Hey,

I started PvP a few days ago(rank 10 now) and I´am curios about the burst build a.k.a you´ll die in 3 seconds build. Can someone tell me about the traits? Which skills to use? Any advices?

The burst build comes in different degrees of silly. Basically you use S/D with two arcanes and lightning flash and a zerker amulet. Traits are up to you. Do you want to be massively silly? Pick all dmg modifiers + scholar runes and disregard every notion of heals/boons/condi cleanse. The more traditional you go (e.g. lyssa runes+30 arcane), the less silly your build becomes.

ok so the burst build that use in hotjoins is 0/30/25/10/5 with ether renewal, arcane wave, lightning flash and armour of earth for stomps.
the traits are:
Air – Bolt to the heart, Air training, tempest defense
Earth – Stone Splinters, Earth’s embrace
Water – Vital Striking

The build is based all around damage modifiers as follows:
Bolt to the Heart – 10% more damage when foe’s health is below 33%
Air Training – 10% more damage when attuned to air
Tempest Defense – 20% more damage to stunned or knocked down foes
Stone Splinters – 10% more damage when within 600 units of target
Enduring Damage – 10% more damage when endurance is full
Vital Striking – 10% more damage when health is above 90%
Scholar Runes – 10% more damage when health is above 90%
Sigil of Force – 5% extra damage
So all up at total of 85% extra damage

The combo for the burst is

1. Hurl
2. Lighting Flash
3. Earthquake
4. Electric Discharge (from attuning to air)
5. Lighting Strike
6. Arcane Wave
7. Lighting Strike from sigil will happen somewhere in the burst
This initial burst hits for somewhere around 20K

If that doesn’t kill your oppenant follow it up with RTL > Updraft > Phoenix to down them
The next part for somewhere around 5 – 7K

No one so far has any idea what they’re talking about. (I’m kidding! But really.) I have zero idea how scepter can be considered burst, but whatevsies. To those that make it work, woo woo.

I use staff for the omgzerker build. My favorite setup is 30/30/0/0/10, or 20/30/0/0/20 both Blasting Staff AND the Arcane cd mod.

The trait choices are:
Fire – VI, VII, XII
Air – VI, VII, XI
Arcane – V

In Fire, VII can be swapped for V if you like the condi pressure. In Air, I sometimes don’t focus on Arcane as much and swap VII for IX so I can do more Static Field- Eruption – Lava Font combos.

Skills: Arcane Blast, Arcane Wave, and Arcane Shield
Heal: Either Ether Renewal if you want the condi cleanse (you won’t need a bursty heal since you’ll die anyway, but you don’t want to die to stray condis… that’s just embarrassing) or the Arcane heal thing.

Amulet: Berskerer or Barbarian

Make sure you master this combo: Static Field, Eruption, Shock Wave, Arcane Blast, Lava Font, Flame Burst, Arcane Wave. It’s all gotta be fast AF up to the Shock Wave if it’s going to work.

Also, Meteor Shower + going straight into Tornado is a really, really awesome move for big node battles.

Tips: Don’t be afraid to stick in fire after you’ve intro’d in Air and Earth. Those might stacks add up beautifully and your Fire1’s will be doing up to 3,000 dmg a pop after some warmup. Also, if someone gets low, remember your Bolt to the Heart +20% modifier and the Arcane crit buff… so don’t be bashful with an Arcane Blast / Wave double combo. If you do have to heal, take advantage of the water fields on Water 3 and 5 and either use your blast heal or arcane wave inside it to get a combo. These can also be used to heal up your teammates from afar.

With this setup, you’ll either kill someone while they’re still laughing at the idea of an elementalist attacking them or you’ll die miserably.

To the person above:

scepter is considered burst because it unloads large amount of damage in a very condensed period of time

also, you should consider using arcane wave right after lavafont to gain might for later skills, and save arcane blast for afterwards to get the added power

double also: burning retreat + light flash combo onto immobed enemy, then you can arcane wave that spot for might, as the now stacked tail of fire4 acts as a field

Water 2 is your hardest hitting ability with zerker staff. After shock wave, throw it onto them, arcane blast, air 15, lava font, arcane wave, air 15.

Thanks, Muppet. I’ll have to try that. I use the Arcane Blast early to get the +10% crit before the Lava Font and the Arcane Wave and anything else that happens to occur. Plus, with a 16 sec CD, I’ve found it’s better to go Zerker in playstyle than to hold back, but perhaps you’re right.

And the combo sounds pretty cool. I happen to hate Lightning Flash, but if it works for the OP, power to it. Thanks for the input. I’ll try it out as well.

I don’t even know off the top of my head this morning what Water 2 on Staff is.

Having 2 armor of earth’s is very clutch for the highest burst build in game. :P

edit: I’ll one up yah and say I use this in tpvp with good success.

I never see Arcane Power mentioned in burst strategies. Doesn’t guaranteed crits on your next five attacks fit in with bursting?

The Insta-kill scepter burst people love involves many packets of damage from pressing a total of 8 buttons very fast/at the same time. Hurl+Earthquake→Lightning Flash→Air Attune+Lightning Strike+Arcane Blast+Arcane Wave+RTL. Packets of damage also come from Electric Discharge and Sigil Hydromancy or Geomancy (soon possibly both) for those who use Tempest Defense. Hurl itself is kittens and easily ruins AP.

AP is still used by pansy bursts Eles who seek survivability through Valkyrie Amulet but they die about as fast as Zerker eles anyway since despite the toughness they only 12-13k HP.

Quasi-elitist dungeoneer and missing Gw1 GvGs greatly.
