Better Elite Skill Please
The elemental, I feel, is pretty worth using in most situations. Being able to choose from 4 different elementals definitely enhances its utility. It’s good for providing just that little bit extra that we need to be able to do something we otherwise couldn’t.
The problem is that it’s really the only one of our elite skills worth using.
Fiery Greatsword blows. Each attack it has is pretty decent, but the whole package is disjointed and weird. The main problem is that it replaces our abilities with something that’s only pretty decent instead of enhancing our abilities with something that’s pretty decent. The latter would be fine, the former is pretty bad.
Tornado is hilariously bad. The only reason to ever use it is as a joke. The ability to blind a bunch of things periodically is okay, but it throws stuff out of its AoE and removes the rest of our abilities. Again, replacing everything we do with something that’s pretty okay is not the same as enhancing the rest of our abilities with something that’s pretty okay. I can blind everything in an AoE with Glyph of Storms, and that doesn’t remove all my other abilities. Glyph of Storms > Tornado.
Whirlpool is okay because I honestly don’t miss my underwater skills nearly as much and the damage is rather good. The huge increase to all our stats also counts for something.
i must agree with MrQuizzles, skills are not that bad at all, but if you count in fact that they replaces our other abilities and forces us to do only few new skills, they are just not worth it… except elemental, which is something more, bonus to our standard skills, only one worth using, other skills are just good looking…
tornado compared to thiefs elite or necros elite is hillarious, thief have reflect, stability and TONS of aoe dmg, necro is almost unkillable, he can be focused by 3 ppl and still not die in that form :/ tornado is just hey guys, focus me, im gonna die soon only usefull moment is attack 1v1 on point when enemy dont have stability or lots of dmg
The glyph itself is great. I’d use it even if the other skills were viable. The main issue however with the elementals is a generic NPC AI issue. They tend to go down too easily by random instakill mechanics. But ranger, mesmer, necro and engineering pets suffer from the same AI flaw. Even other npcs do.
So to fix that, the solution lies in changing the npc mechanics across the board. Maybe they should be able to dodge, or maybe they should get some sort of damage reduction against (PvE) aoe attacks.
As for the Great Sword, a change was made recently and to it was a step in the right direction. It may need a few more tweaks, but it’s getting there.
As for the Tornado, I just don’t like form changing skills that last short enough that I need to use them twice just to read the skill descriptions.
Use the Elemental elite and spawn the earth elemental, that thing is an absolute beast at tanking.
Lol how are you saying tornado is useless? That knockback can win you a fight or a point or save your buddy or knock a warrior to his death or much more.
I love using the Elemental glyph while in fire… so nice to get 3 random stacks of might or have the enemy crippled (or both) all the while it does great damage and evades attacks. The AI isn’t perfect but AI won’t be perfect… and compared to any other AI companion I’ve had (done a lil with ranger, no necro though, and anyone you get partnered up with for story missions) I would have to say the Fire Elemental is actually a bit OP.
Not trying to complain, don’t want it nerfed to hell as well… but if you stop and think about it you probably wouldn’t complain that it’s a bad skill.
