Glyph of Renewal: This skill will now revive downed allies only, not dead ones.
Signets of Earth, Fire, and Water: These signest have been updated to not fire at targets behind the player.
Signet of Fire: This skill is now able to hit targets at its indicated range.
Signet of Air: This skill now displays a hovering signet effect over the user when activated.
Whirlpool: This skill’s damage has been decreased by 33%.
yeeey our only elite underwater skills gets even better! frankly i would be happy to trade elite skill slot for a normal slot, thats how crap elite skills are for ele, the only more or less ok skill is glyph of elementals
Glyph of Renewal is now the most absolute worthless skill of all professions now. Only downed allies? Seriously? It takes longer to channel than it does to just revive a downed ally.
Should have seen the whirlpool nerf coming. It was the only elite skill that was actually worth something.

srsly a net? instead of nerfing our skills, fixed the kitten mist form and ride the lighting. Trait in reducing the cool down totally not working for these 2. And Superior rune of might doesn’t add 5% damage when might activate

Great! Glyph of Renewal is now worthless. By the time you cast it, your team will be dead. Also, throws out the whole earth attunement. I hope they made it instacast like the mesmer’s Illusion of Life then. They really need to speed up the elementalist’s scepter attacks. They are simply too slow in any PvP or WvW.

It’s the only burst underwater for except water 5 with perfect aim.
Underwater ele suffers from short kite path before monsters become invulnerable.
Sad….no buff at all.
I could accept the signet hit front player only since other professions got the same nerf too.
Playing a level 20 thief, the underwater skills is a LOT stronger (more boring too) to ele’s. And the burst on land is what a ele should have, although I miss the water attuenement.

So…. they priorities these “fixes” that render some skills even more useless…… yet ignore dozens of problems with bugged skills such as the switch-to-air-element-auto-attack that has been bugging us since day one….. nice to know they have their priorities straight -_-
As some one else said, sometimes i wish I could use the elite skill slot for a regular skill…. the ele elites are more often than not useless as hell, and now its totally useless in water again.

Ok, guess I’ll go back to hiding behind everyone else in any water fights and doing basically nothing. I want to believe they don’t just hate elementalists, but it’s getting harder and harder.

I wouldn’t say that. Not that I used it a whole lot, but there has been the occasion in WvW where I would get out of combat, swap in the skill, switch to Earth and rez three dead allies while we’re assaulting some place (i.e. a keep). It has its purposes but the cooldown is ridiculous, and now that it only revives downed allies makes this skill absolutely worthless.

I got a level 80 engineer, and with full MF gear survives better and deals more damage, with lower casting time, lower recharge time, more hp, more self sufficient than my ele full berserker exotic armor and staff, with arcana and earth and 10 points in air.
I’m just not sure why they nerfed Glyph of Renewal. The only time it was worthwhile was when people were dead and you were able to bring everyone back until the fight; that was assuming they didn’t just get up at a waypoint and run back.
I’m wondering if they nerfed it because of the CoF “exploit” I heard of. The one where you could pull Magg to you with Lightning Attunement. If that’s the reason, I think it’s a stupid way to fix the problem.
They already “fixed” the CoF exploit a while back…. and glyph of renewal is now absolutely totally useless considering the simple fact that its cast time is longer than it takes any random mob to finish off someone… and if a mob didn’t have someone targeted you’d be better off just rezzing them anyway since its faster that way…

I think i’ll add my flame to this and go. Just bloody perfect anet the signets would have been fine but oh no you had to mess with an already semi useless skill outside of pvp then you decrease the dmg of the ele’s only actual underwater elite skill just bloody loven perfect

One free slot of utility spell for me I guess. Considering Necros have a better spell to revive down allies compared to our stupid glyph.

All I can say is absolutely ridiculousness.
Whirlpool nerf was ONLY for a single map in Spvp, no where else did it do anything worthwhile other than allowing us to farm on equal par with everyone else underwater.
We now have so many completely useless abilities it’s not even funny.
We are best at nothing. That is all.

