Elementalist Builds Post December 10 (PVE)
From a similar thread:
As an ele, you can maximize group DPS (which includes your own DPS, plus fury and might for group) by using the build I show in this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeRhQ40ckQ4
Although, since you’re just starting, I’d use the 30/10/10/10/10 variation of the build in that vid (with Piercing Shards and Renewing Stamina) so you: 1) get perma vigor; and 2) don’t have to worry about keeping your health at maximum. You can switch to 30/10/10/20/0 at a later point.
It’s best to go zerk/assassins + the meta build in the vid right away, so you don’t develop any bad habits (there are far too many experienced ele’s with terrible habits already). If you start off fresh to the class with a meta build, you’ll learn in just a week to be better at dungeons than most ele’s who have played for months.
I’ll post some more clips of the build in actual combat in the next few days (by Sunday at the latest).
This is the one I’ve been using since the patch:

Be mindful of the changes to some traits. Nonetheless, I’m using the new Soothing Wave but I’m still unsure if I should use Powerful Aura or Cleasing Wave. I might stick with the Aura since it brings more synergy to parties.
I’ve been playing with Arcane Brilliance, and it works perfect after you engage the mobs, lay down your fire field and need another blast finisher after using Arcane Wave, and before/after dodge-roll in earth. It heals a lot if you’re surrounded by enemies, but I feel I am compelled to use its blast finisher inside the fire field even if my health is high. Which shortly after leaves me kinda unprotected.
I experimented with 30/20/0/10/10 earlier today, but with d/d (and my gear) it was too glassy. I was getting around 2400-2500 power with might and fury stacks so it might be good for a staff build. I dont have much experience creating my own builds, usually try out other peoples.
Blackgate
I can’t play Ele without it. It’s a class-defining trait, it should have been made baseline.
The suckiest change is moving Cleaning Water to 20 water, that was also friggin stupid.
Personally I haven’t used Cleaning Water for a while, I think Ether Renewal is enough for condi cleans, and we have a few other cleanses as well, x/d #5 and evasive arcana.. staff water #5.. However!… Considering how they moved some of the most used ele traits further into arcana and water, those who gets most hurt by those changes are those who had very little points in those trait lines in the beginning.. So in that matter, they failed in addressing build diversity..

It’s not like they didn’t knew. Many of us including me told them so early on, when they announced these changes. I even messaged a developer privately because I thought I had had a great idea making the earth trait “Earthen Blast” a blast finisher to compensate you the extra finisher you get when going 30 points into arcana.
He didn’t reply as you can imagine. Now we get this update, with nothing good for me beside the fgs finally cast-able when running.
Huge buff: Ele can run away from battle better with his op fgs.
