D/D & Staff Ele and Celestial Gear
Going full celestial is a poor choice, but mixing it into your equation will be good.
I currently run 30% of it in my gear setup.
I don’t play my ele as much as I’d like to, but I still log it daily. It makes it more viable than if it didn’t have celestial, but I will caution you that as a whole, ele isn’t super viable against certain builds.

Celestial gear is something that depends so much on your playstyle.
Many guilds just need eles to focus on support so celestial gear is a must. If you feel squishy you’ll need to mix it with some soldier or knights.
Celestial is a must if you’re support role focused and damage is not your objective.
Celestial does have less damage than other builds but not that much if you’re able to get bloodlust sigil stacks up + power food up everytime.

Care to elaborate?

Which is exactly why I don’t run Ele in tPvP. Or Mesmer. You can get away with just about anything in WvW, though, assuming you’re not solo roaming.
I actually specialize in WvW solo-duo roaming. So that’s all I build for.
I abuse celestial for its crit damage. It lets me keep 1650 toughness and still have 2300 power and 80% crit dmg with 60% crit chance.
Really effective. It just blows that you’re on an elementalist and that all means nothing against two condition spammers.
To elaborate on that point you asked about, I find if you don’t go full tank or full support, you need to have lots of damage to overcome the insane healing of some classes and to burst down glass builds before they get you.
So for what I specialize for, going full celestial is asking to die repeatedly lol.

Don’t kitten yourself. You should have individual builds and armor for each of your weapon sets.
I have two sets of daggers and armor that I use on a regular basis, about 4 other sets I use infrequently.

I agree with Mbelch on this one, going all celestial isnt a great choice for wvw (at least not in T1) as the toughness is too low – and the current meta is to gank the elementalist both in GvG and zerg v zerg.
I currently use two builds atm, the first is weak against condispam due to low hp, excellent against direct damage however (fun to lure and gank thieves/mesmers with)- 1.8k toughness is key here.
This other build utilities celestial armour albeit a little squishier than the one above. Keep in mind you’re better off with the ptc trinkets for the most part (just not the amulet as it gives a poor return).

I wouldn’t recommend celestial at all for any ele ( in wvw)
for staff :
U dont Need much healing power, because most of the heal that coms from ’’u’’ doesnt scale with ur healp power. (if u drop a water field and a warior does an explo in it for aoe heal, the heal scales with his healpower not with urs). Geysir doesnt scale well to say ist worth and regen is the same poor sacling and even less effective since there are so many nekros that just take away ur regen.
Better take some soldiers gear and some Knights trinkets .
D/D: celestial is a possible, but u have so Little thougness, power and hp that the win of dmg isnt worth( in my opinion) since a dead dd cant do dmg, the 2k more hp + the thougness form soliders gear and Knights trinket is enough to surevive most.
if u find grammatical Errors u can Keep them xD
I use celestial trinkets with knights/traveler in d/d. I like it. But full celestial is subpar at everything.
My build with celestial gear:

It’s not set in stone, and i might change it once ascended armor comes out. It has flaws, like low power, but is somewhat compensated with high crit dmg and some condition damage.
I’m pretty much on staff all the time, supporting the zerg. So i’ve been seriously thinking of increasing my defense. But right now this build seems to work alright. Depending on the changes to staff, i might go into a whole other direction.

Are you talking about armor only or trinkets and weapons included?
Celestial is not bad for roaming specialy if you have a partner.Elementalist is the only class that can make 100% use of this set.(maybe Engi too)
If you really wanna go Celestial armor i would advise not to drop below 2500-600 armor. You won’t be able to avoid fights with more opponents and armor and patience is critical in WvW.Elementalist will not burst down an opponent like a necro or a warrior..you chip away until they have no cds to keep em going.I suppose you know all that.So it would be best to keep your trinkets Knight/PVT with a celestial neck and your weapons PVT always be it staff or D/D.With guard buff and foods you should have enough attack power to be a threat.
Also what runes are you gonna chose?

I am planning on use celestial weapons/armor with cavalier trinkets.
Since switching to ascended celestial d/d from knight, i have noticed quite a damage boost, while the +healing is doing it job nicely keeping me alive.
Personally i hate going full zerker on any class, except maybe mesmer.
It also depends on your play-style and what you’re looking to achieve. Personally, I run a 0/25/0/15/30 D/D & Staff Ele with almost full Celestial except for a Cavalier rings and Valkyrie gloves & accessories. This is primarily for small-scale roaming in WvW. Yes, my armor is low, and I have to be very aware and proactive defensively, however, my spike damage is quite high due to might stacks and my high crit chance and damage. Generally, my lightning whip crits for 2-3k and burning speed and fire grabs each hit anywhere from 3-5k. Furthermore, while gimmicky, its pretty funny to watch a Meteor Storm/Whirlwind critting people for 6-8k per hit.
Obviously, against the current condition/perplexity meta you’re always going to be at a disadvantage, but I find I have a chance (albeit small) if I can cleanse the first barrage of conditions with water attunement and ether renewal followed by a strong initial attack.
The two are using different builds, jackums like it or not. You don’t need full damage while in staff, and you don’t need all the tank in D/D.
That’s why I offered you my mix. I have tried every armor set.

20 in Earth for Stability causing interrupters to waste important attacks on stability cause bads don’t pay attention to when you have stability anyway. Or just open with armor of earth both work.
There are some really clueless people out in WvW. I hop on my necro put all my marks on top of me and idiots still run right into them after watching me put them down.

They do that with Meteor Shower and Ice Spike too. It may be hard to hit moving targets in theory, but in practice it’s relatively easy. ;-)

Yea or put down a ring of fire and someone walks in like “Ok I’ll eat this 5 seconds of burning and then proc it again for fun 10 seconds of burning.” Just don’t hit me with fire grab I would rather eat 5k damage over 10 seconds than all at once.
