Hey all,

I would like to just ask everyone about these combo fields/finishers options on most skills of elementalist ( and most classes ). What exactly are them and how exactly do I use them?

the idea is you open with a combo field, and then launch a skill within it for a combo finisher…

for instance, say you’re a d/d ele.

You open with ring of fire, which is an opener. Swap to earth quickly and lay down churning earth. That is called a blast finisher and gives might to yourself and your whole team.

Through these combos is how you will become most effective as an ele. You’ll start to see other ele’s, like say a staff ele, lay down other openers like healing rain and you’ll learn to use your finishers inside those openers. This is how we can stack might all over our team, heal the whole team. Most other classes (and even a lot of ele players who have them as alts) don’t understand just how much we are able to do to buff our team, and without sacrificing much damage or health of our own.

Even better: With d/d, open with ring of fire, and then finish with Magnetic Grasp (leap finisher, gives a fire field), Earthquake (blast finisher, gives might), AND Churning Earth (second blast finisher, gives MORE might).

I do this but throw in arcane wave also so it’s a quick 10 stacks of area might counting fire swap (35 power/ condition damage per stack) so you have effectively provided a major buff to the team.

i don’t use arcane wave, and stack to 17 might after the chain tarvok posted and popping cantrips, however for dungeons I really should consider swapping cleansing flame or armor of earth (both give 3 stacks with power trait spell slinger) out for arcane wave if it’s a 10 stack add. Cleansing flame does serve a dual purpose for WvW and PvP, helps get out of tricky spots when rangers, thieves or other ele’s slow you up, however for dungeon runs, I’d sacrifice the condition removal and 3 stacks of might from cleansing flame for the 10 stacks that wave offers!!!
