Guild Wars 2

Hey guys,

I joined back Guild Wars 2 after a very very long break. I switched my class to Elementalist since he get some fancy shouts when the HoT Addon is popping.

Now I wondering what for Ascended Gear I should buy since I want to play WvW till the Addon pops. But after the Addon I mostly will be focusing on clear the Raid fast.

So what you guys think I should go for? What Kind of Weapons etc.

I know Berserk is best for Nuke DPS, but I think it might be bad in Raids since you are a Glass Cannon. So I am happy about Builds / Gear Tips.

Gold / Gems are secondary.

This is pretty much my all around build.

WvW and Raiding will be different. Key is having other options to swap into. For example I have a full set of Berserker Jewelry as well as other defensive options for more HP when needed. Armor is a bit high, but I find it’s good amount to survive pick in WvW and with Guard Stacks reaches up over 17k HP. If pick is really strong I swap to Soothing Disruption. Just the same as I have options I can swap it around. Basically the same setup for PvE as can swap to Arcane Blast/Persisting Flames and other staples as the encounter requires.

Hard to really say what will be needed for raids yet. There’s no way to know what we’re going to be facing off the bat or what will be needed to overcome it. Conditions? What about unclearable conditions like the Karka Hatchlings? Unavoidable AOE damage? Lots of micro management where each person has to survive? Will toughness be really high and Conditions favored over Direct damage? No one can say and it’s just one of those things we’re going to have to wait and see how it shapes up.

Staff ele oddly enofe can now aura support with the new 600 ranges powerful aure so that may be a thing in wvw/raiding.
I have a strong feeling that d/x is mostly dead for ele out side of spvp and scepter/x is going to be the all in dps.

Right! The main reason for that is that Ascended gear was, previously, very expensive to replace or switch. Meanwhile Necklace (Laurels), Rings (Fractals), Earrings (Guild Missions), and Back (Fractals) are all relatively easy to get to swap in/out as desired. Generally speaking as players improve their personal skills they tend to be able to gear more offensively and so swapping in more offensive gear from defensive gear becomes common.

One of the recent changes was instead of having to spend couple hundred gold on making a whole new Ascended armor set, you can now use the swap recipe to change the stats on the Ascended armor. However, it wipes the upgrades it’s still preferable to start with offensive armor, then swap the jewelry as desired.

So I should get a Berserker Set one?

Can you show me maybe some more defensive jewlery? So I can go hunt for it, til Addon is released?

I would, but that’s me. It’ll be useful now, and post “addon” you can switch it if neccessary.

Defensive Jewelry are: Soldiers, Valkyrie, Cavalier, Knights as the common ones.

Hmm for daggers its usually celestial. (WH might be the same)
For a tempest heal type its cleric/zealot or maybe apothecary/shaman/settler.
Damage builds using burn go sinister.
Staff or scepter fresh air goes mostly for zerker.
Rare condi builds go mostly rabid maybe mixed with some other condi gear.

So whats the playstyle :-).
I don´t know the raids and what is needed there.
I personaly play scepter/focus 90% of the time. WvW and Pve (staff as backup)
I plan to use tempest and shouts but not WH. I am a bit undecided with my gear setup. I currently use rabid/dire with a splash of rampager but i constantly think of using a sinister armor set for a more hybrid build. In WvW roming it works well.
I use air signet for speed. This is my main problem for using shouts. I need the space on the toolbar. If i remove signet it feels unplayable, if i keep signet no room for shouts and tempest unusable LoL …. Next condi removal. No space on toolbar kills toon or tempest :-/.

For staff i find a mix of valkyr/captain/Zerker good if not a full glass cannon.
