Best stat balance for d/d ele roaming?
there are several threads already, asking this same question.
Elementalists use different “setups” for focusing on certain statistics that fit their comfort zone.
I personally like having no less than 2500 armor, 1600 toughness, 1950 power, 25%-30% critical chance un buffed. I’d link the build I run but gw2skills seems to be down at the moment. its just the typical dagger dagger build tailored to my liking though.
helm-soldiers
shoulder – knights
coat- celestial
gloves-knights
leggings-celestial
boots-knights
celestial coat gives +47 to all stats, leggings give +32 so these 2 armor slots gave me the most all around return to the collective stats i was looking to improve, any other celestial armor pieces just werent worth it to me since they only give +16? i think it is.
daggers are 1 ascended cavalier and 1 ascended knights. trinkets are all ascended. amulet is celestial, accessories are berzerker, rings are 1 celestial and 1 soldier. traits are 0 3 1 4 6
Ferguson’s Crossing [MAIN]
around 2300 – 2600 armor
around 2k power
around 30% crit chance
and 16k Hp
those are basic stats, you can aim for more or less depending on your style
People do have different gear setup, depending on a lot of things which is probably mainly cash, but also min-maxing a certain stat.
You need to know yourself, your strength and weaknesses.
If you know you’re good enough at kiting, you don’t need a tanky build and can thus aim at something with more power/crit than vit/toughness
However if you’re like me and only know how to roll right into the bad place, aiming for more toughness and vit instead of going for power should do better.
Right now I’m running a mix of valkyrie/knight with runes of divinity, water and traveler. All buff and I have 2.2k power 2.7k armor 23% crit chance and 16k vit
the traits you run, the sigil and runes you’ll have and the stacks you can accumulate (might, bloodlust, applied strength/fortitude) should also play a role when creating a build.
All in all I think each builds should have a personal twist to it to fit the best it can the playstyle you have.
play with this:

be sure to at least get to the minimum stats required and then start min-maxing to find the balance that suits you the most
Basically what everyone else here has said, but also keep in mind that power > ferocity. I use the following build (with a few adjustments depending):

Works wonders for me. Some say the crit dmg is a tad low, but the 2100 power more than makes up for it imo. The sigisl can be changed, I just prefer doom over air atm because I encounter a lot of warriors and it just messes them up. Also great for 1v1ing other eles, and also helps a lot against engis and guards.
tl;dr
Soldier/knight mix is pretty much the way to go.
