Shatterstone should be much quicker, I agree, because it isn’t particularly powerful, but DT is somewhat too strong to be instant. It needs some adjustment, because it is disproportionately telegraphed and delayed, but it should still be fairly hard to land considering how much damage it does.
It does 0 dmg cuz I never hit a guy by this when dueling. Maybe instant Dragon’s tooth from sky but less dmg. And shall be ground targetable
Cast it to take away the pressure from melee types or cast it on downed opponents when others are trying to res. it also works great with gale skill from focus.
I was thinking if maybe dragon’s tooth could work “better” if it acts something like a hovering ability that can be recast to make it strike the opponent. For example:
- A dragon tooth formation is occuring above the target, hovering and following it for 3 seconds. This ability may be cast again to instantly drop the formation on the target or after the timer has run out. (I’m not sure if the damage should be adjusted to how long you have waited to activate it or not. Like, full duration is max damage potential etc)
- A different version: You charge up a dragon tooth formation, this charge will remain with you for (x) seconds. You may recast this ability to instantly launch a dragon tooth to the target. (Of course the damage could be balanced around this and maybe play around with the cooldown of the ability for not using it, else you could just keep running around with a charged dragon tooth.)
Use it for a 6 second cooldown blast finisher, to force a dodge by standing under it, to pressure downed people or people ressing or after an updraft/gale.
It’s not useless, but its not easy either. Not every skill can be as useful in PvP.
Although I do agree shatterstone needs some work. That skill is utterly useless

It’s only possible to hit someone in 1v1 with it if you combo it after Updraft or Earthquake, but only if you’re extremely fast (even then they have just enough time to recover and dodge).
One of it’s biggest strengths is that it’s a blast finisher, so try to land DT into fire or water field. Most of your damage as S/D should be coming from Lightning #2 and clutch Phoenix / Fire Grab, with maybe the occasional Earth #2 (Hurl).
Oh but also pay attention to what the opponent is doing because while you’re busy trying to play a piano, you could quickly die.
I agree that it seriously needs to be a ground-targeted skill. Would be a hell of a lot more useful if we could drop it wherever we wanted.
Dragon’s Tooth can hurt like hell and is AOE so it can’t be instant. I’m guessing not being ground target-able was purposefully done. Anyone who sees it over their head will dodge, so you can actually use it defensively to get someoen to back away.
I always thought dragons tooth should be a missile like attack. Start out as usual and just keep pointing at them till it launches towards them. Be a interesting way to add group awareness since other people will be punished for your carelessly leading the attack to them and others for not realizing that the guy is a live bomb.

Then you have to be faster. I don’t know about earthquake but I can assure you the only way to avoid a dragon’s tooth/updraft or gale combo is by popping a stunbreak. But you have to switch attunement during the animation and start casting dragon’s tooth immediately.
Dragon tooth is really strong vs downstate enemies and also to force a dodge so u can do a clean phoneix burst.
You don’t even need to dodge DT you can simply walk away from the aoe.
It works fairly well with Signet of Earth and/or arcane skills. You’ll have to combo it somehow of course, but if you can pull it off, it’ll be a nasty spike. But for everyday use and duelling, it’s not that great.
And its good for zoning too, if u have a melee class on u u can just take shelter under the tooth and be safe for 2 sec.

This. It’s a ridiculous skill. It’s literally been designed to miss in the general case.
Should be more or less instant and ground-targeted (with dmg nerfed appropriately), and phoenix made into an aimed projectile (like staff earth #5). Make ring of fire (dagger fire #5) ground-targeted while you’re at it.
Shatterstone needs to be instant + better dmg or have a secondary effect added – chill + ice field, immobilise/cripple, knockback, whatever. Just something.
same for Ice Spike (staff water#2), Lightning Surge (staff air#2), Eruption (staff earth#2), all of these skills take ages to work, high avoidable (not dodgeable, just getting out of their area of effect).
Talking of cd even Mist Form and Armor of Earth need their cd to lower down (around 60 sec. IMO).

