I for one switched to 0-20-0-20-30 (I used to run 0-15-10-15-30) took the reduced CD on air skills started using FGS bunkered up and trolled to my hearts content in Wv3 lol. How about your guys?

I’m going to get rings that boost vitality, healing and toughness to compensate for mist-form unreliability and will have to take a 5-10% damage output reduction.

I re-installed Battlefield: BC2.

Not much changed, I’m just tweaking my full Berserker gear to get some more defense, making my already, even in full zerker, DPS even lower, to the point of being a joke.

retraited full dps, no more roaming, no more front lines, W3 is going to be kinda boring

Still running dungeons and daily’s and wondering why RTL/Mistform had to get shafted due to stupid PvP play.

As D/D Cantrip classic:
sPvP is roughly the same just lower mobility. I found myself using Cleansing Wave instead of Cantrip mastery and its actually even better.
WvW is annoying due to longer travels. Fights are the same.

All in all its the same. The only thing that took a heavy hit are squishy builds relaying on Mist Form to cast glyphs. Again, unintended victims of badly designed changes.

I hope they learned that they’re mortals now just like everyone else and learn to adapt.

Well being honest not enough has changed to cause this. Bad players could never deal with DD ele. I dropped a few people today on my DD ele in wvw, got bored, switched over to my warrior, and started dropping folks left and right. I admittedly trolled a DD ele by out running him and then teased him into a zerg and stomped. The point is baddies will always be bad.

BTW you can still face tank 5 bad players. You could never face tank 5 good players lol.

You can always use FGS for added mobility.

In tPvP, where most of the ele complaints originated, I use the exact same generic bunker build and did the exact same things pre-patch. I still use mist form to safe stomp, cleansing wave icd still np against most condition builds, and Rtl still gets me out of fights, even if it’s put on a 40 sec cd. The build just feels clunkier, and tPvP players are still bad. In 5 tournaments before getting utterly bored, the only time I died was when only mist form was off cd, and I couldn’t heal through its duration with stacks of bleeds from a necro. Oh well, I guess I’ll cry in the corner because of these appropriate “nerfs”.

However, roaming in wvw isn’t worth it on eles anymore – I just hop on my thief or warrior to save time running between objectives.

I’ve kept my ele @ the bank in LA as a bank toon. I wish Anet would just come right out and just tell people, “We made a mistake putting the ele in the game. Just delete them and roll a warrior.”

Playing Neverwinter

Didnt change a kitten thing and still love my Ele. I am not one to run away often so the RTL change has not had a big impact on me I am just being more concentrated on when I use it. Mist form got me out of certain death several times last night just as it did previously just need to be more timely with it and be ready to pop stuff when it drops. I read these boards before logging on after the patch and was concerned with all the QQing about the Ele being destroyed and unplayable. Maybe its my spec but I definitely do not find this to be the case and still love playing mine.

Even though I do see what they tried to achieve with the nerf, I think it’s was a bit too harsh and hurt the squishy builds much more than bunkers…. GG arenanet for making my ele feel extremely clunky at times.

I haven’t even bothered logging in since the patch notes. The one thing that absolutely destroys an MMO for me is heavy-handed nerfing. Guess the new team running this game isn’t quite done ruining what the other team built up.

Actually been having some fun with DCUO. Then we’ll see, maybe Wildstar or Elder Scrolls. Probably done with GW2, as I have no desire to even log in.

Playing S/D thief and other games.

Boon stealing, Condi removal, high damage, high survivability (stealth, shadowstep), insane mobility, lots of cc.

I liked the play style of my ele better, but the recent nerfs were unnecessary and the buffs/changes still don’t pave a path for a variety of builds (it actually nerfs non-bunker builds). By the changes made every patch I’m fairly certain that internal testing is lacking for the Elementalist class, and the devs are simply listening to QQ posts made by newer players that didn’t know how to counter Eles.

Bunch of things actually. Firstly, my bunker build is not hit by the changes AT ALL, because I am not using 30 in water anyway. The one that was hit the hardest was my nuke D/D build, firstly, because when my opponent dodges RtL, I’m not able to engage properly for 40 seconds. Secondly, I can’t heal in mist form, that means I must give up the stomp/healing a downed ally by changing to Lightning Flash or I must give up healing myself at all. So I tried a 30/20/0/0/20 staff elementalist. I found the damage output quite satisfying, got down 4 people at once at a time or two, but when someone was on me, it did not matter if I’m resisting or not. Even a “heartseaker” thief has able chase up to me and kill me (not mentioning a guardian with teleport). The only times I was able to escape when someone was on me, it was when I prevented them from reaching me by slowing/stunning and running away -.- Maybe it’s about time AN question themselves why nobody plays a focus in both PvE and PvP, ‘cus let’s be honest, staff was never meant for sPvP.

My time spent playing with the TP has increased from 90% to 99%

I haven’t changed a thing, can barely even notice a change tbh.. I have been playing Baldur’s Gate 2 a lot more lately though

What am I doing? Still winning most fights because most players are garbage and I am not. Running away is irrelevant because I simply win. Mist form nerf? Please, I’ve been using that to spike and revive more than to save myself for months. Also, I complain a lot on my guild’s vent because I get a 40 second cooldown quite frequently when I am trying to attack an enemy.

