Atypical Ele Builds That Work?
I run a Scepter&Dagger glasscannon which works amazing. Really great fun and most of all what I love Conjure fiery greatsword works amazing with glass setup.
You want to play weasel style, take your engagements well. Join in 2v2s and burst them down. 1v2s only if they are right enemys for you, like double melee and you got greatsword ready – pull of from unwinnable 1v2s. Just pull back if you go low health for few secs, use your heal + water heals, and always use your range well and pulling back → back for burst.

Don’t go hero mode open with all out fire combo (unless it’s gonna land). Go in with Air, and time the #2 + blast to the end of channel. Use Air attunument swap for burst.
Updraft → ring of fire → Phoenix → Flame grab. Use dragons tooth on objective fights and downed people.
Most of all, use greatsword. There is so many times when you can do #3 and #4 against the wall in pvp. Doing 10k+ #3 whirls (evades all attacks while doing this!) and same with the #4 (untarget!). Just blitz through objective with these and everything melts. Use against downed people too, and hard 1v1s/1v2s (especially against melee). People don’t know how to handle it, cos they see the sword so rarely (and never doing any dmg).
Glass S/D is really fun, but he’s right; you have to choose your battles VERY wisely. A lightning flash in with Churning Earth followed by Earthquake, Ring of Fire and Phoenix+Arcane Wave kills a lot of stuff.

Signet of Restoration/Signet of Water/Signet of Fire/Signet of Earth/Become the Wolf
Hit and run style play, hop in to do some damage and then jump back out, using Chill (From Water #3 + Signet of Water), Cripple (Earth #2 + Earthen Blast) and Immobilise (Signet of Earth).
Perma-Burning from Signet of Fire and Fire #2 + #3. Can also utilise Signet of Earth to get off a Churning Earth (3.25 cast time SoE provides 3.5 immobilise)
Downsides – Little condition removal (Only Water #5) and no stun breaks, thus the Runes + Food giving 65% lower condition duration and 25% lower stun duration.

Taril, I think you and I have similar play styles with our builds. I wish they’d do something about that useless passive effect on Signet of Fire, but your build seems to utilize the extra crit chance better than mine.
Sabull, I’ve been really curious about making a build with 30 points in Air, but I hadn’t even thought of changing to Scepter main hand. Very interesting build.

To be honest, I don’t actually use the passive effects on any of the Signets…
I keep them all on cooldown to have high uptime of the Fire Aura and as a result the Fury + Swiftness + Protection gained from gaining an aura.

Wow, i’m seeing more and more people starting to spec their ele’s into burst with the fiery shield + protection I am a thief player as my main, but since anet is nerfing thief every patch, i just made an ele and am going to make a burst ele and have similar traits/design on my build.
Just have to hit 80 now i’ll let you know how my burst ele comes along when i’m there!
