Best way to play Staff Ele in WvW?
I run full heals. 10/0/0/30/30. Full Cleric’s.
Pros: Good heals, surprisingly solid damage, simple to play.
Cons: Terrible crit chance/crit damage. Go down pretty easily if focused and heals are on CD.
You can gear for damage and still be effective though. I fought a staff Ele today who hit for 3k per meteor. Anyone standing in the Meteor Shower melted in 5 seconds.
Was he going 30/30 in fire and air?
:/
Depends on what you want to do. If you enjoy defending towers/keeps/sm then the 30 in fire and air will be good for you. But if you enjoy fighting in the fields more with your zerg, then consider gearing up for a bit more survival. Staff is terrible in 1v1 situations so I would avoid those.
A 30 in fire and air in full zerk gear can hit a lot higher, I remember being hit for around 4.7k per meteor when I ran with 1303 toughness (2.2kish armor), but then that ele got mesmer focus pulled to edge and instantly downed xD
Full heals works well, but if you want to do some damage and still do some support a 0/20/0/20/30 works well. I run this with celestial trinkets and zerker gear for good dmg, though it is difficult in small groups because of survivability. Full celestial gear would make this build more balanced.
Depends on how you run with your guild.
It depends on your needs and the needs of the group you’ve chosen to run with. What’s working for me right now is running full Melandru armor which is healing power, precision, and vitality. I also wear the Melandru runes which are:
(1): +25 Toughness
(2): -10% Condition Duration
(3): +50 Toughness
(4): -10% Stun Duration
(5): +90 Toughness
(6): -15% Condition Duration; -15% Stun Duration (Karma armor is cheap when you run in WvW)
I wear ascended gear with precision and crit damage.
I’m traited 0/0/20/25/25 earth’s embrace-geomancer’s freedom (recover from crippled chilled and immobilized 33 % faster
Cleansing wave/aquamancer’s alacrity-ele attunement/blasting staff
I eat lemongrass poultry soup which is -40% condition duration or poultry and leek soup which is -36% but way cheaper.
I also run an air signet to make up for the loss in speed from not traiting anything into air, cleansing fire, and arcane wave. I switch between Elites just depending on what’s going on at the time.
this video has minimal editing and there’s a suggestion in the description of what part to skip if your pressed for time, but it shows the diminished effect of enemy c/c very well.
