I was never the best, but I was good enough to be the guy in sPvP that thinned the competitors down to just the hardcore. I did not play too much sPvP. WvW was my thing. Enter the revised badlands.

It seems that the accumulated ele hate in patches + counter skills boosts have finally taken their toll. I went from killing anything (worst being maybe a 30-40% win vs good warriors or necros) to killing nothing (played by a skilled player). I watched an engi regen equal conditions damage. I impossibly tried to overcome confusion and torment. My heals were fairly useless.

2800 power, 1250 cd, 35% crit, 41% crit damage, 2800 tough, 15k hp
I don’t think these stats are deficient.

So, is anyone optimistic about the eles chances in the new bl?

I tried a few D/D builds and was getting wrecked by everything. All the roamers you face are based on high toughness and regen capabilities, and D/D just can’t out-damage them. Get back in the zerg with your staff or try S/D and get taken down by every thief and anybody you don’t outplay. At least you’d have a chance though.

sadly thats the current state of eles, hence why I rerolled guardian. I still check this forum as a not-friendly reminder of how my favorite class got turned to dust, not by nerfing them into useless, but instead a smal nerf here, another small nerf there, a major nerf there, a marginal buff there, another small nerf there, and BAM, buff every class x1000 times….

I now roll guardian and I have noticed that even my gaurd has better roaming potential than my ele…and guardians arent exactly the best roamers out there….

Yep agreed, My first and favorite class is trashed.

I agree there is alot of beef rolling around the new areas the warriors for sure.

I have tried out 20 earth, 20 water, 30 arcana with 95% boon duration and so far the results are pretty good. I am still looking at how I can squeeze out a bit more damage from it. If you are swapping often with this setup you can keep fury up almost as well as zephyr’s boon setup(almost).

I’ve been giving staff a go again in WvW even for small group fights. Its the most challenging way to play, but it has been fun and somewhat useful. I find D/D to be a fun playstyle but less useful than a guard or warr in a roaming group. Staff offers a bit more utility to sort of balance the fact that skill shooting in mobile fights isn’t always effective.

I gave up on my ele when the regen/stunlock warrs started becoming so popular.

I always played balanced or DPS builds. I ran S/D burst for a few months, even before fresh air. I’d also run DPS d/d when I felt like trolling people. I really do love the ele class but you have to work so much harder to accomplish 60% of what another class can do.

I gave up and rolled a thief for WvW roaming(still the best ele exploit :P). They’re many times easier to play and you will rarely die to anything but a major kitten up on your part. The regen warrs are still a PITA to kill but youre in little no danger of getting killed by one.

I can still kill skilled people, so I guess we’ll get new nerfs soon, until none of us can kill anyone with their eyes closed. Just e-sport, guys.

I still manage to beat the odds with scepter/focus. Waiting for focus nerf, oh wait… what could they possibly nerf on it?
