So I don’t WvW much anymore since SoR’s plummet from t1… but I was there on my guard just doing a couple of the daily achieves. Was killing two pack dolyaks as full glass gs s/f… all of a sudden I notice there is a downed ele next to me. I killed him without even realizing he was there… =(
Makes me sad because this is why I somewhat stopped playing my ele. Could seriously use a buff to defense.
He must of been terrible if he died to collateral damage lol

I looked at my combat log and he just charged in at a really bad time, caught him with focus 5 and pretty much a full gs 2… was still sad/funny. I kinda felt bad hehe

You cannot have 50.000 defense when you do massive damage.
S/d has some extremely nasty burst but it is also extremely difficult to land the entire sequence. Once your burst is done scepter auto attack damage is fairly low. On the other hand ele have extremely good pve damage specs in LH s/f builds and fire staff builds but these are pretty much useless in a roaming type environment. Hard to get players to stand still in your lava font =D
I do think ele should be a pretty “bursty” type class, otherwise they wouldn’t be as much fun. However it might be good to introduce a new and unique defense mechanic for ele. The other low hp class is guards, and they have heavy armor and a kitten ton of active defenses/healing in terms of aegis, blinds, reflects, etc. Thieves (and even some shatter mesmers) have comparable/more burst yet have significantly more active defenses in the form of stealth and clones. I’m not saying ele should become a stealth class, that would be silly, but any type of mechanic that lets ele be a glassy burst class with active defenses would be good imo.

I take it you’ve never seen a glass thief or static engineer.
You cannot have 50.000 defense when you do massive damage.
No matter what damage you can do if you aren’t really doing it because of being oneshotted from the start.
Jokes aside not only there is no universal “dd/def” parameter, but even if it would exist – a lot of classes would be better at it.
And one more note: ele != burst s/d.
