Condition or Crit damage?

Got bored of a bunker Asuran so deleted and remade as a DPS Sylvari! Not my main buuut anyway. I’m nearing level 80 again and I can’t decide if I want to invest in Full Zerkers or Full Rampagers. I’m 15/25/0/0/30. Using Scepter/Dagger or Staff. It seems Staff benefits more from Crit damage and Scepter benefits more from conditions…so I’ll probably end up getting a set of both :P But for now, anyone got any insights/advice? Please note I am not at all interested in WvW so comments like “Just about any other class can kill you before you login” is not helpful. Thanks!

P.S: I also prefer to make and figure out my own builds so don’t waste your own time telling me a better trait spread. xD Though you can if you like and I’ll read but I probably won’t take any of it back with me.

Hopefully you’re not implying that both were elementalists.

Unless it was a level 1 spvp char, even then, you don’t have to delete something to change a spec.

Too much free time is too much free time…..
As for the question zerkers all the way, precision is worthless without crit dmg and conditions are just an afterthought on the ele not our primary dmg source.

you deleted a level 80 to create another same class level 80? very smart…

Fact: every Thief tells you to “l2p” when the subject is to nerf stealth.

Again…. the class wasn’t what I cared about it was the race. Seriously. Posted asking for an opinion and just get stupid replies for something insignificant. I’m sorry you guys don’t care about what race your toon is or that you can craft it to high level pretty fast. Some of us like some variation with our toons and it’s not like there’s much else to spend gold on when you don’t care about legendary farming. facepalm Thanks Walker, Damage it is..

You know, if someone wants to reroll at 80 and level up again, it’s their choice. This is a game, and if rerolling to switch races is how someone wants to play, that’s not “doing it wrong.”

Frankly I’ve thought about rerolling my Engineer just to change her name. Currently she’s level 63 and I just keep playing. I might get to 80 and do it anyway. I actually enjoy leveling anyway.

There is a balance in there to be sure re precision and crit damage. I would say it the other way around. Crit damage without precision is worthless. Precision by itself is just fine.

Base crit damage is 150% of base damage. A crit percentage increase via precision of around 40-50% would give a significant overall increase over total damage even if someone was carrying a zero additional increase in crit damage. A crit percentage of 40-50% is not hard to get with mostly gear and that is without Fury figured in. The OP should not have any trouble at all with 25 in Air. Add fury and this gives a significant overall increase in the classes damage without having to go into power or crit damage at all.

Another significant benefit of high crit percentage imo comes from the Arcane trait Renewing Stamina which gives vigor on a crit. High crit percentage is alot of Endurance for alot of Dodges, the best defensive skill we possess.

Heavy use of dodging as a damage modifier has its pluses and minuses. Evasive Arcana is all about dodges. Resulting in a slow pace of play, dodging does not, but obviously at some point the dodges can run out.

imo the subject of dodges however significantly alters the converation re precision. It’s not just about the damage if we can generate reliable vigor too.

I can’t answer your question. I came here to lol at all the replies.

My friend used to play Tera and he leveled about 30 characters to lvl 20-30 and deleted them all trying to find the right class animations. Thankfully in GW2 he has only deleted about 15 characters so far, keep telling him about the mists to try out animations but he doesn’t care, then he wondered why he got bored of the game (not leveling a single character past lvl 20ish, doing all the starting areas so many times, by starting areas, I mean human area 15 times … ).
