Discussion on PVE rotations for all weapons
Well hello there!
First off thanks for taking the time to open a thread about PvE Elementalists. It’s a nice change from PvP and WvW threads I see out there (primarily since I’m more interested in PvE)
Next up I am still leveling. Yes I am a new GW player, my elementalist is still 54 and I have no idea what happens at end game.
However I have experimented a bit with a couple of weapon choices and I thought I could maybe chip in.
S/D: 2(fire), 3(fire), 4(fire), 5(fire) and in theory any single target at your level will be toast. Another alternative I like with S/D is 2(earth)[the floating stones], 1(earth), 2(earth), 3(earth)[if the enemy is ranged], 4(earth), 5(earth) and then maybe a couple of another 1s.
As you can see I am a huge fan of single elements, but in case you go against champions/veterans a mix of earth and fire (starting with earth to stack the bleeds) is quite nice.
The other weapon I’ve tried is the staff and with my limited trait options it goes like this: 2(earth), 5(earth), 4(earth), swap to fire, 3(fire), 2(fire)[a bit closer to you since the mob in most cases will already be on his way to you] and then 1s.
Now I am trying D/D while leveling which is fun but I cannot post a respectable rotation since I’m just mashing buttons
As for kiting, the most I’ve done was with staff (air5,water4, earth4 plus Earth elemental if you happen across a tight corner)
Again from my limited experience a good combo with another profession is Ele/Guardian (yes my boy, everyone likes the guardian) and ele/necro which works quite well in the dungeon (yes it’s only one) that I tried last night.

hey! good thread. Here’s what i have to add:
D/D – my normal roto is similar to yours’. However, my goal with this roto is to stack might while doing dmg.
air 3, 4, 5, > fire 3, 4, > earth 3,4,5 (throw in cleansing fire, armor or earth, and arcane wave…7 stacks from both cantrips via traits and blast finisher)> water 4,3,2 > back to fire 5,2,3,4
I like to wait until my second time going fire to use 5 and 2, because i cant squeeze them in initially without loosing my fire fields, and because in 2nd time around i have more might buffs.
and no, i dont know how to prevent the earth 3 bug. I just mash earth 4 until i get satisfaction
staff swiftness roto: (cast on self) Earth 2 > air 5, arcane wave, 4. I get swiftness from switching to air via traits, as well as swiftness from using my heal via traits. Altogether, its about 55 secs of swiftness.
