Conjured weapons are nifty but....
Yeah lets turn the squishey range class into a melee dps that does low damage and dies to everything.
Basically the 4 -5 weapons are totally wasted utility slots, none of them are viable in competitive pvp and i would be perfectly happy if they were removed and replaced with anything.

You obviously haven’t tried frost bow, earth shield or the greatsword.
The real issue with them is that they don’t scale right at 80. When you’re in blues and greens leveling they’re actually decent, but once you get nice exotic 80 weapons with superior sigils, you see the issue.

Completely aside from competitive PvP I’ve had fairly good survivability in PvE out of the little bit I used Lightning Hammer. It probably has something to do with the somewhat spammable AoE damage/blind on the third button one skill thunderclap.

Frostbow – low dps, low healing
Greatsword – Elite skill, low damage, low range
Earth shield, meh
None are viable in sPvP, worthless skills.
Greatsword in a condition damage build deals 10k worth of burning damage in a single usage of #2 skill, and you can spam it each 5s, while evading or keeping your distance inbetween. Call that worthless. :P
Fiery Greatsword is better than people give credit for, in the right build.
The conjured weapons are lack luster because they don’t have an “auto attack” between skills. They didn’t put enough utility to make up for the lack of dmg of those melee/ranged attacks that are missing.

Engineer kits don’t have auto attack either and almost everyone agrees engineer kits if used properly are amazing (except the universal toolkit as that one is just too weird and random)
You’re thinking about the conjured weapons all wrong. You should hop into them, use a couple of the skills and hop back to your normal skills, which engineers do. Not just run around with the conjured weapon because it has a timer.

Just to reiterate here, not good in sPvP =/= worthless skill. There’s a whole lot more game to GW2 that just sPvP.
I like the idea of them in theory. The concept of wielding a solid manifestation of a given element like a weapon is a cool one. The problem is they lock you out of all your other skills without really giveing you anything extra to compensate. Lightning hammer comes close with the extra cc and nice damage. And As other people have said FGS Does do alot more damage than people seem to think.
The other problem is the weapon takes up a precious slot up on your utility bar and as a DD Ele I need those for defence. Now if they were one skill like the elementals and summoned a weapon based on your current attunment I would deffinatly think it would be worth a space on my bar. What would also helped would be to either remove the time limit or shorten the cooldowns on the skills.

Are you insane? Yeah lets use our “elite” skill do one charge then drop it. Well worth the slot so happy we have it. Oh and the 2sec cast time.. yay.

The mobs no, but the other players will. Unbalanced pve leads to an unsatisfied playerbase and to profession/ build discrimination. It’s a very relevant issue for pve.

That’s because engineers can hop in and out of their kit without penalty, that’s how their class was designed. Now imagine if they could only use a kit once every 2 minutes, I doubt they’d still be so excited about them.

Really? Balance is always important whether its in PvP or PvE, it’s often just highlighted in PvP games more readily. Seriously, even in completely PvE games if one class/weapon/build is out of balance then players complain, migrate to other build/weapons/classes and then in a good PvE game the devs eventually nerf/buff/fix things.
Just because you may not care about PvE don’t mistake that for the devs/other players not caring.
also the conjured weapons don’t downscale….or if they are supposed to I dunno, but if you have them in lower leveled area’s the damage is insane, especially from AOE attacks.
Conjure Lightning Hammer is one of the best skills Ele has for PvE, and Conjure Fiery Greatsword can deal huge damage.
Frost Bow could be nice if it would do more damage instead of healing and two or three skills had a 1200 range.
Flame Axe and Stone Shield look like lackluster to me, so far I don’t see why one should want to use them or how some simple number tweaking could make them desirable.
Also, they’re bugged. When you have a trait that says: "Reduce the recharge of all your **** weapon skills by 20%. ", it should affect your conjure weapons as well.
After all, an earth shield is much more of an ‘earth weapon’ than your staff actually is.

you mean like daggers? the melee option for elementalists we have right now, the one which I think has the highest burst potential of all our weapons, that people have been using since day 1 and doing perfectly well with.
I personally LOVE the skills, frost bow is good in the world and WvW for giving to melee classes that don’t have a ranged weapon with them. shield is good as a support ability, hammer is great for control with it’s jumps, stuns, knowkbacks and blinds, GS is great fun to use as well, we become what is pretty much a warrior on fire.
don’t forget, PvP isn’ the be all and end all, you also need to consider PvE and WvW as well, balancing around PvP instead of PvE was what WoW did, and it was poorer for it, classes that were underperforming in PvE but awesome in PvP were nerfed, and ones that were great in PvE but not so much in PvP were buffed, resulting in PvEers and PvPers HATING each other because of the encroachment on “their” side of the game
sadly, it’s happening to necros now, even with all of the bugs, ANet has pretty much said " we won’t give necros a buff for PvE, you just need to learn how to use death shroud better, it’s OP in PvP"
All they need to do is allow you to weapon swap back and forth between the conjured weapon and your actual weapon until the charges run out, and maybe do a balance pass over them to make sure they’re competitive and worthwhile to use compared to your normal skills.
