Hey, just hit level 80 and it’s time to get some nice gear. I want to do damage, so 40% crit chance and over 50% crit damage. I have theorycrafted this build

Looks good, I use exactly the same traits with the only difference that I have 25 in air and 15 in water.

Which utility spells are you using?

Level 60 pvp
Ele & thief main (full ascended)
Down with the braindead faceroll classes.

Electric discharge isn’t worth giving up a GM water trait. Water 11 and 12 are two of the most powerful traits for any class in the game; especially in WvW.

Power is almost always better than precision/crit damage. I would use ruby orbs for your armor instead of ranger if you don’t want to use divinity or boon duration.

For DPS efficiency, it’s best to keep Crit chance and Crit damage bonus reasonably close together, with a slight edge to crit damage once you’re over 50% in each (including fury). For every 5% crit chance over 50% take 6% crit damage.

Helm is a very inefficient source of crit damage (16:1). Use Soldier/Knight instead.

Build #1 – 2928 effective power – 17,960 effective HP – 250 healing – 11.2% damage mitigation
Alternative – 2,824 effective power – 17,719 effective HP – 350 healing – 18.36% damage mitigation

About the same average damage and buffer tank, but with better sustain and condition removal.

These can help you reach your Crit Damage goal without spending too many resources on zerk gear/air traits: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Plate_of_Truffle_Steak_Dinner. Be warned these are worth like 6s each, I cook mine.

I use Arcane Shield instead of Lightning Flash for PvE/Dungons, helps me finish combos without getting my kitten handed to me or interrupted.

arcane blast… do you mean arcane wave maybe?

They do. Either grab bloodlust or force. But if you want to run dungeons bloodlust is often not worth it (everyone skips everything) maybe except in Arah where you can farm those stacks at the beginning. Though I would suggest getting both of them and once you farm bloodlust stacks you swap for dagger with a force. For wvw, bloodlust stacks can be farmed on mobs so it’s good enough.

Have in mind that force is straight up +5%dmg modifer while fully stacked bloodlust with 2000 power is +12.5%dmg.

Initially I am using Bloodlust, however in dungeons you can’t stack 25 since skipping is a common practice.

I am using Sigil of Blood instead, close 500 hp per heal. With fury, I normally have 60+% crit chance so it’s roughly 1 out of every 6 hit I get a heal.

For Bloodlust to be effective in WvW, you also need to find a spot to kill 25 trash mobs to up the stack and would be gone if you are down. The heal from Blood will be helpful since our HP hovers around 14 to 15k.

You don’t need to kill 25 trash mobs to “up the stack”. Play with it normally and simply swap when you’re at 25 stacks. If you’re in a group, you get the 25 stacks in 1-2 engagements.

Everyone should use it, it’s insanely good.

I used Bloodlust previously. Dungeon to be honest is pretty useless as you skip mostly. WvW wise I prefer that little heal over more power due to the fact I am quite glassy. Knight with Berserkers and Beryl jewels. No boon duration runes for me.
