Condi Ele is much better a year later now ^_^
Its not as fun as power
Bad Elementalist
Those are some nice stats, but it has like 300 less armour and 3000 less health than a warrior in full dire.
yea i have a warrior as well but its not as fun to play, at least to me i like picking an underdog class and rolling with it and with this build i have been having alot of success. Give it a try its pretty fun =D
it has 3382 armor with rock barrier up
Post a video of obsidian sanctum duels (wvw) against good people please.
Condition ele is a lot of fun. I have my own ascended set for condition builds now too and i love it. I still see burst as more enjoyable but that is very subjective.

All I gotta say is you’re welcome.

Don’t really like scepter on condi ele, earth 1 bleedings are attractive but the weapon is so slow for non fresh air burst builds. You can have acces to torment via sigils, it’s jut one stack though, but has very good duration.
Everybody is trying condi ele after perplexity, kinda scary for ppl like me that have been trying it since… Forever… It’s funnier then burst IMO, but to each it’s own.
I’d go as far as to say that any player struggling with ele in someway or another (dying all the time, new to the game) to play condition. Like, it hoenstly feels like training wheels in a lot of regards. You have soooo many defensive stats thanks to condition gear having that certain affinity. Like, go dire and apothacary and you heal like no tomorrow, and it’s so simple to 2v1. A lot of eles have long disagreed it being a valid way to the class, but I think many would regard it as cheap (myself included).
Power is a heck of a lot more fun though (aside from watching a poor guy melting away to them condies) and, seriously, a hell of a lot more rewarding.
But if too many of you start to run it, I will be running diamond skin. So watch the kitten out!

Its interesting how builds have evolved. Ill always use the spec I posted 6 months ago though. Condi ele is strong against the condi meta ironically

You’d be surprised at the raw damage condi builds can do, I’m dire/apoth and my hard hiting skills like fire grab still reach 2,5-3k crits, never really had a problem with diamond skin.
To your other point, don’t really think it’s a training wheels build, it may have more defensive stats, but you may find yourself being very ineffective damage wise if you don’t know how and when to apply your conditions. The main difference I see in burst and condi ele comes to the flow of the battle, burst requires you to be fast, condi requires patience, a thief may not take me down to 25% hp instantly but due to the nature of my damage he may have many other opportunities to burst me or reset the battle. Thinking you’ll be very tanky as ele with def stats is just as wrong as thinking you’ll burst everything down instantly with power/crits.
In wvw I think condi or condi hybrid (celestial) d/d or d/f ele is the most viable ele. However, the problem is perplexity will likely get torn a new one when they overhaul runes… and really, perplexity is the only thing changed since a year ago.
Geomancy sigil is getting nerfed as well (they are nerfing the direct damage). Although we will be able to stack doom and geomancy, wars will benefit even more with potential for 4 on swap sigils.

I’d say FGS could be more useful than Reaper of Grenth, that #2 has some ridiculous burning.

From experience, it’s usually easy to keep up diamond skin with usual ele healing nonsense, so even with your “burst” can still easily keep it up. And applying conditions as a condi ele is sooooo easy. I mean, drakes breath. Soo easy. I will stand, no, shout out, that condi ele is simple to play compared to power builds and incredibly forgiving. Nobody DARE tell me it isn’t, or I’ll judge you. Anybody diligent in their cleansing usually have a better time fighting them, but still.

You may judge me because I will reiterate that doesn’t matter how “simple” it is the bottom line is it’s effectiveness.
I could sooo easily spam drake’s breath all day and not kill fly as I could do an entire burst rotation and end up spiked on the floor. The resilience given by my stats doesn’t grant me space to make mistakes, as you assumed, it’s there because I do damage over time and my enemy has much more space to react so I need to sustain myself to be effective. A power ele doesn’t get as much resilience from his stats but can put an incredible high pressure on their enemies, giving them much less space to react and thus being effective.
Now now, people may claim that sustain is a problem for power eles, but I think it’s a problem in many builds, even in mine! Again, it’s all about the flow of the battle, fast passed for power, slower for condi, make mistakes and you’re a dead elementalist. At the current state of the class both builds can be fun and rewarding and in my opinion both are easy to play.

some Videos would be nice
Look up bad elementalist on youtube. My video quality is low but it shows great fights with my condi build

I would probably agree a condi build is more forgiving. Which is good, since I am still learning the class. I am doing ok with my current build but likely it could be tweaked to be more effective. A few of you have mentioned your builds. Would love to see them.
This is the Signet build I am using. I can’t help but think there is likely a better way. A reminder. Err on the side of HPs/Tough since I am still learning.
100% for WvW. Cruising around outside the zerg. Trying to pick off people outside the zerg and at times making a Leroy Jenkins probe into the zerg.
This is what i am currently running.
The Heal is changed between Ether Renewal and SoR even though its average it still offers decent sustain. Though i wish it proc’ed multiple times on channeled skills.
The Elite is 90% of the time Reaper of Grenth, should it be needed and right situation i do some times use Tornado as well.
I run with Corruption and Geomancy until i hit 25 stacks and then i swap corruption out for Tormenting.
I still need to upgrade Zinn’s Data Crystal and will likely go for Matriarch’s Quill defensive infusion version.
I would say that Condition builds as an Ele is MUCH harder to use than those of other classes that just have insane options for conditions – Warriors, Thief, Engineer, Necromancer and Mesmer can melt people faster. We rely on such a limited dumber of conditions that we are forced into taking things like Perplexity, Geomancy and Tormenting to keep the damaging conditions as safe as possible.
I do some times miss not having Diamond Skin, but i cant take points from else where, 20 into Water is pretty much a requirement and same goes for the 30 into Arcana