I did an experiment a while back:
found one of those skales that regenerate health that was about 20 levels under (I know, downscaling, but it’s still easier to fight while downscaled) and attacked it in the water with my rare quality trident.
Blasting away at it as hard as I could I couldn’t get it under half health. That’s right, I literally could not kill one single mob in the water. That’s fun.
I ran up on land, giving up the futile battle with the little lizard and it chose to follow me. Turned around and burned it down in about 5 seconds with scepter earth auto-attack only.
Ah well, at least I can look back fondly on the couple weeks where we actually had one skill that would reliably deal some damage underwater, even if we had to wait 3 minutes between bursts of slight usefulness.
The mesmer took some big hits too, much slower phantasm spam from now on.

This is not meant to troll or invoke a negative response, but we can all stop complaining on the forums now.
Judging by these past patch notes its proof they do not listen to complaints on the forums and are going by their own statistical data (as they should). Suggestions are one thing, but the Ele forums has got to heck with just unrelenting complaints.
Let’s try to make an effort to get it to a place where it’s build sharing, advice giving, and actual discuss rather than nothing but complaining.
Again, tonight was proof complaining non stop does not equal a biff to Ele.

There are some stupidly easy bug fixes they can do to our traits, like Windborn Dagger, and the 20% CD reduction on Mist Form. It would show that they are actually looking into fixing the problems. kittening ridiculous.

Your argument may hold water if half the kitten we talk about weren’t bugs. Bugfixes would go a long way to buffing the class. These bugs have been with us since beta in many cases, and no fix in sight. It seems to me they don’t give a kitten about bug fixing, or suggestions.

It holds even more water for the fact that there is an in game bug reporting tool and the fact there is already a thread about Ele bugs.
There is no need to clog the front page with nothing but complaints. I rather enjoyed when the forum had advice, videos, actual discussions on how to beat certain classes etc.
It would be nice to get them back there instead of a constant complaint fest.

Even with 33% damage reduction, it still deals good damage, and what makes the elite devastating is the combination of damage and aoe pulling-in rupts.
Oh how I wish Tornado was even anywhere close to what the current, nerfed-but-still-strong whirlpool is.

Read the patch notes. Nerfing the Guardian and the Mesmer were the #1 priority.
Not in patch notes:
- 1/4sec cast time added to some previously instant cast skills such as Windborne Speed.

so:
we can’t heal as good as guardians
we have lower hp pool than other classes
we can’t DPS as good as many others classes
we can’t AOE as good as warriors
we can’t crowd control as well as well, few other classes
I loved my ele. Playing on an ele is really fun, and the skills are interesting. I got almost all the weapon combo and developed different methods for different situations. I thought hey, I’m doing alright in groups for wvw or pve. Then I played other classes, and realized that putting the same amount of effort into, say, my warrior, made me awesome, whereas my ele is “alright.” Fact of the matter is, when it comes to contributing and pulling my weight, i’m finding my ele sadly lacking. At the end of the day, all these interesting skills (which continues to get nerfed) doesn’t get the job done as well as other classes.

Why?… I feel like this nerf was incredibly un-necessary, as the ele only has a very small amount of viable builds this is a real kick in the teeth for elementalists focused on support… Why do the other classes such as the necro get a group revive? This glyph is effectively useless in comparison with it’s long cool down and cast time.

It was. But considering the Trident needs a hard look (compare it to staff, see how it stacks up even before you factor in combos/Z-axis issues), and since so many skills/traits are borked (and NOT in favor of the ele) I’m a little … puzzled by their bugfix priority.

Cause I completely remember someone jokingly posting a while ago “They’ll probably nerf whirlpool next, since its our only useful/power elite skill”. Lo and behold! Anet in their infinite wisdom has made it happen.
Glyph of Renewal is also incredibly funny. The only actual use that utility had was doing a triple revive in WvW with earth attunement. Casting it with Air was broken anyway. Then it would go on a LONG cooldown, leaving you unable to use one of your oh so much needed utility slots for that time. It was already barely useable. But now Anet in their eternal wisdom decided to make it completely useless by only letting it work on downed, not dead players. You might as well just walk over to your ally, pop arcane shield and help him up normally. Cause he is probably going to be dead by the time you actually finish casting the spell otherwise.
The rest of these ‘bugfixes’ are completely laughable with the long list of Actual important bugs that need fixing with this class.

