Kuduka Dark- Necromancer
I have been trying to do more dungeon runs here lately. I have been equipping the armor I get from the pavilion. Most of my armor has power/precision stats. I have been dying a lot in my runs. I’m only in the 40s so the only dungeons I run are Ascalonian Catacombs and Caudecus Manor. What should I do different in my staff ele to not go down as much?
You can get some toughness or vitality so you are more durable. Offhand focus has a projectile block, a reflect+condi removal and an invulnerability skill so it might be worth it to switch weapons. Arcane shield is a good stunbreaker and blocks 3 attacks.
If you die to conditions get some condition removal (ether renewal, staff water attunement 5, cleansing fire)
If you mostly die to bosses learn their mechanics and dodge their dangerous attacks, most of the time these have long visible windups.
If you die to trash mobs try blinding them if you stack. Both ligthing hammer and glyph of storms in earth attunement are quite good for this.
edit: toughness not precision

1. Get a team that knows how to protect its ele i.e. guard with wor/mes feedback*wardens
2. Kill them before they kill you
3. use your own defenses
Positioning will save you more than anything
Line of sight when needed
All of CM-
Focus – Air 4 Earth 4 , 5
Staff Earth 3
Utils- Arcane Shield Glyph of storms earth attune.
Or preferred
Up your damage and kill them before they kill you. if you fill your utilities full of defense and end up not killing them then all that you did is take longer to die.
So try adding toughness and vitality, or have even more power and kill them before they can kill me? Thanks! I’ll try both and see what works better for me.
Another option you can try is bringing defensive utilities/damage mitigation skills, which is what I do. I bring Glyph of Storms (Blind spam in Earth attunement) and Radiation Field (perma-Weakness) and they help a lot with cutting down enemy damage to manageable levels. They also work quite well with keeping the party alive in stacks.
Try all three strategies and see which you find the most fun/effective.
Also, take a look at traits that give you protection. Earth has two in adept: Earth’s Embrace and Elemental shielding.
When you get master traits there are more. In Arcana there’s Elemental Atunement, which gives you and allies Protection for 6s every time you switch to Earth, which is nice.
