I find playing Ele really fun. We are so kittened that I have to do everything in my power to not die in two hits, even from mobs in PvE. I move a ton, I dodge like a champ and I am constantly switching my attunement and using every skill available to me. I have come to look at the attunement system as one big skill bar and I like to think I have completely mastered at least being a staff ele.

I love my ele but I have 8 characters that I have not played so I decided to try out my guardian the other day. My initial reaction was, “wtf?”, as I bought a greatsword and killed my first enemy. See as an ele I have to be really careful to not over agro or I am likely dead in seconds. Well, my guardian took out it’s first foe without a fight. So I kept playing and to my surprise I found that my guardian could easily take out 4 enemies at once. Not even breaking a sweat, barely taking a hit because I play guardian like I play ele. I found myself just demolishing everything. My ele always had problems with personal story quests early on but my guardian just smashes everything in her way.

The point is, ele can be so difficult at times that I think if you take the time to master just being proficient at the profession that it gives you a leg up when you try something else. I kind of always thought that all the professions had to work as hard as I do but I find guardian is just keyboard to the face easy.

So yeah, learning to play ele to me was like Rocky training in the meat plant or chasing the chicken around the yard and I think everyone that thinks combat is boring needs to take an ele refresher.

My first character was a Guardian and it was just as easy as you say it is. No leg-up here. Or I’m just that good. \o/

Like someone said in one of the topics here: “Ele is the GW2 equivalent of an 80s training montage. Once you suffer through it then reapply what you learned to another class suddenly you’re Rocky Balboa.”

@Aaron
Try Mesmer, it’s more challenging than Guardian. Mesmer has similar requirements to being effective as it is compared to the ele. The difference is obviously the class mechanic, which both need to utilize heavily in order to be effective.

Most likely it gave you some help , like control debuffs like blind , dodge , using F skills right.

But fact is ele is very hard , anyone could make the change and play well a guard , going from guard to ele on the other hand … just no.

Lol, I had the exact same experience. I started out as Elementalist, and loved the action-y combat, and having to be careful with how many mobs I fight at once, strafe around, dodge etc.
Then started a Guardian and faceroll’d everything in my path without any problems. No strafing, no dodging, not knowing my skills. I just hit attack and stuff dies.xD

Just who the hell do you think I am!?

I sincerely think this has to do with us all starting out as a “light” armored class, with less health and damage, and building up to these higher, “heavy” armor classes with lots of health and lots of damage.