Yeah but when this is in stealth u can target hmmm.. NOTHING? maybe no instant but groundtargettable

yeah updraft’s knockdown lasts a bit longer. the golem wasn’t able to walk away from that one. but if he had a dodge roll, he would have been able to avoid it
and yes, I swap attunements while the first skill is casting
I think gale might last long enough to land a tooth, but updraft doesn’t. Even if you spam the tooth button while you’re still in the updraft animation to land it ASAP the enemy can avoid it if he spams dodge while getting up. Not sure about earthquake (I think it doesn’t last long enough) but signet of earth is a guaranteed tooth hit if they don’t use a condition removal.
Both skills from dagger off hand are not enogh to land dragons tooth
Ele got way too much delayed skills and those sould be reworked in more reliable way.

it just has to be such that you actually have to use a stun break to avoid it. the delay right now is like 2-3 seconds. cut it by 1 second and it’ll be fine

You should have plenty of other tools to kill your enemies without having to rely on Dragon’s Tooth, such as Phoenix which deals massive damage.
At the moment the cd is too low and the damage is too high to justify it being any more powerful than it is. If they make it higher cd with better utility then that is fine.
I would argue that scepter fire attunement auto-attack is far worse, it has a near 2 second cast time for little direct dmg and a 2 second burn. The only use I have for this skill is to get a burn on the enemy in order to use fire grab and to proc Fresh Air.

This is how I see Dragon’s tooth too and I really like this skill even with high delay attack.
Or I try to use it when i saw an enemy dodge two times i knockdown then dragon’s tooth, phoenix, arcane blast+wave, lightning strike, blinding flash.
u can easy get up and go away from this skill without dodge. Also enemies have blinks/evade from weapon/invurneable/swiftness/or just they dodge with brain. enemie must be totally kittened to take full combo on face

Yeah I think dragon’s tooth is perfectly OK but for one single problem: Our own crowd control gives too short knockdowns for dragon’s tooth to land. Enemies can simply dodge after getting up after updraft and dodge the tooth. Updraft should force them to use a stunbreaker to dodge the tooth.
I agree that we need better CC to solve many problems with long animations and cast times. Dragon’s Tooth is somewhat fine, but needs ground targeting along with better CCs.
But yes, increasing the duration of and adding CCs to the repetoire is vital. We don’t have nearly enough stuns or knock downs in a weapon set to remotely make use of Tempest Defenses damage boost for instance.
I would like to see more immobilize options for the ele and scepter could use a few (many) changes.
Rock Barrier = Remade. Immobilizing the opponent for 4 secs + damage.
Shatterstone = ½ sec cast. 2 secs chill instead of vulnerability.
The only way to keep an opponent in place long enough to land a DT, is to use Signet of Earth with +10% condition or immobilize duration at least. So you have to invest 10 points in fire, use a sigil or runes to be able to (but not likely) to land a DT every 24-30 seconds. Wow!

Why not? I cant seem to get why we should accept skills that dont work, even when using them “correctly”.
It’s all these high miss skills that turned me off from scepter in the first place which is a real shame because I’d love to have the air and earth skills it has but when 2/4 elements are major turn offs it’s not worth it.

Forgot about the part where he knocks you back when in range and you almost die.
I learned yesterday that Dragon’s Tooth works without line-of-site. A scepter ele was sitting at the base of a wall at Wurm gate in Bay and was successfully landing DT on an AC that was definitely out of site. Considering his position (hugging the wall), everything would have been out of site, including someone standing right near the lip.
Seems like a bug to me.

It fits a niche among all of my skills which cannot be fit by any other skill.
I want to see other skills which are a LOT more useless (fire autoattack) changed instead of seeing DT changed into some stupid version of Ice Spike (which is something I NEVER use).

how are you pulling off this 180 to run back past this warrior without getting CC’d/chunked? did you conjure a flame axe after casting dragon’s tooth and then use burning retreat to get past him?
or maybe if you double dodge, but that’s all of your endurance

You slow down, then dodge backwards.
I usually time that Dragon’s Tooth with a ring of fire underneath it (for the blast finisher).
I also time it with Phoenix so that they both hit at the same time; it’s quite devastating for those kill hungry warriors.
How I avoid getting CC’d/chunked? I usually end up burning one of my Cantrips to survive it… but the damage he takes is well worth it.

Well thats a problem with a warrior and NOT with the Dragon’s Tooth isn’t it
Regardless, I do more than 2.4k damage with my Dragon’s Tooth + Ring of Fire + Phoenix combination.
Could try to throw a Fire Grab in there if we’re getting a little frisky.
