protection. Gear’s got little to do with that.
One of my issues with Celestial gear are the ele’s running it in WvW that think it is ‘good’. Perhaps it is making me a little jaded against it across the board.
I would not run celestial gear S/D. You need to be able to burst people down and the damage output from celestial is vastly inferior to mixed gear sets.
I would absolute never run celestial gear with staff. If you are good at using your range and positioning, you can sacrifice a lot of toughness for damage. I suggest keeping vitality high though. The vast majority of damage I personally take is from retaliation and conditions. (nothing worse than having to mist form because a meteor shower you cant stop will kill you if you don’t… heh). Anyways, the damage difference in this case between celestial gear and the gear set I run is astronomical. It isn’t even in the ballpark.
The only situation you can make a valid case for running celestial is D/D. You are still wasting stat points in condition damage though that can most likely be put to use better elsewhere. Honestly, I run D/D instead of staff in GvGs and typically gear/trait out to be able to mitigate the most damage to my melee train and myself. Celestial just doesn’t fit the bill for that purpose compared to what I can do with other gear combinations.

That link doesn’t say anything about Celestial.
How to Condi Reaper on a budget
Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.
Just to clarify ..when I run staff in WvW, full stacks, and all buffs; I maintain roughly 20k health and the mid 2650ish with power (not attack power… power) before might stacks. My power does drop to 2450ish between fights, but given how long that food buff proc lasts (30s), it resets on each kill, and the sheer length of fights in WvW… it is nearly always up. So basically 95% of a fight I would actually be using a staff in, my power is there (if small manning, havoc, or solo… i would be using this gear, weapon, food :p).
In context… that simply isn’t obtainable with celestial.
