Conjures should work with weapon swap

What this would result in is elementalists always getting conjure weapon since they now get 5 extra skills from it. This wont happen since we already have 4 different elements with a total of 20 skills on them compared to the standard 2 weapon sets with a total of 10 skills.
IMO conjure weapons should be reimagined since it is useless as it is now unless you have a friend who picks up and uses the other one. But that also seems kinda lame to me, why would anyone want to switch out of the weapon sets they have chosen into a weapon that they probably have no experience with?
Its just a lame set of skills designed badly.
Gotta disagree with yah Battery and I basically have proof. Engineer is designed so that their “kits” function at essentially weapons, AND a bonus utility skill, AND you can switch to them whenever you want, with no cool down.
However, many engineers do not run with all kit skills in their utility slots. And why? Because you can only do so much in a period of time. Having a bomb kit, and a grenade kit, and a flamethrower kit may give you lots of options, but the reality is that you’re not going to be able to use them all, all of the time. So most engies just take one or maybe two kits, and have the rest of their skill slots occupied with other skills.
So if engineers don’t go for “skill maximization” all the time, I don’t see why Ele’s would either.

This would be awesome, but I don’t think it would happen, at least not without some serious changes to the conjure weapons. They’re currently built for full-power all-or-nothing use. If they allowed you to blast their abilities, then swap back to your normal spells, they’d probably have to reduce their effectiveness.
Still, even if they nerfed them to implement this change, I’d be FAR more likely to use one or two of them as a utility skill.

Yeah I agree, I would much rather a “decent” weapon that I can swap to on the fly, than a “good” weapon that I am locked into.
Fact of the matter is that the opportunity cost of losing ALL of your skills just to use a “good” weapon is way too high. Greatsword is the only one that is worth it, and that is an elite skill. And even with greatsword, it’s only good in a few scenarios, and you lose A LOT of utility and survivability to use it.

Listen, i dont know anything about engineers and whatnot but as im playing right now im using all my damaging skills as often as possible, if i could get 5 more skills and switch between them and my normal skillset at will i would. Instead of doing this you can just add another attunement.
Btw wouldnt that be a fancy eliteskill? For x seconds you can attune to the element of pure magic, arcane attunement and gain the option to use another 5 skills for the duration.
@Battery
Actually other classes have more than 10 skills. The warrior has 12. 10 standard skills and a bonus one for each weapon set. The necromancer has 14 if you don’t count the transformation bit itself, the guardian has 13 and so on with the other classes.
Besides, elementalists may have 20 skills but we have very few weapons. That limits the number of different skills we can use. A warrior has a bazillion weapons to choose from and achieves a lot of freedom as well, although it is limited to two weapon sets.

Honestly, I think conjures should be instant-cast like weapon swaps (and kits?), and have no charges nor duration. Let it be the fact that they have a high recharge and take you away out of your main 20 skills the main factor. Instant-cast be awesome to chain in a few combo fields → finishers, or to get instant utility.
