Ok so I’ve encountered this build a few times.

It’s basically taking the standard D/D Bunker build with the high mobility, healing and survivability and combining it with a conjured Flame Sword for very high DPS.

It makes them almost like Warriors in a way, except that they have to press buttons to heal.

So what exactly is this build and gear that makes it so incredibly effective? Because I literally could not kill the last Ele I met with this build in WvW while a single Flamesword Whirl would take 40% of my HP.

This build used to be much more effective because of signet of restoration and especially before the cantrip nerfs. Right now it’s questionably effective in spvp. It’s better in wvw where the bould doesn’t suffer as much from the pvp-specific nerfs.
Basically the build is effective because of lots of little heals, good mobility and high boon uptime. Also because it is considered “melee” it does have some nice damage coefficient on a lot of skills, but also has 600 range on others making it between melee and ranged.

I don’t know if it is particularly a specific build designed behind FGS. It is probably just FGS with a direct damage setup like normal. The FGS does add 260 power and 180 condition damage. A ele would have to be in full clerics or or something to not do good damage with FGS. Attunement swap still lets you still heal and use Evasive arcana heal. Signet of Resto lets you get some health while you use the skills. Spam auto attack and lightning flash, whirl to cripple/avoid big damage, Fiery Rush at the appropriate time for dat insta-gib.

Edit: Now that I think about it you would have to be in gear with no power on it at all to not do good damage with it.
