Anyone ever tried perma fury/swiftness?
and then what? there’s no point in having permanent swift / fury if your traits, utilities and build is bad.
you could go 30 arcana and switch out either 20% signet cdr or fire 9 and still have the same duration on boons more or less.
signets are just bad :|
Ele & thief main (full ascended)
Down with the braindead faceroll classes.
Give it a shot KazNaka, the best eles are the ones that create their own build and implement certain aspects of other builds into one unique one.
Fire traits are bad, stop it. Earth 12 would be nice to have, if cantrips weren’t going to be you main utilities in almost every build, and the other earth traits were better/more useful. all you need for “perma fury/swiftness” is Zepyhr’s boon(10pts in Air). I would love to be able to do a build with 0 points in Arcana though. O.o

This. You can tell the difference between the dead bunker at your feet and the D/D dancing on your corpse with ease! always better to be the latter
[NOX] & [Coma] – Gunnar’s Hold.
The signet build has one big weakness: Conditions! Especially immobilize.
You can bunker like crazy against physical damage with signet of stone and 30 points in earth, permanent protection uptime, armor of earth on 50% hp etc. But ele still has a crazy low hp pool.
My first attempt was signet of water, signet of air, signet of earth and skipping on the 10 pt in air due to having +25% movespeed. Then I swapped out signet of air for cleansing flame and got the swift and fury on aura back… Tried loads of stuff, as soon as your opponents start constantly applying conditions, you are done for.

Well, wouldn’t signets go better with a burst scepter/dagger build instead of a bunker ele?
I saw this thread soon after coming up with this build.
IT IS NOT A PVP BUILD! It is for PvE/Dungeons. Gear choices are based on things I own or can make. Fire shield on my entire group would seem to result in a big kick to DPS. I play D/D most of the time, but honestly needs some versatility. I wish ArenaNet would consider revitalizing Sceptor/Focus skills.
Thanks
I have run the selfish aura build.

100% fury swiftness and protection.

OMG a focus you must be noob. Trust me, focus is my favorite weapon right now, rangers basiclly scuicide themselves on you, they can do nothing for a long time (reflect 3 sec, invun 4 sec, swirling 6 sec, a kd for 2 sec and 3 blinds)
Thats about 20 sec of them waisting skills or waiting for you to finish owning them lol.
Edit: unless they are smart enough to swap to sword on swirling and reflect.
This build also works with zerkers and I have test with knights but prefer the condition damage against some foes and zerker against eles.

d/d eles pretty much already have permanent fury/swiftness.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
^ As above
If you’re D/D, you can maintain permanent swiftness easily, and you have nearly permanent Fury from all the attunement dancing.
In that scenario, 10 Air is likely better than 10 Fire because you get the extra 10% crit damage and also Bolt to the Heart.
Oh, and you can also then run heaps of cantrips for survival.
Cantrips … cantrips … cantrips. … .. . every build, cantrips.
Come on guys, put some thought into it, do you need cantrips? (probably), can you live with out them? (probably not). Have you even tried? (Definantly not).
I have run a signet only build (cept elite of course FGS FTW). While a stun break would be nice (cleansing fire for cd, or lightning flash for movability) I find that I can live without them. Focus has an alsmot better Cleansing Fire (earth 4, clear 3 conditions and reflect) and a better Mist Form (no stun break but you have 4sec invunerable and can still do other stuff). As well as some control skills.
Currently trying to nut out a S/F dps build. Something like Imobolize into dragons tooth pheonix combo, with the focus for extra defenses.

I have 0 points in Arcana , only one cantrip (and some times none) and 3 signets. I run S/F and its a very entertaining build. I have almost perma fury and swiftness and a bonus of protection (12 sec). Sure its harder to play than a d/d build but its much more fun. Focus its a really awesome weapon if you can understand the synergy that offers when you have a scepter. I must admit that i have never put a single point in arcane even when i run a D/D and i can survive and win in the most fights 1v1 (SPVP). I’m not a bunker ofcourse and i dont want to, its not the only way to play a successfull elementalist. And for the record i have 3000+ fights with my ele im not a starter. So the bottom line? Find the build you like, die a 1000000 times and learn to survive eventually. Its fun and u will be unique! ( sorry if my english is some how bad ! )
D/D is THE BUILD right now. but that does not mean that there are not alternatives. Proponents of D/D remind me of Boon/Prot monk build from GW1. Everyone touted it is the absolute best, refusing to run anything else. That is until Anet nerfed it leaving many monks struggling to adapt new builds.
Versatility = win

haha. Yes! Cantrips! I do love my armor of earth. However, almost always keep arcane wave on my utility bar (i main staff in wvw, and i really love having an extra finisher to play with).
I also tend to run around with Arcane Power (next 5 attacks crit) for defense in WvW. Stack might > armor of earth (to prevent interupts)>meteorshower+arcane power = lots of high numbers
