You know those useless racial skills we have for elites? Well I was bored today and I thought I’d give avatar of melandru a try. What I noticed was that it gives you a healing spring for 10 seconds so I decided to pair this with my S/D build in dungeons to see how it goes. When the kitten hits the fan, i hit melandru and drop the healing spring, then blast finisher it repeatedly with all the S/D skills + ur dodge in earth and arcane wave.

I worked out I get around 5 finishers off in that time, which equates to a total of 6936 aoe healing once the healing power of my ele is factored in (low, 336, in zerker gear)

Blast Finisher, at level 80, heals for 1320 + 0.2 * (Healing power)

If a few others in the group notice the spring and finish in it, perhaps we can get even more healing going, but knowing pugs I’m gonna just assume for the most part I will be the only one performing the finishing.

Is this a decent amount? Is worth taking? there are many situations in pug dungeons where the fiery GS is ignored by the pugs or picked up by the wrong guy/used incorrectly, and the summon elemental has it’s moments but can also die a fair bit. My biggest annoyance is that avatar of melandru is a 180 second cooldown. I’m also keeping in mind I can give people protection for another 6 and a half seconds and aoe condi cleanse while in form but I can do these things with S/D water attunement/dodge roll anyway. Atm I’m solely using it to put aoe heal field down, pop out and then blast finish it.

Ever also noticed that the skill 5 of avatar of melandru is an aoe immobo similar to the Rangers Entangle? Used it to troll in wvw. sometimes use it in dungeons when im bored of my other elites:P if the vines dont get destroyed them mobs will have like 20 sec immobo and a bleed per second immobolized. Its in my opinion a bit underrated elite

Yeh I did haha, I just haven’t tested that one out yet because I was so focused on getting heal spring going and smashing it XD. Not a bad elite indeed.

I used to only bring avatar of melandru as an elite. Until I figured that I lacked power not healing/support so I equiped fiery greatsword instead.
