Dragon's Tooth speed
I’d rather have it changed so instead of a “select target” spell, it should be like a normal aoe skill, where you place where you want it to land.
It used to land faster, hit harder and was ground targeted until BWE3 where every profession complained that our RTL > Updraft> Phoenix > DT > Signet of Earth > Ring of Fire > Arcane Wave > Arcane Blast > Flame Grab burst combo was way over the top.
They nerfed it and us and everyone else learnt to dodge, that’s right, L2Dodge came from us first and eviscerate second.

Also ele skills are so kitten much easier to dodge – I dont know, are there any other spells that take 2 seconds to cast and/or another 2 to land? You can just walk out of most of them.
Eviscerate on the other hand is impossible to dodge reliably in the heat of combat.

dragons tooth is useless now and suffers from horrific design choices, the combo was over the top but takes far more skill then anything anyone else has now

DT shouldn’t be THIS slow, you can literally just run out of it unlike any other placed AoE in the game
its on the list of poor elementalist design choices along with failure to live up to the original class description, poor synergy between attunements, conjured weapons and mandatory arcana traits
I agree with you all. It’s way to hard 2 hit some one with it. Even when you knock down some one they get up and dodge in time… The Dev’s are not playing the ele at all or they are not checking our side of the forum.. i have no idea what’s going on but they need 2 change it ASP.
its not just dragons tooth , all of our spells are slow. people can simply strafe out of the way of a fireball , where as any gun weapon will just shoot you down fast.
Its the same as Eruption or Ice spike. Everything takes around 2s to actually do something and everybody with half of the brain can just see that there is ground shaking beneath them or huge ice/fire thing hanging on their heads.
I wonder why Arenanet is ignoring this. It’s in their interest that the game run’s good and that we all are happy. Arenanet can you plz tell us if your planing any changes? I dont see the point in ignoring all our topic’s just tell us are you working 2 better our class? Is it so hard 2 comment ona topic? And make us happy with just a reply? I think we deserve atleast that
I understand that hard hitting skills need to give players the chance to avoid them. But even this is too much. Especially when more damage actually comes from conditions that are applied by normal auto attacks that you dont dodge.

Hello don’t target a single person target a group that way you have a garunteed hit. Sure I run around in PvE and use DT before I cause agro so the monster doesn’t move but I still use it in close quaters combat.
What you do is drag them in use a defense spell then DT and just as it drops roll backwards and BAM you get a hit. I do it in PvP to and it works god only knows what you guys are doing.

They probably look in here but don’t post after all each patch note has class changes, besides they are more interested in solving bugs 1st and not our silly problems with slow DT.
Because of thous patches and class changes am i worried the most. Noting has been done 2 fix our bugs for example ‘’Ride the lightning’’ ( thats only one example from atleast 5-6 that i know of)

make it instant cast, reduce damage by over half
anyway, Baladir is right, it is a PvE skill and the highest sustained dps skill an elementalist has based on its cd in comparison to all the heavy hitting nukes.

Rly? And who will tank “not so smart” mobs for you when you cast this wonderful pve skill? Or they just walk away.
Needs to be 3 times faster along with phoenix and needs to hit twice as hard.
i play thief, and have a 25-ish lvl ele alt with which i occasionally wvw.
i find it very annoying how most skills have an unneeded casting time,
or root you, or a very slow animation until they take effect.

Get used to it. Btw, its funny when thief player say something like “L2play” to ele players (it’s not about you, just btw). Now you know what feels ele in pvp =). Slow skills, lower damage, only meteor shower in glass cannon spec is good.
I think it should have a 2 second cooldown, land instantly, have a 2 second daze, and cause more aoe damage.
Currently, Elementalist do not have 1 skill they can spam to win and this is unbalanced.
If your rotation isn’t working…use a different rotation? Besides, that rotation is horrible. You are using ring of fire AFTER dragons tooth and phoenix? Hello, you’re missing out on free might stacks…also, why throw phoenix before dragons tooth? You’re guaranteeing you wont hit DT with that rotation.
Try something like this:
Flamestrike -> Fire Grab -> Ring of Fire -> Phoenix -> DT -> Earthquake (and Arcane Wave) -> Air Attunement -> Lightning Strike -> Blinding Flash -> RTL -> Updraft → etc etc

I see that all agree with one thing and that is that Dragon’s Tooth has a 2 slow casting and animation time. So i really hope this topic get’s to the Dev’s and they read it.
I think its not hard to tweak a skill that we so badly need. I hope this wont few moths or a year….
its really dumb when a pack dolyak avoids a direct it because it takes that long to cast and signet of earth is on CD
people should be using dodge rolls or other evasive maneuvers to avoid its damage, not walking out
fact is it has a cool down, so the amount of dragons tooths you cast in a fight will not change

I was thinking this exact same thing when I was WvWing earlier. Was trying to burst down a dolyak as fast as possible, only to realize I need to burn a signet just so DT can hit it. I can only wonder which other profession needs to CC a pack dolyak so their staple damage skill can hit it.
yea its a poor design skill and they must change it fast as possible and i hope it will be in the next patch
I like the slow cast animation. Sure it will miss if you don’t use it properly. But the slow cast time is a trade off for its higher damage. If they sped it up they would probably cut the damage in half and it would sux.
DT is a great spell for point control in sPvP. Your foe either has to move off the point or get repeatedly hit with a huge damage attack on a 6s cd.

No it isn’t.
The aoe damage is so small they merely have to move to one side of the point. Are you playing with kitten
High damage for slow animation? Guys, what are you talking about? Many classes have instant abilities with more damage and only 2-4 second longer cooldown. Dragon tooth now is only good for PvE carebears with permanent tank slave. End of story.
P.S. At sPvP opponent will use 1200 ranged weapon and kill you in seconds while you will cast this shame with 900 range and terrible cast time.

as a LoL player i expect a move with a delay to be super awesome.
for example the blitz hook or pudge hook is effectively an instant kill in many situations, yet nobody uses in competition because it is expected to not hit because it has a 1 second delay before firing.

Agreed. By the time DT lands the enemy (even monsters) has already walked out of its landing zone. They dont even need to dodge, just walking is sufficient to evade the skill….
And this is not the only slow skill we have, take flame strike as an example and compare it to other professions #1 skills, flame strike could easily be the slowest of them all
leave it like it is, because its the ;argest damage spell we have and I would rather have
“hard to use but powerful”

“easy to use and normal”
