Condition Damage Ele Build

Thank you! I love the idea of a tempest build
Hey, thanks for linking Prism
If you have any further questions Sanquinn, feel free to ask here!
As of now, I got everything for this build except the viper’s weapon. On my weapons, I put sigil of smoldering and condi duration increase. In total, I got 95% burning duration and I was wondering if the bursting sigil made a big damage difference? I hit 14k burn highest so far…
Also, I feel like this build has low survivability, any tips?
indeed
how good is it against things that fight back? bloomhunger is just a punching bag. literally the easiest fractal boss
I failed to mention it in the video, but using ascended quality head and legs will give you 74 expertise, which is 1 expertise away from 100%. I’d go this route instead of a viper weapon. Potentioally you can go with vipers amulet for close to the same result.
Regarding keeping up the DPS in a real fight, yes it is rather difficult. I’d say this is the most fragile spec the ele has (or maybe I’m just not used to it) for great damage. I can’t think of any concrete tips other than the usual avoidance, try to stand behind the target etc.
DPS like the shown bloomhunger can be kept up on Sabetha, though that is basically the same case. I think you’ll lose a lot of damage using this build in an encounter you’re not used to compared to using a staff build, but that’ll diminish as you become more knowledgable.
Thank you for the advice and so should I go for the ascended vipers weapon or the gear? I just finished my ascended gear for the staff build and now starting to work on condi. So, 2 viper pieces, rest sinister?? (weapons too?)
Also, instead of using sinister, won’t rabid help with survivability as well?
yes it does. I run mainly rabid but plan to change some pieces to wanderer and a bit viper.
I’d use carrion over rabid. Condi ele doesn’t get anything out of precision. And vitality is better than toughness for dealing with ele’s main defensive issue – getting one-shotted
i havent seen the video but will do after my work :P
i started condition burn tempest for vale guard when it first started.. did S/x (i like offhands dagger or warhorn), using fire and earth traits maximising condi damage by converting toughness and power into condi damage with traits Power Overwhelming & Strength of Stone — sometimes i take Pyromancer’s Training instead of power overwhelming. Also use Written in Stone for fire signets.
For utility I take signets of fire and feel the burn, glyph of storms and glyph of elementals..
I think its playable ^.^

Been trying out 2 types of builds lately. Fist one is a strait up condi build using dire everything. Have Balthazar runes, 20% burn sigil and doom on off hand, D/F most of the time. Water/arcane/tempest with water as cantrip setup for my regen/vigor. Can really wreck havoc on people, tough if they have lots of condi clean.
Second is a hybrid build with Dire weapons, mix 1/2 Carrion/Rabid armor with Elementalist runes. Have split rampager rings and dire accessories. Super veggie and maintenance oil as foods. This is around 1200 condi damage and almost 40% crit.
Just find having water is a must, arcane can be swapped out for what ever you like. Just find arcane is so nice to have, so slow with out it. Tempest is just fun to have, found out the hard way on when to use overloads…..patience is a vurtue and timing is everything.
Found out many times I just suck at this game….lol. But when I do play correctly I feel good at winning the fights and can cause a lot of destruction.
Play mostly WvW btw.
Also want to add, use GW2 build craft alot to see what i end up with. Then i go out and test it. You can always change and move something around to get what you like. What i posted above is just a basic starting point, i do have an ascended amulet and usually use so that changes some stats…etc…
Ultimately it comes down to YOUR play style and what you like. I had to play around alot and change my play style to make these builds work for me. I have seen tempest builds that seem to me, one trick pony’s. They are straight up damage, but I am not one for this meta. Unfortunately, many classes set up this way, do alot of damage quick. Pew..pew…pew or backstab, backstab and clones go boom your dead <cough>. Can add in tempest as well with air overload, fresh air and repeat. Of course never died in 3 or 4 seconds to an elemetalist <cough> but others I have <cough>.
In Pve, Ive noticed that ele is squishy in general. Either you must be good at dodging and such or must have a decent build that will keep you alive. For my tempest build, I switch out air to water or earth just for survival. Also, for condi ele, I was wondering if u guys use warhorn or focus? I feel like focus is good if u can land down the 4 right, or otherwise I think warhorn would be better. Monsters do tend to move around and this usually end up causing u to looks like 5-6 burn stacks just because you missed ur 4.
Btw, I am starting to run Fire/Earth/Tempest for my condi as well. I feel like rabid would work for maximum damage with the 10% toughness converting to condi dmg with earth trait? Or..would the arance trait 9-10k dodge by more suitable?
If possible, can you guys setup ur builds here? Would love to see the different kinds of condi ele builds.
