Hey,

I have problems fighting thiefs(especiall d/d + shortbow ) and necros.

Thief: hits like a crazy easymode machine(8k completling ignoring I have 2300 armor -.- ). When I´m closing the gap between me and him(once the thief isnt invisible -.- ) he just uses shortbow and creates a new gap.

Most of the time the thief is nearly death, goes invisible and just reset the whole fight. Or I´m about to win and the thief hits me with his backstab – BOOM, adios ele.

Necro: only struggling with the condition builds, any tipps?

I am running this build(intigo): http://bit.ly/GFueD3

Bye

If its not a full out of combat reset then your problem is signet.
I use ether so I can cleanse the blind and try to finish in air so I can shocking aura the opener.
Try to roll in earth.

You can also take 10 out of water and put it into air for the burst and 20% dmg on targets below 33% health.
Consider sigil of energy, even with perma vig its still nice.
It may be popular but I don’t like using battle/force without the extra burst from air or fire is nice.

This is my anti thieves roaming build for WWW >.>

Obviously thieves have many free of jail skills….there is a reason why even anet admitted you can t kill a decent thief in www…..

If you want even more you should go fresh air burst…..at least you will be able to kill them before they can escape.

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

Thief: Dodge CnD, don’t let him stealth. If he gets it off dodge and pop protection. (2300 is glassy by itself, but pretty good when paired with ele heals + High protection uptime)

Necro: Dodge signet of spite and corrupt boon. Meta necro build can apply all but one of the conditions in the game (All of them if they run chill on blind) with it. Corrupt boon will eat a boon ele. Scepter and dagger aoe’s are telegraphed and apply a decent amount of bleeds. Staff marks all look the same except for the Fear, which looks like he’s pushing his staff at you.

Deathshroud conditions aren’t as threatening as his weapon set/utility condition pressure, but if you can help it, don’t let him get his immobilize off. A good necro can make very good use of an immob’d enemy.

If he’s smart he’ll use a mob or your elite ele.

Kill mobs and don’t use that elite? Should be able to down any mobs in a second unless you’re fighting by a camp or pve champ.

My main is a D/D and SB thief. My primary alt is an elementalist. Here are some tips:

- D/D thieves are predictable. They will approach using a gap closer (if it’s up — Steal has a cooldown of about 30s) and Cloak and Dagger to stealth. CnD is melee range and has a cast time. If you avoid that CnD through any means, the thief just blew about half his initiative for nothing

- If the thief does stealth via any means other than Shadow Refuge (the little house over the circle, which has a long cooldown), his stealth will last four seconds. He’s going to be sneaking behind you to backstab. If you want to be defensive, count to two then dodge. If you want to be offensive, then take advantage of the fact that you basically know where he is and you have some good PVAoE damage skills.

- Don’t fight near animals or NPC’s, if possible. If your elite is a greater elemental, do not pop it for this fight. He’ll use those to stealth.

- Don’t gear in full zerk. If you can’t survive the initial burst, nothing else matters. If his CnD/ Backstab opener hits for 4k and 12k respectively, then you’ve chosen a gearset that will greatly reward other players in burst damage specs

At some point, he’ll be out in the open. You have at least as much burst potential as he does. */D Elementalists are a tough matchup for D/D thieves.

Against condi necros, you need to adopt a hit-and-run policy. Dodging the Signet of Spite and Reaper’s Mark are important as both will provide the necro with excellent setup if they hit, but also have long cooldowns if they miss. Jumping in, bursting, then immedietly retreating is your best policy as the necro cannot build life force without you sitting close to him, and it also greatly limits the bleeds and poison you must contend with. Necros do not stack bleeds quickly, instead relying on a constant stream of them. If you don’t give the necro time to stack the bleeds, he doesn’t do much damage.

This may need to be repeated a few times, but the cooldowns for your burst are shorter than the cooldowns of the necro’s truly threatening skills. Take advantage of this plus the fact that he cannot catch you if you just decide to run and you should find necros much easier to deal with.
