Q:
Does any class counter Elementalists 1v1?
In either tPvP or WvW 1v1 without a control point. I always felt Elementalists are obscenely strong due to their boons, healing, mobility, cc, and small trade-offs for damage. They also wipe whatever conditions you place on them and it seems you can only fight them to a stalement using a bunker build. Do elementalists actually fear any class besides a backstab thief that kills them while they’re reading the forums?
Backstab Thief=free kill for D/D eles.
I fear 1 class and only 1;the class with lots of immobilizes, and a player that knows how to use it.
New Ranger buffs = almost constant immobilize / range = anti D/D Ele.
I fought a few Mesmers after the patch they can’t kill me but I can’t kill them . Endless clones and insta stealth and fast movement. New rangers build where they use super hard hitting pet is also very tough to beat.

No, we do not have a counter at the moment in WvW.
For tPvP, the control point is our counter.
This again
A good shatter Mesmer can counter you. Rifle/Hammer warrior using the http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Leg_Specialist trait can do it. Ranger with a decent build can do it. Necromancer with a decent mark build can do it.
Most players players play like this try to frontend burst conditions and face the (OHH no the ele wiped them) problem. Best way to do it put enough up to get him to waist his cantrips and water then put up your burst. There is no way to counter this except running.
The other thing is countering the damage train. Ele has a hugely telegraphed chain and is rather easy to counter.
In WvW there is no counter us, thieves, and mesmers can get out of almost all hairy situations. That is just the nature of the game. Some warriors can do this but they are rare.
