[Builds] Finally beat the Vale Guardian!
Congrats! Very nice job.
Just a tip – for the Vale Guardian though I’d suggest forgoing the staff for dagger/x as it lets you do more reliable damage since lava font is a pain to use on it.

The DPS Ele used Dagger/X.

Oh, I see . I thought you were using staff to DPS XD

Updated to add a third build our guild ended up using.
May I know your skill rotations and whether taking earth over arcane for traits will be better? I was also wondering whether auramancer will be good in pve
I don’t actually think Arcana or Earth are good over Fire. Go Fire/Air/Tempest all the way. But I just thought it’d be nice to share the builds we used for our Vale Guardian kill (much easier than the other two bosses).
Your utilities are probably best left as “Wash The Pain Away”, “Rebound”, “Ice Bow”, “Glyph of Storms”, and… something. Dunno what else. Maybe the earth shout for the immobilize?
And of course all Berserker gear with a Force Sigil and Scholar Runes and such.

Using dagger/focus or war horn?
Hey man,
My mains are tempest and chronomancer, both zerk with ascended weapons and trinkets.
Let me know if you have a slot for me in your raid guild?
Focus, mainly because Focus Air 5 is a GREAT Breakbar breaker.
So to confirm you are using d/f fire/air/tempest dos build? And you would be swapping I between fire and air? And sometimes water for healing?
For DPS, use Particlar’s D/F Ele in the description: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=elV5EiNU4dM
I don’t really understand why Fire is used over Arcane though. All the raids I’ve been in I’ve had 5 or more boons on me all the time. If you play Fresh Air ele that means anything other than OLA spam is a DPS loss so there is no use for the power boost or 10% fire dmg boost you get. The only time you go out of air is to reset your cooldown. Arcane gives you boon duration, often alot more than 10% dmg, more vigor uptime and elemental attunement. Especially since it’s no longer Ele’s job to provide might and fury as other classes do it better, i’d say maximizing personal DPS is the best choice. That means maximizing OLA damage. Hell, most of the time the air cooldown resets so fast that casting drakes breath or cone of cold takes another second that I could have spent in Air and used Lightning Whip.
Fire should only be used on staff builds and the only reason it was ever used on D/X in fractals and dungeons was because there were no revenants and Ele could give long fury the easiest.

Hrmm… not sure the small addition to boon duration is that vital either since, as you say, you aren’t the one supplying them (rev/warr is). Also, 6 boons with 100% uptime during a fight isn’t trivial… neither is 5 boons which is what you would need to compete with the fire line’s 10% dmg to burning foes (boss will be burning 100% of the time from SOMEONE), plus the added tick dmg from your own burns from crits trait. The added vigor might make it worth it though in some fights. It really just depends on boon uptime to be fully effective with Arcane as damage, otherwise Fire is just a foolproof dps increase.
but tempest is garbage and underpowered and does everything baseline d/x ele does but worse? it has lol damage and no support? warhorn has no place in the game? tempest will never be taken for any meta groups for raids or pvp?
tempest all day

Hehehe, indeed.
To be honest that’s all true. Once raids go on farm mode people would rather run more of the better classes like revs than use Tempest. The DPS is high but thats about it. All the previous roles Ele has had in vanilla PvE have now been taken by other classes, and they are doing it better. DPS is all they have left and such I could only see Ele being brought if a guild doesn’t have access to a third rev.

Warhorn is still bad, Tempest on the other hand is good.

on this point,
you only need 10 engis
condi/power/tank 2-4 take scrapper line for ranged res easy might stacking highest dps easy tanking
this will def be meta, MAYBE one warrior for banners

How ’bout boonstripping? Better bring a single chrono as well

when youre right, youre right.
So one warrior, one chrono, 8 engis.
OR we can forget banners and chrono, and keep it meta…
9 engis, one rev with mallyx and glint. boonstrip and aoe might just in case
I know you’re joking but the current template for most teams that killed at least gorseval is something like that:
2 berserkers with PS/EA for might stacking and fury
2 heralds for fury stacking
1 chrono
1 druid for dps boosts and heals
That leaves 4 slots for dps oriented builds like condie engies, condie zerker, tempest, etc
Tempest as a spec that was advertised as a front line support failed horribly because Druid is a much better choice. Tempest has to increase its healing power/concentration to even have a similar potential as Druid (which can be a raid healer with just a berserker’s gear) and it doesn’t bring any unique dps boosts, again, unlike Druid. Grace of the Land, Glyph of Empowerment and somewhat bugged Frost Spirit increase your party (more like half of your party) damage by a considerable margin.
Once you get to Gorseval you’ll find out that there’s a little place for defensive tempest because that boss is a very strict dps check which requires finely tuned party composition.

Yeah, doesn’t make any sense. So like when raids go on farm mode, because they have mastered the content, that’s the magic moment when people are going to stop taking elementalists over the “better” classes. Apparently, right now, all the raids running dps elementalists when they are still mastering content, are doing it, because they all like the extra challenge of not having one of the “better” classes?
And alternatively, if that’s true, I’m sure there is some guilds out there that aren’t fully populated by a bunch of try hards who will run differing compositions based on what their members find to be fun.
