You really cannot compare stats in wvw and pvp, they’re completely different. Also, pretty much any class can get similar stats, your point?

You could always get that on ele with the right gear setup and going into earth definitely you could get that much toughness.

On my d/d I have 2700 armor, 17.3k health, and 30% chance to crit prefury and 184% crit damage.

Meanwhile my thief has 232% crit damage.

I never really liked using full stacks in builds as a representation of the real build.

If the meta build looks like it’s going to be what phantaram was running earlier today on stream he even said it doesn’t do good damage. Watching him it looks like it’s ok respectable damage, but I didn’t see anything OP about it.

with all the damage flying around in pvp im running water earth arcana with stone heart and even then surviving against stealth burst can be lol..

the main damage atm comes from burning when you manage to get a 10 stack on the enemy..

the direct damage is not that great but it’s actually one of the builds that can support and still stay alive for a bit longer than other stuff.

i tried stuff like celestial s/d, s/f d/f with fresh air but it didn’t really work out well because dagger mainhand is just superior to scepter if you don’t run a full glass build and dagger with fresh air makes your rotation too long so you won’t have the stuff you need in time or it’s way harder to time your attunements and get them in at the right moment.

Scepter still works. I’ve been running manmode zerker s/f and I didn’t have many issues, but you really need to play carefully. The problem is that even with zerker the burst isn’t as crazy as mesmer’s for example. This obviously only works in soloq.

I haven’t tried fresh air d/d since the update, but that was one of my favorite builds pre-update. I think it will still be viable, but I haven’t worked out a build yet. It plays a little less fluid than cele d/d, but anytime someone makes some distance you zap them and then close the distance. It provides some excellent sustain damage in pvp. (used to) I’ll probably try and make a working fresh air d/d this week-end.

I’m just having so much fun playing cele staff. Its not super strong in 1v1, but is a beast in team fights. I always feel like I was in large part responsible for a successful team battle. CC, healing, rezing, stomps, you play a lot like the old cleric guard, but with more mobility and damage and less staying power.

the problem i encountered if you run without dagger or focus (meaning s/d) is that you are a lot more vulnerable to projectile damage even when running celestial and you can’t reduce the pressure of a shoutbow or a condi ranger.

dagger or focus kinda got mandatory.

I don’t agree. D/d is still plenty good. I think most people have been running Earth + Water + Arcana and were doing fine. I’ve been trying Air +Water + Arcana because I just have so much fun with the air line, it could be a bit worse but you’re definitely not going to melt down to a shoutbow or a condi ranger.

i never said d/d was bad, what i say is that if you don’t run either dagger or focus the pressure of ranged projectile damage can become too much and this was something i noticed while testing celestial s/d with air arcana water. so you either need to run d/d or s/f to negate the pressure.

s/d might work for burst builds that don’t try to hold nodes.

off hand dagger lacks quite a bit of defense compared to focus. I don’t think there is anything wrong with d/d’s current state. I do think burning in general could be toned down a little bit in pvp though.

I think D/D got nerfed quite a bit, i’ve played GW today after not playing a while and i got destroyed in 1v1 by a Staff ele , while running the old D/D cele meta.