Case and point. Any solo player that kills 3 enemies in a group of 5 is still a god compared to the people he was fighting regardless of him dying or not. If that ele is now mortal, his victims are insects.

Seems that way. Warrior is not a warrior if its not a wall that can kill one.

Doing thesis work. I’m thankful such a big dump was taken on my 2 favorite classes. I was slightly addicted and this hampered my work. Now I can finally turn on my pc with no urge to play.

I play LoL again and check the forum/guild chat from time to time.

The desire to login and actually play is beginning to be a fleetingly rare event. I never wanted to play Warrior-Thief Online, I thought I was playing Guild Wars 2. The push against Eles now is strikingly similar to the marginalization of the GW1 Ele to an ER boon prot heal/support as the only viable build.

For a class type that stereotypically in most forms of media is the “nuke from range” character, ANet’s design decisions make little, if any sense. The idea of an Ele as a “jack of all trades” would be nice if it was the case, but its not.

Its times like these that make me wish game companies would stop making MMOs, because it seems that even the fun ones tend to poop all over themselves after a while by listening to a very small vocal minority because they scream the loudest. I mean, the whole point was to nerf the S/D bunker in PvP, and yet these nerfs were applied globally and actually make Ele players in ALL game modes bunker further to compensate for the lack of mobility and survivability.

I just don’t get it.

Really loving my engineer, though I should log into my ele, I often use a glyph/signet and technically this build is a bit of buff to me.

Been using d/f for a while just to get used to the style and it’s nice for tanking dungeons :p

Since they nerfed eles the wrong way and pretty much screwed all other niche ele builds…it’s been the same for me since I use bunker ele anyway, it just has lower mobility and I would imagine people would now run earth armor to replace mist form. People are cheering for this nerf to eles but I’ll give it a few weeks before we get a flood of qq from bad players, I guarantee it.

I dont know, I stopped playing the game just now because the ele class [as I perceive it] is broken and I got killed too many times in stupid conditions (like under the new “improved carts”) even with a new toughness build (over 1600 toughness and a mesmer takes over half my health in 1 hit). I’m a strick WvW player, and this is no more fun.

Maybe I’ll give it another go in a week, or two.
Until then: bye everyone, I gave this update a fair 6-7 hours try. But I needed a break to do some work and this nerf over justify it.

Started playing Aion and Tera again. Just occasionally check on the forums now hoping there will be a post saying they un-nerfed us. until then I see no point in even logging in. I may come back to GW2 next month if the next patch seems promising. Until then Anet is getting no more of my money. Maybe i’ll buy a maid outfit for my Elin instead of more gems for my now retired ele.

Playing my mesmer and ranger. arenanet knows how to destroy the motivation to play a class (rtl nerf). I’m fine with mist form and the other nerfs, but the rtl nerf just feels undeserved, stupid and bad. During one month our main mobility spell went from a 15sec CD to 40. Thats just ridiculious.

Went back , in traits, from 10/10/0/30/20 to 0/10/0/30/30 , switched to signet of restoration but retained my hybrid gear set but with bunker build traits.

i m playing borderlands 2 and using mesmer for dailies.

Post patch? Watching the bad eles leave to find something else easymode, while I continue to prosper with mine. Great patch Anet.

Same trait and utilities 0/10/0/30/30 with Ether Renewal, Lightning Flash, Cleansing Flame, Mist Form along with Fire GS. Just Zerg slightly more for easy wxp and loot bags.

Exactly the same D/D 20/0/0/25/15 build I played before the nerf, just more often switching to signit of air when roaming out of combat.

Learning ranger. Always been the hardest to beat since release while they keep getting stronger and my ele keeps getting weaker.

Double cd on RTL, okey. But it wasn’t you only gap closener, and it was from weapon and not utility. And the cd is decreased by 50% if you hit an enemy, I.E if you use it as gap closener.

Mist form was a very strong spell and still is. Engineer got the same change, maybe warriors also should get it.
Passive cleanse got 5sec cd, I don’t know if that’s a big deal. (Edit: I noticed this was for spvp only, so I guess it didn’t change in wvw.)

But that’s basically it, or did I miss something?

Sorry bad joke. I only recently got my Ele to 80 after quitting the game for some time. Back when I created her, nobody played the class. I’m disappointed to see where it’s gone since those days. /sigh. Oh well.

Simply the reason is that RTL is extremely buggy and the amount of times you proc 20s is slim. So for the most part RTL for most situations is on a 40s CD.

Another thing is that this was an overnerf because they “bug” fix RTL’s range from 1550 to 1200. At the same time they increase the CD by 100%. And the kicker is that it is extremely bugged where the secondary effect to proc 20s occurs rarely. On paper it is like if you hit something it procs. But the reality is that this is not the case. An example would be RTL to something but it bugs out where it gets really really close to the target but it doesn’t hit it and goes on a 40s CD. Or the skill traces the target at close range but doesn’t “hit” and goes on 40s CD. I have all of these occur to me on day 1 of post RTL nerf patch.

30 water trait nerf is just silly in my opinion. Nobody really burnt all their cantrips to just cure 1 condition each. Cleansing flame is the only one that removes the most condition. Post patch: Cleansing + water attune equals 5 removed conditions versus 6 pre patch due to CD of regen. Now I’m sure most people wouldn’t use say Lightning flash for the sole purpose of removing a condition. Same goes with mist form or armor of earth. Mist form + Ether Renewal was really really strong though.
