Anyone tried to make a burning scepter build?
Sadly not. Scepter is the antithesis of the elementalist:

Hi
I play condi scepter. But burn is only a part. You do a lot bleed from earth auto. Fastest kill for me was a thief in about 5s. You combine Seper Burst, burn, bleed, torment from sigil, cripple as cover with blinds and earth tankiness + FSG. It works if it suits your playstyle. Its F/E/x spec can be built with any utilities. I always run cleansing flame. Its one if the killers. I run it in rabid+dire trinkets and a mux if rabid/rampager wespons+armor with scavenger rune. F/E/Ar + traited arcane brilliance and shield.
Its not a dedicated burn build, but can kill wirh condies.

You can’t rely on just Burns unfortunately. Gotta use Bleeds and Burns in concert, since we can’t really stack both consistently, unless your enemy is stupid and stands in Flamewall. I also use Sigil of Doom for Poison. I use S/F F/E/W, Rabid or Settler ammy, Balthazar runes, Sigil of Bursting, all signets (Fire, Earth, Air) and FGS. Freezing Gust, Comet and Gale to keep them in Flamewall and to delay condi cleanses. You have a plethora of short-lasting, quick casting cover conditions (blinds, cripples, vulns) to make sure your Burns and Bleeds aren’t cleaned. And of course, Focus provides great defense to help you survive after you “condi bomb,” with FGS for very good mobility. You have decent sustain with Settler ammy if you choose that over Rabid too.
Not the best/most optimal build, but I love it. It’s a nice change of pace and holds up surprisingly well against many meta builds if you don’t waste your CCs and defensive cool downs. I tend to have a lot of trouble with Mesmers, who can break target easily and waste your Signets, but if you can lock them down it’s usually GG for them since their meta builds don’t deal well with condis.
This is all in hotjoin btw, no srs business PvP for me yet :p

Condi mesmer is a pain and condi necro a nenesis. But most power builds are a good match. I testet a lot what third spec line suits best and it settled with arcane. +condies, elemental contingency, elemental source. Arcane brilliance is excelent 20s 3/4cast, critical damage, condi, blast, ferocity + triggers leech.
Imagine what a thief does when he strikes me in earth…
I somtimes fake afk when one is lurking XD.
He strikes, 2,8k armor stone heart contingency pops protection.
I fite back 1s after his chain.
Magnetic wave, cleansing flame, arcane brilliance, leech from passive, + leech from heal, trigger: burn, bleed, blind, torment, generosity.
Swap fire /traited!
Thief is fadt and good or dead.

Thieves are pretty easy for me as well! Except Thieves running Acrobatics (Pain Response+evades for days makes a Signet build suboptimal) but thankfully most don’t run Acro these days.
Can you link me your build, if you don’t mind? I’d like to give it a whirl
Here’s mine: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vFAQJArdhcMosh9NwuB8RMIAYUXYJUFiAQosIOxgdQRA-TJRHABVs/QtnAgkKDAwDAAA
I sometimes switch out to Settler ammy/Runes of the Undead too. Also take Earth’s Embrace/Burning Fire as needed.
I’ve been working on a Burn build as HoT draws closer! In the beta events I heavily tested fire overload as a bridge between rotations to keep burn ticks up and I was happy with it so I decided to expand on it.
To start off with I have traits in Earth/fire/arcane (Arcane will trade with tempest, in time, but for now it gives extra burn+vigor on crits and the ever-so-wonderful Evasive arcana with 10,000 burn damage on dodge) and my gear is a mix of Apothecary and Dire with Balthazar runes. Scepter/Dagger in the weapon slots.
I run Resto, Fire and Earth signets for sustain+tricks and Cleansing Fire for obvious reasons (CF can be traded with lightning flash for tricky overloads) with FGS in the elite slot. (FGS has one skill worth 14,000 burn damage over 6 seconds and extra mobility while waiting for Fire to be charged up again)
One of the things I like about this build is that all the Main DPS is in fire attunement (Through a single 6 second rotation of fire you can apply about 30,000 dps with of burns (add signets for greater effect) that go for about 7 seconds to burn out naturaly) Earth gives us some decent dps with bleeds, but where it really shines is the blinds and being able to bait cleanse skills with Bleed/Immobilize/Blind then switch to fire and melt face.
All in all it can sustain burn ticks at 5k without overloads, 9k with (The might stacks are killer with overloads+blast finishers, and when you’re done overloading fire just about everything else is off cooldown)
In terms of survivability we have about 3000 armor with Protection on Aura application (and overloads, for that matter) and plenty of health to finish unloading burns and switch to water to rinse/repeat.
For pve it’s a really fun build to just round everything up knowing you can take hits and then just burn it all down at once.
For pvp it’s kind of sneaky as not a lot of eles are running Burns at the moment, but takes some patience to play effectively. Positioning dragon tooth can be hard, but if you watch your opponent for stunbreaks+cleanse and hit Earth+Fire signet at just the right time to stop them on a capture point or anywhere else, mind you, they’ll go down fast.
It’s worth pointing out that the build has a weakness to conditions, itself, so pick your battles carefully and bring on the firestorm!

