Best joke ever: GW2 ele stronger than GW1 ele
For PvE, GW1’s Ele was in a bad situation for years in hard mode, but that was fixed. Still, it’s not a top tier class like the Mesmer or Ritualist, but it’s the best at AoE damage and compressed burst so it fills its few niches. For PvP, it was always a strong, solid profession, but the bars without exhaustion were way too mindless (old Invoke Lightning, Mind Blast, Blinding Surge, the new Shockwave)…
In GW2, eles seem to be a solid choice for PvE. Not “top-tier”, but mostly because pve is dominated by Hundred Blades, Guardians and other builds that were meant to be dodged or blocked more often than the AI is capable of (our AoE, especially S/D or D/D, is also excellent at abusing the AI, though, but we happen to need to dodge and move more often to survive, which makes it harder to keep foes in the same place). For PvP, we’re one of the top-tier professions, possibly comparable to what Warriors/ Melee were in GW1’s pvp.
SO the OP basically wants an overtly and greatly overpowered class to the rest? You sir are either trolling or not sure what gw2 is about.
Fuzzion.2504 you missed the point of the OP. He is commenting on how ridiculous it was having a warrior state that GW2 elementalist are better than GW1.
I have seen that post and it is nonsense. The warrior was saying that we output God-like damage. Has any ele managed to break the 10k in 1 hit yet? I have seen a warrior do it before but not an ele.

It is mathematically possible but rare.
Do we output like a god? If you mean burst we are 3rd or 4th on the list.

I think the warrior meant to say burst damage. I guess it is possible if one specialises as a glass cannon but that would ruin our survivability, won’t it? I suppose it also relies on the enemy blindly walking into the Giant Fiery Tooth of Doom That Has Red Circles.

Much akin to the, “Please stand in front of me while I swing my sword for 3 seconds in the same area, WAIT NOOO… you moved…”
It seems to be like that with a lot of professions. A GW1 necro would decimate a GW2 necro. Same with GW1 mesmer vs GW2 mesmer (I know right?! But is true). And ranger is in there too.
Don’t know about GW1 monk vs GW2 guardian… I think they just /roll that one out. lol
My Ele was my main Character in GW1 and now in GW2. They are different in a lot of ways, that’s for sure. I never delved into all the builds and tricks, but Ele did have a lot of powerful builds. One thing I did learn was the hard mode Tolani Academy Solo with earth skills. First time I tried it I was pretty amazed to see how well it worked.
However, I will say that I like the GW2 ele more than the GW1. When I first got GW1 I picked ele and failed at it. My favorite thing was spamming Flare, which wasn’t too effective. I wasn’t as good with the sit back and wait nuke style, I liked to be non-stop casting. I did eventually get the hang of it in GW1; but GW2 is far more my style for the ele. Half the time I can just stay attuned to Staff Fire and never run into trouble; the style of it is just suited for me. I even did decently in PvP with it (at least no worse than my Thief or Warrior. I’m not that good with PvP).
But anyway, while I like Ele more in GW2, it isn’t nearly as strong as GW1 Ele. Even with nuking, I feel like I am lacking options compared to the old (3 skills with 2 on long recharge). I guess I should be thankful that I can still go nuking, unlike the people who wanted to blind or super tank (well, the latter is still around, but I don’t think it is like before with the earth skills..).

10k in one hit? My warrior’s evisc hits for 15k quite regularly without any special set up.
I hated my GW 1 ele. So easily interrupted and on top of that you had exhaustion and mana to deal with.
