I was thinking a 0/0/20/20/30 build it will give me a little more armor with not that much dps loss and stability from the rock solid trait now thakittens been moved down to master.

This is what i’m running my utilities are signet of air (for passive + 30s stunbreaker), LF and MF. I’ve only tried it in WvW but i’ve been having good results.

Yeah, apparently a bug. I usually average around 5 boons at a time anyway (ignoring stability from rock solid) so going BP wouldnt give much of a damage increase, a couple of % extra from time to time. For me it’s a bit of a toss up, 1-2% extra damage or 22% stability uptime just from attunement swapping. The stability makes me laugh to myself more tbh.

I can see a problem if you’re only wanting 10 in earth. Taking 10 out of water to put into earth you lose damage but if instead you take 10 out of air for it you lose the added mobility without providing another source of stability so you may prefer to run AoE over SoA. SoA is the only way i can cope with the loss of zephyr’s boon tbh. Doesn’t help that i’m a charr and feel like im going really slow anyway.

Hopefully they fix it soon.

Ok well point is, cause I want to get to a point with this thread lol. What is the main role of D/D Eles now in WvWvW? Are we able to roam still, bunker down , or are the only thing we’re good for is harassing zergs for twenty seconds before we’re slaughtered like pigs? And whatever we’re good for, could you post a really good build for it? LIke with the gear and traits. I’m so lost on my Ele it’s not even funny.

I find staying D/D a fair bit works for me, but that’s because I play on ET, and if anything more than like 10 people happen to be in a group then that’s enough to be called a zerg on our server lol. So even in the course of standard wvw play, you’re likely to find small 3v3 or 5v5 types of fights where D/D can still be decent. But if it’s much more than that, well, that’s why I keep a staff in my bags.

Im running 0/0/30/10/30 D/D. Full knight armor with healing/vit/power offset. The build is a hybrid, though more towards tank, secondly power and third for healing. It builds around 4 signets and I have 2k tough, 1,6k power, 1,5 prec, 1,6k vit (about 19k hp) and 334 healing. I also have the talent that makes signets active after used. 10 in water provides extra healing and condition removal.

In WvW and PvE I find it quite strong and has enough flexibility to offer a viable group support (though it is more of a solo build). Even in big zergs you have enough defensives to remain at the front.
Very effectrive/forgiving vs thief if you are a newcomer.

The cons would be that D/D relies on having constant pressure/being able to use your skills while you attunement dance (especially for the self healing part). Put enough roots etc and you’ll slow the hulk into certain death. Though in many such situations I am in favor with the earth talent that provides earth shield on 50% hp for a quick get away, or arcane shield at 25%.

THe problem with such a build is that Signet of Resto is still bugged and doesn’t get it’s cooldown reduced by Signet Masters
And also the fact that D/D isn’t really built for a condition build because you can’t maintain more than 1 condition at a time

I dont use cd reduced on signets, theres no need for it as all my signets passives n actives counts after I have use them.

I’m gonna try out this as my D/D tPvP build, even tho Stone Splinter is only 5% damage, it is more reliable than the current Bountiful Power. Triple arcane is there for the lolz, I think I’ll probably shift to aWave+aShield+LF eventually like I do on my S/D build.
Or I could go with Renewing Stamina instead of Arcane Mastery, and play with Sigil of Hydromancy for insane Chill uptime, expecially if coupled with Water-GoEP (once it’s fixed)

So many choices, I love this patch.

I really tried a lot of different builds since the patch, mostly trying to use 20-30 points in earth for rock solid and written in stone, but signets are simply still too weak (besides air) without giving fire auras which is too high up the fire tree. Glyphs of course are still just as bad as before. I had modest success with a 0/10/30/0/30 build with resto signet and 3 arcane spells but overall the most success I’ve still had with… go figure… a 3 cantrip build…

Whatever build I try I simply can’t live long without 20% reduced air cooldown. Without that RTL is simply unplayable even when it hits.

I am really hesitant as to say why though lest it be target of the nerf bat our out of touch devs seem to be aiming at eles that past several months. I mean seriously, they are talking about nerfing fgs because of the mobility it adds …when we already lost most of it.

LOL. What kind of make-believe world are you living in? D/D has never been weaker. In fact, since launch (and before, since IIRC beta weekend 2) D/D has seen NOTHING BUT SEVERE NERFS in every single patch.

This is a complete lie.

D/D is the weapon that has been getting the most buffs out of all we have.

Since launch, the air skills became aoe, Cone of Cold healing was buffed, Ring of Earth started to offer cripple, Frost Aura’s chill duration was increased from 1s to 2s (and later started to offer 10% damage reduction), Magnetic Grasp sucked and was completely revamped into a sequence skill, Lightning Touch’s and Fire Grab’s functionality were improved (although they still miss often), Lightning Whip’s functionality has been improved (it now always hits) and Lightning Touch’s weakness has been improved. Meanwhile, Ride the Lightning’s cooldown was nerfed.

There was a time where elementalists only used s/d in pvp because the weapon skills of mh dagger were not worth it.

OP doesn t even understand that Dagger earth 3 was actually a mobility nerf…not to mention other stuff …

The best part is about S/D that differently from what he says was the best even at top of D/D effectiveness for PvP (see cantrip)

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

I played around with 20 earth you can get good damage with it if you have decent crit damage and crit chance just slot signet of air for passive. Stone splinters and with serrated stones for +10% damage if you get the bleed up (maybe try sigil of earth to keep bleeds up).

I went back to 30 water just because cleansing water is a good trait. The only trait I would put on par with cleansing water in earth is protection on aura if I have 10 points to move around. I run all stat trinkets so changing my build doesnt require alot of tweaking.

I might try 20 earth again today

Havent had the chance to test this exact set up. But from running around in wvw earlier with more of a bunker type build with ok results; i think switching to this setup will work quit nicely.

Running a mixture of pvt/zerker/knights gear with 2 sup water/2 maj wat/ 2 maj rage. Which will be getting changed out as soon as i figure out if i like this set up. Since you dont necessarily need the boon duration since your not going for that 25th in water. I would settle for divinity runes if i felt like paying 10g a piece for them, but ill look around. :P
