Ele and the open world
I run with full glass staff for open world
mandatory traits: 30 in fire (persisting flames) and 15 in air (electric discharge) and 10 in arcana (blasting staff)
arcane wave for utility skill that never leaves my bar
I kill stuff pretty dang fast
and don’t have much trouble staying alive unless I’m trying to solo a group event (almost always doesn’t go well, but I try anyway)
reverse burning retreat and fiery greatsword are great for getting from place to place quickly. I’ll also frequently slot lightning flash as well, and use it to travel faster (or for damage in combat. or for extreme damage with the fiery rush glitch)

your primary means of defense (with this build) is killing things really fast. you have massive huge AoE, so the number of enemies doesn’t really matter. just lay down those AoEs and watch them die.
but if you need more time, you have three dodges and an AoE blind and, for melees you have all kinds of tools for keeping distance. wide AoE chill, wide AoE stun, narrow AoE immob, AoE knockback, and even AoE blind. I like to burning retreat through my attackers. Veteran abomination too close? turn around and burning retreat I like to burning retreat through my attackers. Veteran abomination too close? turn around and burning retreat through him.
For ranged, you have 5 seconds of ranged immunity. use that time to kill them.
arcane shield is also pretty great, as is glyph of storms (in earth)
I believe staff is the best open world PvE weapon. you have all kinds of tools to support yourself (and others!) as well as tons of damage

Thanks for your answer. I think the only dmg comes from fire #2 and earth #2. And these AoEs tick slowly, hence I cant make use of them to the full potential. True, I sometime use immob or chill, but these cooldowns are freaking long… could you upload a video for some skillrotations?
I mean in dungeons all I do is wait untill huge amounts are spawned, open with #2 earth, then #2 fire, then meteorshower and arcane wave. Later I often summon LH.
Glass Staff is the best for open world. It’s all I do.
Keep Sigik of air, mist form and arcane wave in util. Arcane Wace is very versatile letting you heal, stack might or gain swiftness on demand.
If you want survivability, go 30 water and 30 arcana. With staff, you can go from earth 2, fire 2, fire 3, fire 5, then go to water and cast water 2 and 3, optionally 5. You will be hard to kill and slowly killing those mobs.
But for full glass, I don’t see why you can’t just go d/d fresh air build, for instance. Or, if you need projectile protection, go with d/f instead. Optionally use arcane shield.
For solo open world S/D is god-just grab fire cd and persisting flames traits and 1 shot everything with DT/Phoenix while having 20 might + fury.
