I just created an Elementalist and want to play him only WvW in Roamzergs.
I want to play my enemies out and to burst them, do u guys recommend a special build?
I appreaciate any help

Well to give you the truth on Elementalists in wvw. Do you wana be a squishy support classs that if you get caught in the wrong place instantly dies? Forget about bursting, if you wana hurt people you have to spec pretty glassy and then you will hit people for about the same dmg that the supper tanky warrior does, the only difference is, you have no clue who you will hit with your spells, but they do.
Do yourself a favour and don t roll a Elementalist. It s one of the worst classes to play in this game and it s getting worse every patch.

Listen to Thyophelis. Ele is the hardest work for least reward in WvW.
Every other class is more fun to play.

I’m sick of this negative emo talk in here. I don’t main ele (i main Warrior) but i play ele more and more because we lack eles in our guild and in organsied WvW play, they are STILL one of the best classes for WvW. I’m talking about the staff ele of course.

It’s amazing for zerg and organised group play. Great CC for enemies with the chill field, static field and line of earth skill. Great AoE damage which shines in chokepoints and AWESOME healing with the small and big heal that you can push out quite often. With multiple eles, the group should have healing fields on every regroup which means back to full health every time if your group knows how to press their blast skill.

Dagger/dagger ele and scepter/dagger isn’t as great as it was back in the day with OP cantrips and because of the current meta they are overshadowed. But even these builds are still viable if played well.

Focus is still crap. But nothing new there…

Staff ele PVT with some clerics trinkets 0/0/10/30/30 or 0/0/20/20/30 is an essential piece in an organized zerg. Waiting out on when and where the commander calls for CCs and Water Fields is your primarily role aside from keeping yourself alive in the middle of the fight. The 20 in earth variation is basically for the Rock Solid trait while the full water version is for Cleansing Water with the cantrip traits. 30 on Arcana is for Blasting Staff, and double EA.

In our group of about 20-30, we usually have 3 or 4 staff eles, rorating on Static Fields and Healing Rains as the commander demands them while the melee train blasts and smashes their way to the enemy zerg.

For solo roaming or small group roaming, standard D/D or S/D still kind of works despite all the nerfs to the x/x/x/30/30 build. It’s also built more defensively with the goal of whittling down the enemy in a battle of attrition. Burst builds for eles are just one trick ponies with little to no survivability and mobility and are therefore useless in wvw IMO. If you want burst, you’re better off with a thief or a warrior. But I haven’t tried it much in wvw since I mainly use staff with a larger zerg all the time.

I would avise against cleric gear.Cleric trinkets are only good if you wanna sustain yourself,not others.Most of the healing you give to your comrades is through their blasts.You just provide the fields.If speced correctly regen will do some good by removing conditions but it will NOT save anyone in a zerg.Try to to have a good amount of health 16-17k+ with armor over 2500, 3000 attack power and over 30% critical chance.

You can go much higher than the stats i mentioned but you will be paper and will require great skill not to die.

That’s basically the purpose of Clerics for me since I equip ether renewal as heal and it scales well with Healing Power. With rock solid, and having guardians around, also with Armor of Earth, it’s not that difficult to get the full channel of that skill. I just run with the zerg trying to stay alive in order to unleash those water fields and static fields.

With rock barrier your armor will be over 2700 so make sure to have it up all the time during outnumbered or in zerg encounters. You can chance your rings to knight if you want more armor. Don’t listen to players saying in order burst you will be glassy. They are completely wrong. You will survive a lot if you are a good player with this build and be able to burst down instantly all those glassy players and these bunker d/d eles.

For bursting in zergs I would recommend using a staff. Here is the build I use:

You’re rather squishy (if you use your utility skills properly and stay in the back this is no problem) but the damage you deal to the enemy zerg is extremely high. 1 Meteor Shower can kill the enemy back line if they stay in it. This build also works really well against Siege weapon.

P.S. If you can’t keep your HP above 90% I recommend using Ruby Orbs. They’re also really cheap.

I love ele with blasting staff, 30 in fire trait line (30/0/10/10/20), and signets of fire+air. This really cranks out a lot of AoE damage in a zerg-on-zerg. I guarantee you WILL hit five players in an enemy zerg with your skills. Meteor Shower, Lava Font, and Fireball are all awesome in zerg fights as well as sieges (both offensive and defensive sieges).

You are quite fragile and I find I switch to water and pop all my cooldowns (water 5, blast, water 3, heal).

Mostly I sit near the back of my zerg in fire cranking out the heat. Lots of fun. Don’t try solo roaming — that’s not what the build is for.

Part of me thinks that someone in ANet was thinking “hey, wanna see something funny? Watch this…”

I wonder around solo with my main ele alot and don’t do that bad. I wear celestial gear and a 10/10/0/20/30 traits. Once you learn how to change attunements quickly and when to change its rewarding.

I wear valkyrie armor with pvt trinkets with S/x when roaming. I use precision based runes/sigil and food so I have around 50% crit 70%crit dmg, 2400 armor 17k hp before my wvw buffs. I run a high risk build when roaming 30-30-10-0-0 not the best for dualing but good for small scale fights and soloing camp before swords pop. I normally roam with my friend or 2 random wvers I find this build works well for that. If you want to drop people fully hp to dead you need signet of earth, so dragon tooth can actually hit people during the cast time. Never use a staff for small scale fights it makes you a free kill most of the time.
