Just did 15 soloq matches and I just wanted to say elementalist seem alot more powerful now. Currently from what I have seen so far ele is prob the last class I want to vs atm.
What do everyone else think?
I agree.
I think it’s mostly because of the fact we utilize the runes of Strength really well.
I still ruin Eles with my newb thief, but maybe because I am too used to play Ele…
As Ele I did some matches and Celestial is working really really nice, but I still feel I do mediocre damage with the other amulets and have low defense, or have mediocre defense and low damage. Condi bomb nercos and mesmers are toughest, despite all anti-condi I run as well so… meh
My best bet is that a lot of pve-s are still running in the soloq so don’t get your hopes up.
Maybe someone with experience with the new GM traits should say if there is anything actually useful..
Hmm, it’s hard to say. A lot of people attribute it to the new strength runes, but I don’t use those and still have been kicking butt. Only lost one solo que match in the last three days, and haven’t fought anyone yet who was too difficult for me to overcome. Not that they couldn’t possibly win, but just that they didn’t. I don’t know man…I guess time will unveil how well we are doing.
I agree it feels that eles are better off now. Not entirely sure exactly what was changed to make us better. I haven’t had a chance to play ele in spvp too much other than a s/d Burst build but even with the crit damage nerf Im still able to burst down most people, but I feel as though im somewhat able to survive a bit more damage. I don’t die if people even look at my general direction like I used to prior to patch with this build.
IDK is it maybe an influx of bad players/newbies were up against or people being disoriented with the changes and trying new things out?

Observed pretty much that as D/D Ele. Feel a lot stronger now.
But that might be , as you mentioned, be in connection with the PvE players playing PvP now for the Dungeon Paths
Nothing has changed basically. The builds are still the same. Only real buffs are the reversion of our restoration signet and the water GM trait nerf in addition to the evasion on burning speed.
And I don’t think that the new GM traits make that much of a difference. Bunkers can bunker a little bit better and healers may now be viable in WvW and pug-arena but those traits aren’t used for offensive/balanced builds.
As for me it feels quite the same. D/D is a little bit stronger due to burning speed being an opener now that doesn’t leave you half dead because of random AoE when engaging a fight. Staff was fun even before the patch and S/D fresh air is still the same too.
Ive been doing a ton of solo que and its been going pretty well. good fear necros are really hard to beat with d/d if they have alot of life force same goes for perma burning engi’s, ive been playing around with d/f a bit in spvp and that makes engis pretty easy to fight. i dont think any of the new grandmaster traits are all that exciting. Unerfing the signet heal and cleansing water was huge, never been a fan of ether renewal. I dont feel like there any amazing amulet choices for ele now that you cant put jewels in them, it seems the only reasonable choices are valkyrie (dat low health and crit chance) and celestial (dat low power makes me sad) they both seem pretty solid though. havent tried zerker yet but i may give it a shot with d/f and see how it goes. or maybe valkyrie with signet of fire precision utility and sigil of accuracy. Also played a couple games as bunker staff and it was lots of fun!

This is pretty accurate. sPvP is really popular with people who aren’t used to the game mode. You can do a lot just by playing the mechanic well because so many players aren’t used to the scoring system.
Since I have actually seen my dragon tooth hit in spvp, I stoped beliving in the buffs and realised im playing against bads, other than that, still get wrecked by the same classes like before.
Well the huge influx of d/x str runes eles has caused me to swap to using sw/d as a secondary set on my theify. By all means, stack that might :>.
But yeah the celestial ammy buff helped out as well, I’m lovin my little d/d ele… Now if we could just get rtl reverted (:
Well, celestial amulet is the best for a hybrid profession like Elem. The signet reversion helps a lot too. The Water new trait with healing sigils and runes make you a really good Healer. I can survive some bursts and heal me really fast.
If Eles are still this good after a month, we can say the buffs worked out for us. I’m hitting Dragon’s Tooth and Fire Grab a lot now in PvP so I’m still convinced that PvP is still filled with PvE players that just want the Reward Tracks.
I have been saying this for months, that an increase in potential stats would improve the Elementalist by far. Eles are a very stat dependent class. Why do you think Elementalist was so much better off in WvW prior to the patch? Its true every class received a stat boost in WvW but for some that boost in stats was more valuable. Now that celestial amulet has some decent stats and might stacks are easier than ever to obtain, you can really start to appreciate the Elementalist.
I hope this doesn’t mean Anet will stop working on improving this class though, I’d still really love to see each and every potential trait that doesn’t see the light of day get polished up.
PS: I used to win 9/10 spvp solo tourneys pre patch all the time (using d/d which is not even the ideal weapons for spvp tournies). This means NOTHING when looking into balance. Get back to me when you start to win above 80% of your matches out of 1000s of games

I have been seeing a LOT more eles in tpvp lately. Of course, my Mesmer LOVES killing eles since we do it so well, but yea they seem very strong with the new runes and sigils (I wouldn’t know since I just remove all the might they get :D). D/x ele, s/x ele, or staff ele could potentially come back, but the meta right now is changing (into a condi meta or perhaps a rock-paper-scissors meta?) so I am unsure.
My ele feels a lot better than he used to be, but I still feel that the classes that wrecked me before still do so and I just don’t feel I have a role that can’t be done better by someone else. It has be a lot of fun playing my ele again, but my conclusions haven’t really changed so far.
