(Make Powerful Aura baseline for starters.) :O

At least for me, with the new specialization patch, all professions became more exciting and I become eager to play around with builds. But the ele has not done back to it’s roots at all…

I felt that they were going back to the roots of GW1 and with the ele, it fell flat.

I am mainly speaking about them COMPLETELY buffing fire and no other attunements. Water needs some love, it needs versatility besides the healing traits. Water used to be about slowing/blinding/knock down. <3

-Geyser (a deadly spout of water) should blind and deal damage. ^_^
-Frozen Ground should DoT for a small amount OR a chance to knock down ^.^Y
-Water Trident should knock down again. (enough of this healing nonsense) >.<
-Cone of Cold should ALSO be healing yourself while it’s being cast , _ ,

Air should be about spike damage. Just please go back to the roots. I love this game and I miss playing ele.

Honestly, Ele is still the most fun class in the game for me, no matter what they do to it. I could never feel “meh” about it.

I’d love to see more blinding in our class, sure, but honestly, people QQ about us enough as is.

I really liked the ele. When I first started the game – back in the headstart just before launch – I was a main ranger, and for a good while stayed a ranger and tried a few classes.

I tried the ele a bit during the headstart but parked it until the beginning of this year and boy oh boy the class was very fun to play with. Loved dancing around the elements, visuals of the skills and, most of all, the ability to run hybrid builds consistently – I am always partial to a jack of all trades master of none style.

So the elementalist is still great for me, the biggest problem with the new patch is, in my opinion, that it didn’t change much.

Elementalists are still running cantrips, are still running X / Water / Arcane and there is no expectation that this will change until another significant patch.

So while other classes had big changes that are making people dance around between various trait combinations, elementalists are still in their little corner playing with cantrips and Water and Arcane.

This patch was an opportunity to make big changes to the elementalist, but none were made. This is probably why you feel “meh” about the class, because the others are now shiny and new.

I feel like this is probably my main point. Yes, traits got condensed…

But I feel like they rushed over the ele (as per usual). Only fire skills got touched and the made ONE trait baseline?

The ele needs some real love and focus…

Maybe this means ANet thinks Eles are in a good place. Our talents are essentially merging and swapping around our old traits with the addition of a couple new ones.

To me, less change now implies that they are expecting our Elite to make big waves on our class.

Big waves.

I’m on fire with your joke Koviko

Azel said everything very well (even tho i’m not always running cantrip ^^)

Tempest seems made careful not to make ele better in any way, since that would be bad

It does the job well :-)

I just wish they updated Ele Elites like they did with the Guardians. And I would be one hell of a lucky Ele

There is still a lot of work to be done with the elementalist: Elites suck, Glyphs are mostly meh, signets are mostly meh, conjures are mostly meh. and some weapon skills need some work (scepter water 2, etc). But these problems have persisted from before the changes. I actually think the ele feels more intuitive since the update, and generally more fun.

I saw what they had proposed before.

I am 1000% happier with what we got currently than what they had previously planned.

Could they do more? Sure. Could and does every other class in the game argue the same? Definitely.

ele is the jack of all trades. We can adapt to anny meta. They did not damage ele. We were kept sable as befor. So also most of the skills were just not adressed and stayed weak, this reduces build options, but we have enough good things.
I personaly am not happy about the burning got so powerful. And i hate the 5s ICD on burnign precision. Bleeding is a bit poor and our elite as usual … FSG for speed ….

The patch made a tanky D/F celestial earth/water/arcana ele very strong, but I personally found the playstyle kind of boring to play.

The ele burst builds (which I personally find more fun to play) took a relative nerf compared to all the buffs that other burst builds received.

I feel like elementalist is stronger than its ever been since 2013’s dark days of the ele.

Being able to take fire ontop of water/arcane with celestial D/F lets you sit at 20+ mightstacks for the most of the fight while being quite tanky enough to hold a point, dealing lots of damage and burning, and healing yourself and allies. Its very strong, but we’ll have to see if the top players will want it in the meta now.

Yeah I feel it too. “Meh” describes it best. While now we can at least choose a few different trait lines we didn’t really get any new “WOW” playstyle-changing traits like for example Mesmers or some other classes got.

Every weapon playstyle still feels like they always did, a bit more healing from water, a bit more damage from fire, or a bit more defense from earth doesn’t really change that.

I think the biggest problem is that we are still basically forced into cantrips for PVP/WVW which then of course makes water almost mandatory for the CD reduction alone.

I was having quite some fun before the patch with a full signet d/f condi build but without aura on use (and therefore protection) signets are just too much of a liability compared to cantrips. While I can understand why they took the aura on signet use away (with the new fire minor trait we have a LOT of fire aura uptime) I think they should have done something else then with signets. Maybe straight up getting protection on use with Written in Stone? Something, anything, really.

And I’d love to finally have a decent condi build – like signet build was – for PVP though without signets it’s hard to keep burn and bleed up with them being so tied to attunements. Why isn’t there an earth trait that gives bleed procs when doing something specific?

It basically all comes down to our utilities (and to a lesser degree, elites) offering no defensive values unless they are cantrips. Glyphs have the opposite problem of Signets now, with the trait being really good (traited Glyph Heal for example heals for ~6k every 20 seconds and gives 7 seconds of protection in earth), but besides GoEP all the utility glyphs are basically unusable in pvp. I could see Storm Glyph usage if it’s cooldown wasn’t so incredibly high.

I was so disappointed when I saw what sweeping changes Guardians got to their elite skills and how many bad Mesmer utilities were buffed, while none of our skills were touched besides updating burns and classifying 2 as a cantrip.

I think with just small changes a lot of our utilities could be viable. If earth shield cast was instant (and maybe even a stunbreak) it would actually be great for PVP for example.
