Im not sure how to avoid the air procs, there is no tell for it. I understand the class and how it works but here.

-Attempting to play offensive, Ele responds by using Obsidian Skin or Mist Form. If I use Diversion during OS, I am punished later by Lightning Bolts and Sigil procs. MF is obviously less of a treat.
-If I play defensive and avoid combos (ie; KD into Dragons Tooth) Lightning bolts still kill me after awhile.
-Any attempt at Mind Wracks at any point results in OS or MF, again. Im left without clones and the inability to defend myself. even if I was to bait it with Cry Of Frustration, the lack of clones leaves almost no option.
-I refuse to use a torch, obviously the easy way out for this, also the lighting bolts and many other skills require a target, but Torch is selfish and gross.
-CC countered by Stab, boon strips either miss or decide yank off Regen/Vigor
instead of Protection/Stab

Please this is one of the few classes Im really struggling with beating, yes I’ve played one I still cant avoid the Lightning Bolts there is no tell, even if I watch attunemnets its instant.. help.

What specifically do you run on the Mesmer and what setting? PvP is a lot different than roam WvW. Can you link a build?

Outranging with gs can often take half the hp before the fight properly starts.

Shatter skills recharge at low hp is game changing for double distortion.

Distort early and aggressively, save a cooldown so you can properly wait out obsidian flesh. You should be winning this matchup most of the time, though torch obviously plays quite a big role in that.

Leaving clones up can be a good way to bait dodges or cooldowns, since fresh air has a very hard time clearing them.

Thank you Gokil, I completely forgot the scepter only has 900 range. I’ll try all that next time I fight one. I cant thank you enough.

Fresh Air elementalist is a melee build. It loses lots of potential when you LoS or stay over 600 yards away. The only reason you have to be in melee is to mind wrack and then gtfo.

Poke the ele with greatsword auto attack from ledges or as close to max range as possible. Bait his dodges with Izerker and mirror blade. If you see him obby flesh, it means he is about to burst you. Always decoy when fresh air eles use obsidian flesh, don’t waste distortion on it. Never chase, especially in melee, because they CAN hit you while facing away from you, and good fresh air eles will use running away to trick you into playing too offensively.

Also… Your GS2 is unblockable. After OF, that ele is going to get rekt by your mirror blade. Make sure you land that and you’re golden.

Another thing, if you’re really quick, you can dodge the main lighting damage cause most eles will do it as soon as they swap into air for big burst.
