I hate what is gonna happen with all the celestial sustain annoyance eles who will have no clue how to do their job which is mostly support with this build ..oh the glory days of far push ele are gonna be back

Let’s just hope that, should D/D turn out to be OP, they get the nerfs right instead of driving all Eles into the ground again.

I’d like to point out that it was not only great build, but also…back..mostly amazing TCG Ele’s play.
Nice usage of Evasive Arcana for stomping (that synergy!), good sustain and amazing damage.

problem is what u wanna shave? signet? cantrips? amu? that build is op… it just isnt clear yet so few days after patch. but believe me. every ppl with a sense of balance playing that build know that it is op.

to find the right spot to shave only that build u need to find a spot that is related to the circumstance and not used in other builds that are fine. but whats exactly the problem? the sum of stuff like on hambow?

We know what it is. It was unviable pre-patch.

The major things that changed were the Signet, Celestial Amulet, and Double Sigils.

Signet helped give the Ele back its sustain it once had. People were pretty shocked to see Eles able to run away with 2000ish HP after the patch dropped, mainly because they hadn’t seen that sort of thing for a year. But those who can remember what life was like before the Signet got nerfed will remember how maddeningly sustainable the Ele could be if it chose to kite enemies to the max. Un-nerfing Signet of Restoration was major. I also think it was a good change – it’s easily the most important skill for several Ele playstyles. A class’ viability often hinges on how good their #6 skill is.

Celestial Amulet getting buffed gave the Ele what it’s always wanted – lots of stats. Before, Eles always ran weird sort of combinations like Valk’s Ammy with Zerker Jewel. Or maybe even a Barbarian jewel. The Ele has always struggled to maintain decent stats in PvP. Now, with the sheer stat inflation of Celestial Ammy, those weaknesses are mitigated substantially. Because low stats were a way to balance out the Elementalist’s power, it also follows that the stronger stats get, the stronger the Elementalist becomes.

Finally, double sigils really boosted the Ele’s playstyle, along with new sigils in general. Generosity Sigil is a great counter to condi specs and the common Energy+Battle sigil combo give an Ele tons of might and dodges. Little changes like this significantly altered the overall power level of the Elementalist to new heights – only the Engi and Warrior got it better. While the Ele does get less sigil slots, the fact that it’s simply easier for the Ele to proc swap sigils than for other classes makes it much stronger.

Runes of Strength also had an impact, but to be honest, I think the changes above combined with the old Strength Runes would have had a pretty similar effect. Eles have always made good use of Strength Runes (once they ACTUALLY WORKED), but they weren’t viable before so it hardly mattered.

I agree, however, that it’s a big problem. The change to Signet was a good one, as its very existence is necessary to the viability of some Ele builds (especially D/D). Celestial Amulet arguably needed the change it got, but at the same time, there’s a good argument to be made that Celestial in general shouldn’t exist. I feel the change to Sigils no longer sharing cooldowns shouldn’t have happened, but it’s too late to undo such a big change now. Also, even though D/D 30 Water 30 Arcana is an annoying build, it’s at least one provably viable build for the Ele at high level play. It would be an incredible shame to take it away after Eles just finally managed to find a place in the meta.

Honestly the points in earth for 5 are an overkill i think, but then again he might wanted to play it safe or had a specific purpose for it.. or was just for team support since it carries over to teammates from combo finishers and he has them with water elem and its frost fields.
The build is kittened indeed. I cant play d/d for kitten at the level of s/d or s/f and im killing 3 people at hot join like the old days. It has 750 healing kitten and the sustain damage with the burn (i prefer qoep) ,might stacking and more crit than what you get with valkyries makes you wear down all except bunkers
Not to mention that you can achieve 2 casts per sec rate to proc the signet if you auto in air and cancel the last part of animation.Which makes it even more kittened when you run away and then come back 10 sec later with full health without even going into water just from regen, soothing mist and signet heal ..Lol

Too many kittens..i didnt know they cencor so much :/

so its more a sum of changes. but the question is the same. where shave without cutting other builds?

2 weeks already and we are looking to shave celestial D/D ele? People are never happy and if something is good it’s bad has to be looked at. They say alot of pvp players (in any game with pvp) always think something is wrong and enjoy trying to balance it.

Nothing needs to be shaved on the D/D celestial ele. It will still fold to condition pressure but the hit to dhuumfire means less necros’ . When necro’s figure out what they are doing whats best to run then you will see D/D celestial Ele’s differently.

The D/D celestial ele might seem strong if nobody is bringing anything to counter it specifically and everyone is mostly running the same comps anyway. You need the “new meta” to settle then people will bring the counter or work on the counter. I would hold off on D/D celestial Ele’s are OP until the NA ToL. Even still the sample size is to small probably.

You have to give players a little credit this didn’t sneak up on anyone because people tested it quickly.

If you been playing ele long enough you know Rune of Strength was always a good rune for Ele it’s even in Zelyhn’s PvE thread stickied up top when I told him that the 6/6 didn’t work. It was a rune set he wanted to run but didn’t because the 6/6 was bugged.

I did some testing that the rune was fixed, posted it on this very forum and including reddit causing the price to jump to 2g pre-patch, the dps was backed with testing from DnT that it is comparable damage to ruby orbs but not better then Rune of the Ogre (pre-patch). This was many months ago. This didn’t sneak up on anyone and neither did that rune.

You hear the words Celestial the first 3 classes you think about are Engineer, Guardian, and Elementalist if you been playing long enough.

Anyway more to the point is that boon heavy ele’s relying on damage will get countered by boon strippers many 30 trick S/D thieves and necros will make celestial ele’s lives rough when they find their way. Necro’s start running focus, 4 in spite, WoC and or/ minions boon stripping, maybe bring sigil of nullification then get back to me on celestial eles and their might stacking.

Sometimes the perceived power of something (especially 2 weeks after a big patch) is an illusion if the counter is there but no one bothered to look yet. 2 weeks after patch nobody is looking for celestial ele counters because it isn’t important. The first thing people do is see if their OLD safe, I been playing this for 2 years build still works then they try new stuff.

More necros’ and shatter mesmers will probably be the counter IF celestial ele is indeed a stable in the meta. If TCG didn’t win with a Celestial Ele I don’t know if people would even think anything about Ele at all. Less necro’s means more ele’s since necros’ and guardians counter each other Ele gets caught in the cross fire the cleansing water change+nerf to dhumfire means you will see more Ele’s less necro’s and more engis doing condi pressure instead of necros.

It was the second lowest represented class in the tournament just above mesmer.
