Hi guys

My friend is a casual gw2 player who is almost lvl80. He’s not a hardcore player but wants to wvw so he decided to use the http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Elementalist_-_D/D_Roamer build.

However for his armor we decided to go the fastest way and farm dungeon armor. But there’s no dungeon armor with celestial stats, so what is the best we can replace it with?

Mix of zerker and knight with 1 or 2 ptv/ cleric to up your vitality enough. I’m playing with 15k health unbuffed and it’s far enough for small scale roaming.

You can craft exotic celestial armour but you need 400 tailoring and 30 days.

If your friend plays PVT armour with for example Pack runes counts as a good choice imho. Ascended Celestial accessories are easier to get than ascended armour pieces. Exotic PVT armour you can get from Arah WP karma vendor. Exotic acc’s are sort of cheap on AH. I mean berserker, knight or assassin and they are craftable. Crafted celestial armour is account bound.

PVT armour + berserker acc’s= good staff DPS support.
PVT + knights: acceptable roamer
PVT + celestial: good roamer
PVT + PVT: very hard to kill tank let it be staff or D/D

tl;dr: I would go with full PVT armour as a beginner and get Guild Recommendations/Laurels/Gold/Glob to buy Ascended Celestial accessories. The upside: these items are usable on every char unlike cloth celestial armour.

I’ve been looking to try WvW with the D/D ele roamer build myself, but can’t be bothered to lvl my crafting just for the armor set. So, I’ve been findling around in gw2skills’ builder a bit and think I’ve gotten about as close as possible in stats without needing any celestial armor. You will, however, require a celestial amulet and two rings to balance it out.

we decided to go pvt but what runes should we bring with that?

Destrice: Do you want cheap runes or the best-of-all? The best is Strength. Hoelbrack, Melandru or Traveller… good for WvW.. Speed is a good replacement for Traveller. Pack is a great overall choice… 2nd tier but still good. Centaur can be good too… It is a TESCO versions but still useful… and it’s dead cheap.

Well he doesn’t have a lot of funding so the choice is between pack or centaur. Centaur is practically free but the 125 precision of the pack could be really handy. I’ll suggest he runs with centaurs until he has money to afford packs!

Privateer is a good cheap option. Ogre and flame legion work too.

Going full celestial was never a good option for WvW dagger ele in my opinion. Basically you need a certain amount of raw power be4 you shouldn’t even consider picking crit damage and crit chance, which is around ~2000 raw power. The only reason to do different would be because of the fact that you want to grab extra lifesteal(food) and vigor.

this should work fine aswell, however it would be better with some celestial pieces. Basically celestial offers more stats then normal armor and you should try to use them w/o losing the sweet spots on your stats. basically i’d say you should try to get
2k+ power
2.6k+toughness
15k+hp
30% crit chance
175%+ crit damage (absolute minimum i’d say)
500 Healing

so just do some theorycrafting yourself, check the armors @ the merchants and pick w/e combination suits you well <3

Not bad, but still a little low on toughness. Add some cleric’s/knight’s instead of zerk.

By using the cheap lv60 sharpening stones and some cheap food you can get your stats up to excellent levels, don’t forget that.

He have enough Karma for the NPC armor in Orr? I find that stuff to be a good place holder with lots of options there is even a set with Melandru’s t the Melandru temple. Karma is easy enough to earn with EoTM ( which if he’s into WvW would give him a little PvP fix) and event chain farming in Orr. I don’t quite understand what you mean by “not willing to farm” this game sort of forcefeeds you riches if you stick in one area long enough… it’s impossible not to open up chests with Exotics/Rares and get T6 bag drops. Also there isn’t really farming in this game or rather you farm the gold rather than the actual item… it’s much faster that way.