You can’t really make a dedicated burning build on elementalist due to how elementalist swapping works. You can make a conditions pressure build using scepter+dagger off hand or scepter+warhorn (overload fire+wildfire is a lot more burning AOE than ring of fire). However burning seems to be more for AOE condition pressure than single target if you run scepter. Your single target condi damage will probably come more from bleeding.
If you run any form of condition damage build, you will be running F/E/x no exceptions.

Scepter seems to be the master of single target, or at least seems like it was designed with that in mind, akin to GW1 air spike ele. Especially with scepter Air 2+3, electric discharge trait, aeromancer’s training, and fresh air.

The version i run in WvW with cheaper food + oil. I have prickly pear pies in my backpack when i want to go more serious. Bit its maybe fun if someone sees a S/F ele with precision food, adapts for fresh air and dies.
Extremly hard for zerker builds which was the intension of building it. I usually destroy zerker. Especially pewpew rangers.
Gets usually squished by condi necros. Hard to win against condi ranger and condi mesmer.

So now i want some opinons too :-)
I want to try this with tempest (shouts) instead of arcane.
Now i struggle to decide the runeset.
Traveler: This one was the smothest for playing and building. It fits a the build with 10% condi and 15% boon duration well and the 25% movement makes life easier or i have to constantly overload for running around with speed … But it looses a lot condi damage.
Scavenger: Great for condi power and the drain suits so good …..
Nightmare: It has 15% condi duration which fits all the conditions. The fear can be fun.
Or something else ?
If you really want to go burn, go fire/arcane/earth. Arcane power + glyph of elemental power + signet of earth. Trait burning precision, power overwhelming, serrated Stones, strength of stone, arcane precision and, most importantly, elemental surge. Initiate with signet of earth, switch to fire, pop both Powers and cast drake’s breath.
After trying out some burn builds.. D/D burn, S/F .. I found out that it’s simply not viable at all. You become too kitten due to having no healing power.
I’m having a blast with it. Took on two stealthy thieves in WvW roaming.
2900 Armor
1600 Condition damage
800 Heal power

Me to. This build does not win evrything. But its quite fun against thiefs and rangers and there are a lot out in WvW ;-). It depends stong how the oponent is built but it works. Took out a gurdaian and a ranger in a row, the ranger came to late shooting in my back trying to hinder the finisher but obsidan flesh and then he was next :-).
The warrior was smarter … He did see me in earth. Moved backwards away. I swaped air for swiftness and the usual bolt, blind opener …. What a mistake. Jumped on me 2,3k, 2k, 5k, 7k about 2seconds to down me XD. Just recognised he poped automatic criticals but i reacted to slow ….
I’ve wanted to experiment with Glyph of Elemental Power. It gives a buff for 30 seconds that makes all hits have a 25% to burn 2 stacks for 5 seconds (With balthazar runes + Burning Precision) with a five seconds ICD (Why is the numerical form of this censored?) . It comes to 2.7k~ damage or so every 5sec, on top of Burning Precision itself which is one stack for 3-4~ seconds, also on kitten ICD. I would run this with doom and torment sigils, as ele has none of that by itself and cover condis are always needed for a condi build. With perplexity runes it might even be viable
a + 5 + s = bottom. The filter is weird.
I find Dagger/Focus to be the best build for condition elementalist. You can achieve ridiculous burn stacks with Fire skill 2, 3, & 4. Also they have a low cooldown so your sustainability is great. Fire 1 has really good chance to proc effects due to triple projectile.
