Hey everyone,

Can’t really decide between either of these two. Both would be male as I just prefer my character to be male. Both seem to look pretty cool in gear and although Asuran legendaries etc. sure aren’t as large, they are still noticeable in my opinion.

All opinions/personal experience is very welcome to help me decide.

+1 for asura! They’re awesome.

Going male I’d say asura just for the cute animations and such. If it were female I’d say human since female elementalists have a really cool animation with Meteor Shower where they kind of spin and float a little off the ground while conjuring and I love it :P

For males, I’d say Asura.

Now, for “best,” IMO? Female Sylvari. You get the “floaty” Meteors, and a darned good VA.

human/norn have decent choices for elites if you plan on roaming

Human for armor styles, asura for animations and laughs.

i personally run sylvari female because sexy. but between the two human because the human tree is abusable.

I have a level 80 human and an 80 asura Ele.

I love my Asura the most. The animations are the best. Being tiny really helps in WvW more than you would know. Some of the verbal statements are just hilarious. I spend my time solo roaming more than anything else though. I will say that tagging on the Asura makes it harder for people to find you in a zerg quickly though.

The human has better armor choices, but they all seem to vary between kitten and kitten. I wound using a hybrid of Trickster’s and Adept just keep her fully clothed and still look nice. There really isn’t any advantage though outside of that.

Oh, and a parting thought… The Asura Pain Inverter utility is totally underrated. If you 1v1 or roam much as DD, give it a shot.

EDIT: kitten and kitten was obviously the filter, but strangely works well in this case.

I play asura elementalist, and I just love it, animations, quotes, appearance, everything is awesome.

Only drawback is bugged Dagger AA in Fire ( animation when you run )

Any race that lets you use poison is good, having no poison is one of our weaknesses.

human. I have a human and a norn, and I actually prefer the norn, but armor looks best on humans

The only reason to go human as elementalist would be if you were going to be female, for eye candy.

Since you’re going male, Asura is best.

Why?

Because Asura have the best animations in the game (ninja like flips in the air when dodging, carrying a fiery greatsword across the shoulder like Dante from Devil May Cry, levitating in the air when channeling ether renewal, etc) for everything, and male asura also have the best voiceovers.

Surely you’ve heard “I … feel… SIX FEET TALL!”

Well it doesn’t stop there. A male Asura Elementalist will also give voiceovers when changing attunement.

To compare between a male human and male asura…

Asura:
Fire – “I have ignition!”
Water – “Turn the tide!”
Air – “Severe weather warning!”
Earth – “Rocks and stones will break your bones!”

Human:
Fire – “Here come the flames!”
Water – “Behold the ocean’s power!”
Air – “Reap the whirlwind!”
Earth – “I can move mountains!”

Jennifer Hale is normally a good VA, but she’s terrible at trying to do british accents, so I’m not a fan of her performance as the Sylvari VA.
