Another day, bored at work, doing the usual forum warrior buissness. Thought i would share the DS build I’ve been using its purty strong and I am still undefeated with it in duels, I honestly think its one of the strongest dueling builds in the game atm.

(well that site is acting weird. it should be 2 divinity, 2 traveler, 2 water – sigil of battle, sigil of force)

d/f is already super strong in duels and I used it to great success beating those pesky condi classes pre patch. It still remains our best weapon set for dueling imo, add in Diamond Skin and never worry about blackwater-perplex-dhumfire-shenanigans again!

you could take vital striking over cantrip mastery but the best burst u can get with d/f involves burning speed > lightning flash > arcane wave (this can easily hit for over 10k) the more often you can do it the better!

you have a block, invuln, reflect, projectile invuln, lots of slows, a daze, and a knockdown with complete condi immunity above 90% …. by the time they get through all this they are usually dead.

You could switch the runes to 4 resistance 2 melandru, pick earth IX, change food to lemongrass and dont forget to bring a cup with you to collect the necros tears

I find focus to be really good too now that I started using it 2 weeks ago in WvW. I’m only missing to try d/f but that will be after a month or so from now. I do notice that the number one enemy I find to be very easy to defeat with s/d becomes kinda of a pain with s/f and that is a power bunker thief that constantly steaths. With s/f I just don’t have the burst necessary to bring it down before he can resteath and recover. Against condition based players, focus is very ideal to counter them.

yea, i am not a fan of s/f the damage doesn’t seem to be there (because of awful autoattacks), but with d/f your autoattacks put out nice damage so you can keep up constant pressure. when all else fails – lightning whip!

I’m just a big fan of scepter burst but you are right on the auto attacks about it. I just looked at your build and notice your armor number and health pool is to what I consider to be very vulnerable to burst. I know you have focus inavulnerability skill to avoid them but if you faced a skillful burst type of player that pay close attentions to your active attunement and skills you are casting and already casted I believe your undefeated streak would stop

hmm around 2500 armor is pretty standard for me, but feel free to tweak things around to your liking!

I switched to d/f about two weeks ago, and man, I love it. I’d like to try it with a full celestial set, but for now i just use power/precision/toughness with earth runes. Really lets me live a bit longer against theives and warriors. doing 0/30/0/20/20 atm with the vulnerability trait from arcane spells in water and cleansing wave. Usually keep about 8-10 stacks of vulnerability on people this way. I also really like switching to water to do more than just heal. The double chilled is really nice and makes it easy to hit commet. In my opinion d/f is the best and most fun build as an ele atm.

I’ve had good success with d/f condition build in the past, but I just hate the mobility too much, and it’s worse for soloing camps. For strict dueling though I think it is superior to d/d. I always took 20% off earth cooldown instead of rock solid since earth focus skills are by far the most important focus skills.

I don’t fear any class but thief in duels. But oh man do thieves scare me. I suppose I have been running D/D instead of D/F lately, but I’m finding good thieves are getting harder and harder to beat in any build. I’m interested how you fare against d/p or s/d thieves in WvW.

It´s hard to master, but its worth it.

It´s based on permanent Protection, Fury, Vigor and ~20 Might.
Might: You need to blast all your Fire-Fields with dodge in Earth-Attunement
Fury/Protection: Use your Auras (well timed ofc!) and always use your Earth 3 Skill (Leap Finisher).
Vigor: comes automatically due the Arcane “II” Perk.

You may practise a lot, because it don´t excuse a lot mistakes to work well.

cant say ive ever fought a power / bunker theif, but i have yet to have any REALLY long drawn out fights using d/f, the damage can be huge… 10% more damage when endurance if full and 10% more damage when ur close and sigil of force all add up nice. the only extra damage off hand dagger provides during duels is firegrab (which can be quite alot) and fire 4, unless your using churning earth and its actually hitting ppl. but like i said, dont see many bunker theives… cant imagine they hurt very much though

There aren’t that many. I have only encountered 2 players executing this playstyle from close to a year I have been roaming in wvw with my ele.They don’t hurt much but they can’t be downed with average consistent damage. Massive d/d or s/d burst is absolutely a most to down these thieves otherwise the fight can go on forever or them downing you with 4-6k consistent back stab damage if you don’t have at least 2800 armor.

D/F just feels awkward for me as soon as someone gets on top of you. I probably need to practice with it more it’s just weird for me. I like s/d though I would think S/F as a good set but the same thing happens it just is weird when someone is on top of me.

I do not like liars. I transfered to HoD for a week and whipped this ele! If you go back to his video he only fights the same 3 people cause he knows he can beat them! There were like 20 people there! Liars will lie. Scrub ele.

D/F is nice and all, but its very kite-able. D/D already has some issues being kited if your opponent is smart, but d/f can’t do anything but slow down the ranged dps if its projectiles.

You might be experiencing “extra power” from the fact that you are playing a mythical unicorn that your enemies have no idea what to do against.

have no problems being kited with this… and yes alot of ppl dont even know ele has a focus thats one of the bonuses!!! no1 knows what to do! but still if they are kiting you succesully it does not matter yo have reflect and swirling winds and invuln …. and tons of condi clear with d/f ….

Like, in your videos I see you having about 16,2k HP when the post shows the HP pool at 15,3k. Also you seem to run the signet of restoration instead of ether renewal.

But since this build in particular spiked my interest due to my, similar, gameplay preferences, I would want to ask if you could refine the information :]

I really wish builds like this with the focus become popular so I can finally encounter at least one decent Ele with the focus off hand in WvW. I have hear there are a few out in lower tier servers but so far 0 from tier 1.

there it is …. that site was changing stuff around for some reason but seems to be working now. I think that extra health is from WvW buffs or that site is wrong. ive also been using SoR (along with life steal food) now because it keeps you topped off against condi classes.

Condition necros will dominate you easily with this build. Which i am using exact build with different gear but stuff is the same.

condi necros are a joke with diamond skin…. honestly that trait is ridiculous against condi classes, im more worried about power builds than condi with it

Nice to see a focus ele. I’ve tried the skills out, they’re very… clunky… I guess is how I’d describe them. You used them well, but at the same time, you didn’t duel people who would give anybody a hard time.

S/D ele — not a great one at that, GS guardian, no big deal in WvW for us eles and a warrior.

Post some more dueling videos, and you’ll lose more of the haters. Impeccable taste in music though!

Surely those opponents aren’t winning vs many others.
