If the guardian got the longbow and now has all of the spirit weapons, Mesmer got shield (phantasmal defender) and may get axe, we could get a greatsword and maybe Anet will give eles some condi and bring burn eles back or something
Why a GS while we can have a trident on land that fit more the magical theme?
Even spear on land would be a better theme if your really want a 2h

If with good blocks and evade frames I can dig it.
You can summon a greatsword, and a axe, and a hammer, and a shortbow…
I would rather they do something to make the conjured weapons relevant again.
I would also like it if you could wield the axe with one hand and the shield in the support slot (which honestly is how i thought they were going to work until i was sorely disappointed.) Now the addition of longswords would be AWESOME! I would get on that hype train. That way i could swap out foci, horn or dagger. More dual wield options is always welcome (to me.) Heck, dual wielding scepters sounds awesome as sin!

So what if … just think about it … what if those weapons were “spirit weapons” that were still temporary, but had different elemental abilities in whatever element you were in? Then you just nerf the fact that other people can pick them up, because who the heck wants to use your crumby conjured weapons anyway? Right?! They would still be conjured weapons, but with more utility! See? More options = more cool!
That’s what I meant by “fixing” them.
Then just give us the longsword for an expansion.
For best value they could be like engi kits. Click it once at any time to activate it, click it again to deactivate it. But I fear they’d be far too powerful like this. And I imagine ANet want to keep mechanics like this as distinct as possible across different professions to preserve their identity.
For the same reason I imagine they’d want to keep the option of other people picking them up – which by the way people do, because at least some of the weapons (icebow, hammer, fgs) are actually pretty awesome.
They can still do stuff like “picking up the second conjure decreases the cooldown by half” on a trait or something.
Greatsword, pfff… give me dualwielding pistols instead with magic imbued bullets.

i kew this reaction would come ^^. But this one is exactly what ele is missing ;-). No defensive/support or power off hand is needed and we have all ranges in mainhand too…
They’re not likely to give ele a greatsword, axe, shield, hammer, shortbow or longbow as you can get conjured weapon skins of those which would make it extremely hard to distinguish when a conjure is being used vs weapon skills being used.
I been putting some though into it i would like to see ele get a main hand foces (orb looking for the class wepon skin) that has an energy cost to its skill much like rev (slow hitting but very strong). This will come with an utility set of upkeep wells fields (fire ice water lighting) that combo off the foces skills.
GS dose not fit the ele class and i cant see a class like ele getting a 2h wepon any time soon.

Otherwise, GS is a weapon that’s already a bit to much widespread in game. It’s starting to feel like every profession is a GS wielder. There are a few weapon that are less represented and would be more fitting for an elementalist. Torch and mace suit the elementalist more than 100 GS.
Not possible, until ArenaNet realize what they did wrong with ele. We must understand not all classes are made equally. Before the release of HOT, ele was the balance class since it lacked high dps or conditions with boon and damage mitigations. Hence this class was balance in spvp and wvw. But Pve players made this class a pure dps since the game mechanic allowed it to survive with 100% damage gear only in FOTM and with raids. HOT release made everyone’s specialize class into a balanced boon driven sustainable ele with high damage, hp and sustain compared to their former selves in all aspects on the game. So in pvp world anet said they need to nerf sustain since everyone can use bunker/sustainable amulets since everyone is ele now. So anet removed all those stats in spvp or the year and now nerfing damage in pve thus nerfing wvw.
So the end question is you have to fix the core ele and bring it up to date like with other classes but in order for them to do that they have to also make HOT required in order to sell expansions. Tempest mechanics was the problem, it made ele too bunker so they had to nerf core ele to make tempest seem more viable in decreasing it’s power. Yet maintaining the fact you need to buy HOT enough so the nerfs to tempest aren’t to heavy.
I think anet need to buff core ele and than for the next expansion make a beautiful new spec that doesn’t make or break the game. And not like with the tempest we can’t have a trait line that emulates what all its other trait lines do. Arcane is a a synergy of fire, water, earth and air. Tempest should have be an alternate for those 4 not arcane. Since anet was forced to nerf all those 5 trait lines to make it viable.
So before we even pick a new weapon what are we trying to do with ele?
Anet focus on the fun mechanic or play style like with other profs not a replacement to all features but an alternative path.
And please buff core damage and conditions and nerf tempest if you’re not happy with the power boons and sustain of overloads.
