Hi

I recently started thinking about finally bringing my Elementalist to lvl 80 and gearing him up, and I’m playing with the thought of doing some WvW-roaming (and maybe some PvP too sometimes) with him. Thus, I’ve once again played around with a (D/D-) build. First I was thinking about going full celestial, but then I’ve found that might not be a good idea after all. I’ve checked out the build they have at metabattle and the stats they would get in total, and tried to take those as a general guideline. So, without further ado, this is what I came up with:

Build link

Now my question is; would that work? Or are there any improvements I should make?

The reason why you got no replay might be, because this is pretty much a meta build with the current holy trinity (Water, Arcana, Cantrips) and tailored to Might stacking. It is solid. Having a bit more tanky-ness in WvW with Knights and Soldier stats is perfectly fine.
For solo roaming (which means you fight more NPCs in camps than player foes) you could consider replacing the Doom Sigil with something else (like Fire or Torment).
I run the Torment one, because dollies “always move” and therefore take the Torment damage.

Well yeah, I know that it is the meta-build. However, I was making this thread cause of the stats, and less because of the traits. This because I lack the personal experience with solo-roaming with D/D-ele in WvW; thus I can only read up on things (which might be outdated, wrong, highly sitatuonal or impractical) or, what I did, ask players who have the experience I still lack with D/D-ele.

Hm yeah, fire might be an idea, although I think I’d really wish to have doom when I encounter a warrior with healing signet or similar.

I don’t see the usefulness of torment for dollies. Poison lasts longer, does more damage than a single stack of torment (even while moving) and reduces incoming healing on top of that. And if you hit the dolyak consistently to reapply torment every 5 seconds (assuming you crit and hit the 50%-chance all the time), an air-sigil would be a much better choice in terms of kill-speed.

I get my cele stats from trinkets/accessories using a mix of zerkers and soilders gear… but I usually only am zerg d/d ( Yes I hyper extend past our commander and ride the lightning directly into the enemy) not much experience with fighting less than blob size… I would assume it’s easier and that you could afford to use more zerkers gear. I’m with you on the doom sigil.. don’t replace it.

It’s hard to give input on stats because most of it really comes down to personal preference and playstyle. Yours will most likely work, I used to run a build with a wild mix of knight, valkyrie, cavalier, soldier and some cele parts that resulted in a pretty similiar stat distribution. That build has been more on the tanky side of things from my perspective, but it certainly did its job. Nowadays I’m running knight daggers, soldier armor (pack runes) & zerker trinkets, which from my experience is a little less forgiving but the significantly higher raw power rating makes it worth for me (others might think different).

Concerning the Doom sigil – at times I run it, at times not. Dunno really, in a non-food environment it’s great, but reduced condition duration food is HEAVILY abused in WvW. So once you start realising almost every other solo roamer who is good enough to actually stretch a fight long enough for Doom sigil to pay dividends is running -40% condi duration food anyways, you’ll probably start trying alternatives as well. I’m pretty fond of Air atm, but my pack rune setup’s high/perma fury uptime most likely makes much better use of it than strength/hoelbrak.

There is only one god, and his name is Death.
And there is only one thing we say to Death: ‘Not today’.

If you dont want to make Celestial armors, here is an alternative:

This Ele: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-hYOiAUiFw

I’ve dueled with serane, and he was tough as nails to kill. Even some of my acquaintances that consider themselves to be experts at killing D/D eles had an immense amount of trouble fighting him.

The stats look balanced, about 500 healing power, 1,6k toughness, 30+ crit chance, 180% crit damage and 16-17k hp unbuffed are what I’m usually looking for. But as I was taking a closer look, I noticed there are some weaknesses in your build. For example, you buy power and crit chance with your bufffood. However, since you’re not using ether renewal and go for soothing disruption in your traits, I would suggest you take reduced condition duration bufffood. Second, you don’t take zephyr’s boon which means you’ll often have only 33% crit chance. I think you’ll lack damage with a value this low.

I would sacrifice power in order to do some adjustements regarding critical damage output and condition management.
