I just wanted to make a semi inebriated post about my views on Eles. Bear with me please.

I started out playing an engineer at release. Idea was, “I’m gonna support my buddies, do a bunch of kit switching, have an active playstyle….” for some reason it just didn’t click. I tried different builds in pve and spvp. Don’t get me wrong, Engis are fun and I love the idea behind them and their steam punk turrets and stuff, gameplay is pretty fun…..

And then I started playing a mesmer with the idea of “I’m gonna confuse people, do a bunch of clone spawning, and have an active playstyle…” and that was my first 80. all was well untill I played 60-70 spvp matches with him, when I realized “Kitten, I can stomp baddies but good players always see through the clones and stay right on me”….and that kinda messed up the Mesmer for me.

Finally I rolled an ele, still leveling her up, played a ton of spvp with a ridiculous amount of builds. Close to level 70 in PvE. I’ve gotta say, most fun I’ve had in PvE and in PvP/Wv3. I don’t roflstomp everyone. its fo sho not a faceroll class. But maaaaaaaan, some of the crazy stuff I can pull off due to this classes versatility and survivability is insane. I love swapping attunements, having to make split decision calls as to whether to go from Fire to Water or Earth depending on the situation…, to use X utility now or save it for when I swap to X element…Its engrossing. I love this class.

Yeah we need some bug fixes, maybe even have some attunements damage tuned up a little, but I can wait. I personally think Anet did a great job with the idea of this classes playstyle.

Yeah Ele is great,i love the spell swapping and all things <3,the weapon stances are all great and fun,you can really fit the need of every party with the right weapon at the right time.

I agree with you, I never had more fun with any other profession than my Ele and I’ve tried most of them, except engineer and necromancer. The Elementalist is my favorite even if the prof seems a lot weaker than others, it’s a lot more fun and engaging to play and that’s what matters the most for me

Agreed. I’ve tried several other professions, but mained a Necro for a long time. While I still have love for my roots as Necro, Ele has been the most fun and engaging one I’ve played.

Started as scepter dagger, moved to D/D and it’s super fun. Everytime I get a solid matchup in PvP it feels like an episode of DBZ. Flipping all over the place, dashing here, teleporting there, dodgeing, and just generally attacking at full on sanic speeds. it’s just so fast paced and I love it.

What a great drunken post. My first toon was an 80 ranger. He’s so broken it’s ridiculous. It’s as if my legs are broken, I go to the doctor and he says “Well, your arm is too strong so I’m going to break that too. Oh your legs? Yeah I’ll get that next visit”

I rolled a thief who is now level 80. I love the thief. I’m not the build of the month. I roll with more of a very select condition damage build that’s used in my W3 group. He’s getting a little old because the gameplay is relatively similar. Dstorm in a zerg, pew pew w/ the shortbow while looking for stragglers to go harass.

My elementalist is level 32 right now and I’m absolutely in love with her. Yes, sometimes my girlfriend gets jealous. I agree with everything the OP said. I did my first sPvP run yesterday. A couple of games in I kinda knew what to do. I was owning the other teams treb with a warrior, theif, and ranger on my tail. Finished off the treb and played with them for a minute or so before they finally killed me. Afterwards was a great feeling when I see “ kitten ele” in chat =)

Elementalist is the only class that I love everything about, while still hating most traits.

:) glad some folks agree. This is a profession where the player makes or breaks it. I’ve fought against bad eles of all builds and great eles too. It’s not class mechanics that inhibit us, its decision making and quick thinking. So many times I’ve ended up somewhere I shouldn’t be…like 1v5s on a point. Nothing an earthquake followed by RTL couldn’t fix lol.

(If I was Dapheonix the 1v5 would be easy lol. Props to him)

I swear that man doesn’t use a keyboard but a magnetic link to his brain so he can just think what he wants it to do… I watch some of these videos of all these ele’s in pvp and they hitting like 3 – 4 buttons at once.

I don’t know about you all, but if I hit 3 buttons at a time on my laptop, it doesn’t work in game.

So if I am holding W+D for my running diagonal and i hit an attunement key or a skill button, it will not work unless i let go of W or D.

Actually…he uses a regular keyboard and standard mouse lol. Maaaad skillllz. I think most of it is just muscle memory. In pvp I’ve got my cooldowns kinda memorized. I know if I use abilities x and y from attunement 1, I can go through x amount of skills before the first two abilities I used are back up. It’s just practice practice practice…lol

That’s a keyboard limitation, most desktop keyboards can take a few more simultaneous key presses. A lot of players (myself included) also use gaming mice with a number of buttons on them, and thus completely bypassing the keyboard for ability usage. I use a Razer Naga so I have all my skills readily accessible by my thumb.