Right now they seem to be having absolutely no clue on what they are actually doing. No kittening clue at all.
Glyph of Renewal has to have its cast time reduced to about 1 sec if they’re really going with this change, otherwise it’s just useless and doesn’t make any sense.
Look at the skill as it is now when used while in water attunement: It’s almost better to just revive the ally normally so that he can heal himself immediately afterwards.
Also the cooldown is FAR too high considering how weak it is now. Almost 3 minutes just to help a few downed players? Wow….
Less nerfs, more bugfixes! The list of bugs is conveniently laid out for you by the community! Take for example Ride the Lightning, it’s often like casting a condition on yourself.. Ridiculous.
Whirlpool was a great, “Oh crap! Abunch of stuff has randomly spawned on top of me! Time to whirlpool and live through this!” ability. They could have at least reduced the CD by 33% to compensate for the damage reduction, or buff our "1’ abilities.
Because we’re so bad in underwater combat, I actually avoid any situation where I’ll have to fight in water.
The thing that’s really bothered me is Glyph of Renewal. They seem to be missing the fact that it was ONLY useful for DEAD players.
If you’re in PvP, the player you’re trying to help up will be long, long gone before you’ve finished casting GoR. And the player that killed them is probably coming to kill you, too, so you’re not going to have time to cast it. And this is true for both sPvP and WvW. If the player is NOT being finished off, and this will only be if there’s no one around to finish them off, then they can get up themselves or you can rez them normally and save a utility skill slot.
If you’re doing PvE it works like this: if the player is in normal PvE and is downed, the mob(s) will be quite weak. This means that it is just as effective to run over and rez them normally, or kill the weakest mob which will rez them instantly anyway. You can save a utility skill slot.
In hard PvE like dungeons, if a player is downed they will likely have a powerful mob finishing them off. This means that they will more than likely be dead before you’ve finished casting. If they do not have a powerful mob finishing them, you can rez them normally (or, depending upon the situation, kill the weakest mob and rez them instantly, again). So you can save a utility skill slot!
Am I missing something here? The ONLY useful application of this glyph was on a fully DEAD target. Take that away and there is NO point to it existing any longer. I find this upsetting because it was one of the few things that made me feel useful; you’re in WvW, there’s a player that tried to slip into the safety of the fort but was finished. You pop out, channel, bam, that player’s up and runs inside. It was a real sense of satisfaction when you could see someone just pop back up in the middle of battle to continue the fight. I liked it, even with the long cooldown (longer than some elite skills).
Now it’s useless. Ah well, it makes choosing utility skills even easier.

The ONE skill that does damage on par with other classes gets nerfed by 33%… I’m sure not feeling the love.
The earth Renewal bringing up dead allies was the only thing that made the skill useful. It was a GOOD utility, then. I’m willing to bet the Fire/Water/Air versions still don’t even work.
Actually, scratch that. I got the Fire one to work while screwing around in WvW. The buff it gives you last all of 15s. Given how much finesse it took to pull that off (getting up an ally within a 5 seconds+ window of time, before they rally, are revived, or finished) I was honestly expecting it to last something near an hour.
I don’t usually complain about the ele, I have alot of fun playing it though there are a number of buggy skills.. But really? They nerfed our only underwater skill that was worth anything before they fixed RTL?
For whoever is going to play guardians and thieves now: those two professions were nerfed in this patch and, you know, everything points for more guardian/ thief/ mesmer nerfs in the future. Although the glyph sucks because of the casting time, the effect itself is actually being toned down to other professions’ revive skills. Also, outside of whirlpool’s justified nerf and bug fixes, elementalists haven’t changed at all. Unlike mesmers phantasms, guardian’s retaliation, thief’s pistol whip, ranger’s crossfire, which were all nerfed.
